[Bug 2067126] [NEW] GIMP crashing on close if there's an unsaved image

2024-05-24 Thread Rob T Firefly
Public bug reported:

Kubuntu 24.04, GIMP 2.10.36-3build3

Steps to reproduce:

1. Open any image in GIMP and make any change to the image
2. Click the X button on the window titlebar to close the program
3. On the "There is one image with unsaved changes:" popup click "Discard
changes"

Expected behavior: The program exits normally.

Actual behavior: GIMP crashes, and gives the "GIMP Crash Debug" popup
with debug data. On next start the "Image Recovery" popup happens
offering to recover the last-used image.

This only happens when using the titlebar X button to close GIMP.
Exiting the program with File -> Quit and clicking "Discard Changes"
does not trigger the crash.

Debug data pasted below.

[Bug 2048447] [NEW] Stylus becomes non-functional quickly after first use with X.

2024-01-06 Thread Rob Frohne
Public bug reported:

I believe this is a gnome shell or perhaps libmutter bug. I am having
trouble using Krita, gimp, and xournalpp with my stylus pen on several
laptops, a Lenovo Yoga 260, a couple of Fujitsu Lifebooks including the
T935 and the U729X. It all seems to work fine under Wayland, but not on
X. It works with lxde, and lxqt and kde just fine, but not Gnome Shell.
This happened when I moved from Ubuntu 23.04 to 23.10. There was a
recent update to libmutter that chaned the behavior and made it a tad
better, but still broken (Now it works for the first stroke, but not
thereafter.) There is a bug report I made for Xorg, when I thought it
was maybe in Xorg here:

[Bug 2008532] Re: Typing a filename in a nautilus window, and the letters are not in the order I typed them.

2023-02-24 Thread Rob Frohne
I should comment as well, that I have several different computers
running Ubuntu 22.10 like this one, but this is the one that I am sure
has this problem. If the problem exists on the others it is very much
less frequent. I should also mention that I use a Dvorak key layout,
which may make me type faster than some, but I have run tests where I
was typing slowly, but not slowly enough to wait for each letter to
appear before typing the next one, and I still get this problem. If I
let each letter appear before typing the next, all is well.

[Bug 2008532] [NEW] Typing a filename in a nautilus window, and the letters are not in the order I typed them.

2023-02-24 Thread Rob Frohne
Public bug reported:

On my Lenovo Yoga 260 I have this annoying problem. At first I thought
it was just my typing, but after carefully testing it, I find it is not
my typing. You need to type the characters fairly quickly, but often
when you do, they come on the search bar in a different order than you
typed them. For example, I have a directory called LaserTag and so when
I want to find it among all the others in my directory, I open the
nautilus window and start typing Laser, but what is printed in the
search bar is Lsaer. This may happen in some other programs. I am not
sure about that, but it is at least most apparent in nautilus, and
reproducible. For example, I did the test twice and got Lsaer twice just
now.

[Bug 2007011] [NEW] In the Applications search, the first letter I type is repeated so there are two.

2023-02-11 Thread Rob Frohne
Public bug reported:

To reproduce this: Start a gnome-shell session, go to the Activities on
the upper left hand corner of the screen. This opens up a "Type to
search box at the top of the screen. Type any letter. It will appear
twice. If you are looking for a program, for example, LTspice, the
first two letters will repeat giving LLTspice, and it won't find the
program until you backspace back until you have only L, then LTspice
shows up.

Thanks for all the fixes you provide!

I don't think this is a duplicate of the upstream bug report, because
that's about Chromium, and this also affects Firefox.

For anyone else who ends up here and just wants to fix their UI in
Firefox, open "about:config" and set "widget.use-xdg-desktop-
portal.file-picker" to 0.

So I Hate This Glitch In The Matrix As Well!

Right Click An Image In A Browser, Tap 'V' To Save Image As...

When the Save Dialog Opens I Am Unable To Just Type The Filename I Want.

The Entire Dialog Has No Focus!

Windows Mouse Moron Do Not Understand The Frustration; They Always Use
The Mouse; It Never Occurs To Them There Is A Faster Way Of Getting
Something Done By Using The Keyboard.

I Have Found That After Tapping 'V' If I Shift+Tab Way To Another Window
Then Shift+Tab Back, The Save Dialog Is Now Focused And The Filename
Field Is Also Focused.

Hope That Helps Until Someone Fixes The Broken Interface!

I totally agree!

When I RIGHT-CLICK an image and tap V I want to immediately be able to
start typing a filename.

But NOPE!

Can't even hit ESCAPE to get rid of the SAVE dialog; because the entire
dialog is not given focus!

I have found 22.04 lacking in the user experience!

Seems A Windows Moron Mouse Only Mind Set Behind Many Of The "Broken"
Features!

[Bug 1970284] Re: Touch to click cannot be turned off when xserver-xorg-input-synaptics is installed

2022-05-05 Thread Rob Frohne
Not having the control would have disguised the problem for me. It
wasn't only with touch te clicu. There were a number of other similar
issues in other controls. Maybe I don't understand your solution, so it
seems to me the solution that you don't allow synaptic and libinput to
be installed simultaneously is better, but I don,t have the expertise to
suggest how you flag that problem.

Shamelessly piggy-backing on this thread, is there a target/plan for an

I submitted a pull request to the libwacom github repo. Here is the

If someone wants to fix it put the file data/isdv4-10g.tablet in

[Bug 1956248] Re: I get two characters in Activities when I press one key for the first key I press...

2022-01-05 Thread Rob Frohne
I am noticing other anomalies. For example, sometimes clicks on one item
require me to click on another before they react to the first item. To be more
specific, I wanted to reboot to see if it would clear this annoying thing, so I
went to save my work. I needed to select a directory (folder) to save my work
in, but no matter what button I clicked or how many times I clicked on the
folder I could not get it to switch to that folder. I finally gave up and
decided to save in the parent folder, and when I clicked the SAVE button it
opened the directory I was trying to save it in. I'm rebooting now, and will
see if that clears it up for a while. If I can figure out how to make it
happen again, I'll let you know. This laptop is one with a stylus, and I use
it that way every so often.
Thanks for working on this annoyance!

[Bug 1956248] [NEW] I get two characters in Activities when I press one key for the first key I press...

2022-01-03 Thread Rob Frohne
Public bug reported:

If I click the Activities in the upper right hand corner of the screen,
then do NOT click in the search bar and begin to type, I get two of
whatever character I hit. At first I thought it was due to my keyboard
wearing out, but it happens on multiple computers, and whatever key I
type, even infrequently used ones. If I click in the search bar before
I type, then the characters are not duplicated. If I then backspace
over the single character that was correctly displayed in the search bar
and type another character, that character is doubled. Bounce keys will
not eliminate this either. I started noticing doubling characters a
couple of weeks (approximately) ago. I didn't start to suspect the real
reason until recently.

Thanks for working on this for all of us!

2021-10-01 Thread Rob Frohne
Well, I couldn't figure out how to disable the ubuntu dock, because I
had not ever used the extensions app before, but I used apt to remove it
and then I could not repeat the behavior, however, I did reinstall it,
and I also could not get it to malfunction.  Sorry, I've lost your bug!

2021-07-18 Thread Rob Kam
Twenty years later and this is still unresolved?

Going to System Settings > Input Devices > Keyboard > Advanced > Swap
ESC and Caps Lock is a piece of cake.

Then going to System Settings > Input Devices > Mouse there is nothing for
changing e.g.
Wheel Down > Screen down
Wheel Up > Screen up
Button Forward > Control + Left click
Button Back > Shift + Left click

2021-06-29 Thread Rob Frohne
Sure. I'm attaching the file. The time now is 6:30 a.m. and the bug
report says it was about twelve hours ago (and it might have been 13 or
14 hours ago if I trust my memory more). I don't have an SD card very
handy at this time, but if you wish, I can retrieve one and do the test
again, and give you the more exact time. :-)

[Bug 1933890] [NEW] No wacom tablet or stylus discovered, Fujitsu T935

2021-06-28 Thread Rob Frohne
Public bug reported:

I installed Ubuntu 21.04 on my Fujitsu T935, which has a Wacom stylus
and screen. The command line seems to find it, and it works fine, but I
cannot calibrate it without the gnome-control-center.

$ xsetwacom --list devices
Wacom MultiTouch Sensor Finger touchid: 10 type: TOUCH
Wacom MultiTouch Sensor Pen stylus id: 11 type: STYLUS
Wacom MultiTouch Sensor Pen eraser id: 15 type: ERASER

Any ideas what to do?

Thanks,

[Bug 1933889] [NEW] Unmounted SD card does not show it is unmounted

2021-06-28 Thread Rob Frohne
Public bug reported:

Normally, I unmount an SD card by clicking on the little arrow symbol
beside it in the left panel of nautilus. Normally, the little symbol
disappears when I do that. Today, I went to do that, and it is still
there. If I click on it again, it complains "No object for D-Bus
interface." Before first clicking to unmount it, I find it in
/media/username/ but after first clicking to unmount it it is gone from
there, which seems to indicate that it did actually unmount. This is
confusing.

I think there is still an issue with the scrolling in fact. Trackpad on
laptop does not obey any changes on either mouse our touchpad settings
from Ubuntu... Seems only the logitech (K400+ for reference) using
Solaar v1.05 behaves as expected now since update...

[Bug 1918370] Re: 21.04 natural scrolling broken

2021-03-10 Thread Rob Hendricks
You guys have been super quick to reply,,, There's been an issue with
Logitech's Solaar 'Unifying' wireless adapter... the update certainly
did not want to come down easily on 21.04... Now at 1.05... still have
my other issue open which is a little more relevant that literally
cannot super/(or)/alt-tab to more than the first two open apps (on both
laptop keyboard && on wireless one)...

Have opened seperately I thought, but only see this bug... super alone
shows all apps cascaded as expected.

[Bug 1901430] Re: After suspend stylus position confused about rotated screen in multi-monitor setup

2020-11-07 Thread Rob Frohne
Okay, so here is the new work-around. You put this file in
/usr/lib/systemd/system-sleep/
I called it 20_map-to-display. Call it what you like. It needs to be
executable.

#!/bin/sh
export HOME=/home/frohro/
export DISPLAY=:0

case $1/$2 in
post/*)
/usr/bin/su frohro -c "/usr/bin/sleep 3;/usr/bin/xinput
map-to-output 13 LVDS-1"
/usr/bin/su frohro -c "/usr/bin/sleep 3;/usr/bin/xinput
map-to-output 14 LVDS-1"
/usr/bin/su frohro -c "/usr/bin/sleep 3;/usr/bin/xinput
map-to-output 16 LVDS-1"
;;
esac

I hope this is useful to someone else.

[Bug 1901430] Re: After suspend stylus position confused about rotated screen in multi-monitor setup

2020-11-07 Thread Rob Frohne
This kept bothering me so I came up with a work-around. I put the
following file (with chmod 755 so it could be executed) in
/etc/pm/sleep.d/ and called it 20_map-to-display. You have to use the
xinput and xrandr commands to determine what your display is called
(where I have LVDS-1) and which input devices are not mapped properly
(numbers to put in where I have 13, 14, and 16), and modify those
parameters. I think I also had to install pm-utils with apt.

PATH=/sbin:/usr/sbin:/bin:/usr/bin

case "${1}" in
resume|thaw)
sleep 5
xinput map-to-output 13 LVDS-1
xinput map-to-output 14 LVDS-1
xinput map-to-output 16 LVDS-1
;;

I hope this helps anyone else with my particular problem.

[Bug 1878688] [NEW] Nautilus Bookmarks Stick to mouse cursor when clicked

2020-05-14 Thread Rob Frohne
Public bug reported:

Hi,

On this computer when I click on a saved bookmark it sticks to my mouse
cursor until I hit esc.

Steps to reproduce:
1) Drag a folder in nautilus to the side panel and drop it as a bookmark.
2) Click the Home folder, so it isn't highlighted.
3) Click the folder shortcut you added.
4) Move your mouse toward the right part of the window as if you were now going
to select an item.
5) Note that the bookmark stuck to your mouse cursor.

I tried to delete the bookmark, but can't seem to do that either,
because it is stuck to my mouse.

To better explain this I made a video.

[Bug 1872475] [NEW] Wine programs in the dock don't get the orange circle when executed, but get duplicated at the bottom of the dock instead.

2020-04-13 Thread Rob Frohne
Public bug reported:

I really don't know whether to file this bug report with wine or with
gnome-shell, but it used to work, so I suspect it is a gnome-shell
thing.

How to duplicate it:
-Install a wine program, and put its icon in the gnome dock.
-Click on the wine program icon in the dock.
-An identical icon appears at the bottom of your list of running programs, with
an orange dot, but the original one has no orange dot to indicate it is running.

What should happen:
-No duplicate icon should be displayed at the bottom of your dock, and the
orange dot should appear beside the original icon.

See my screenshot included. The icon to look at is the LTSpice one, 11
from the top, and then find it also near the bottom of the dock with an
orange dot.

Thanks for your good work!

[Bug 1872302] [NEW] Bluetooth-Settings Connect button must be pressed multiple times to achieve connection

2020-04-12 Thread Rob Frohne
Public bug reported:

When connecting my headphones, I have to press the Connect button over
and over again before the connection finally takes place. I am filing
this with gnome-bluetoooth, because with my Android phone, it works
flawlessly. I took a screenshot of the page where this happens in the
settings and am including it here.

[Bug 1872266] [NEW] Activities missing stuff when using dual monitors

2020-04-11 Thread Rob Frohne
Public bug reported:

This is mostly just cosmetic, but when I use a second monitor with my
laptop, and click the Activities in the upper left-hand corner, it looks
like it is missing the bottom half of the icons for the applications,
and perhaps other things I'm searching for. See the screenshot
attached. It looks fine when I'm using only the builtin monitor on the
laptop.

[Bug 1869827] [NEW] Gnome Settings not able to change sound device

2020-03-30 Thread Rob Frohne
Public bug reported:

This is a recent bug (last week or so). Fortunately a work around is to use
https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/906/sound-output-device-chooser/
which works. I'm not sure this is the right package to put this bug report in.
I mean the settings with the gear icon in Ubuntu 20.04. See the photo
attached. When you select other options other than the default laptop
speakers, you still get sound through the laptop speakers.

Thanks for all your hard work!

[Bug 1864638] [NEW] e-cal-recur: Incorrect timezone used for DTEND from DURATION

2020-02-25 Thread Rob N
Public bug reported:

Recurring events from CalDAV with DTSTART and DURATION but no DTEND get
incorrect timezone for the end time.

Reported upstream:

https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/evolution-data-server/issues/194

And fixed:

https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/evolution-data-
server/-/commit/80072aea88235e1cfe2223d8d5c7d9605700a71f

I'd love to see this backported to 18.04. The equivalent patch against
3.28.5 should just be:

--- evolution-data-server-3.28.5.orig/src/calendar/libecal/e-cal-recur.c
+++ evolution-data-server-3.28.5/src/calendar/libecal/e-cal-recur.c

[Bug 1859774] Re: Full screen window becomes "small" in the upper left of the screen...

2020-02-13 Thread Rob Frohne
An interesting and maybe useful thing I found when I log out and back in
again, it comes up in a very much different resolution, though the
settings say it is 1920x1080. See the screenshot (not cropped).

So when I went to make changes back to what I prefer, I found the 200%
was on. It wasn't at 200% before I relogged in.

I'll keep you posted.

Thanks,

Rob

[Bug 1859774] Re: Full screen window becomes "small" in the upper left of the screen...

2020-02-13 Thread Rob Frohne
Thanks Daniel!

I looked and somehow the Gnome Extensions page and found the top extension in
this screenshot enabled.
I can't seem to figure out how to actually uninstall these three extensions.
Are they perhaps enstalled by Ubuntu?
I have rebooted and went back to straight gnome shell without wayland.
The screenshot I put up from libeoffice presenter was not a whole thing. I
temporarily forgot how to get the whole thing, as I usually don't want the
whole thing, so I just did most of it as you noted.
The settings has 1920x1080.
I removed the ~/.config/monitors.xml and while I was there I noted some similar
files. Could they be causing this?

[Bug 1859774] Re: Full screen window becomes "small" in the upper left of the screen...

2020-02-13 Thread Rob Frohne
This is still happening, so I decided to see if using wayland would
help, but it is the same. Here I'm enclosing an interesting screen shot
(partial screen only) showing that when you hit f5 in libreoffice
presenter, it thinks the screen is the upper left part of the screen. I
thought this might be a hint, because, you could look at what routines
libreoffice was calling for the slide show, and it might give a hint as
to where the problem lies.

2020-01-19 Thread Rob Frohne
Yes, it happens in evince, and some others.  Funny thing is that chrome
seems immune, except for viewing pdf applications, and they end up in
the upper left hand corner of chrome, but the whole chrome window is
there.  You just can't scroll them back to the center of the window.

[Bug 1859774] Re: Full screen window becomes "small" in the upper left of the screen...

2020-01-19 Thread Rob Frohne
Hi Daniel,

The issues with the screenshot size is probably because I'm using
Flameshot and was selecting with the mouse the screen, instead of doing
a screenshot of the whole thing.

I uninstalled GSConnect and Onscreen Keyboard Button, and Sound Input
and Output Device Chooser. I'll restart and see what transpires.

Thanks,

Rob

The screenshot was not done perfectly, and it is a tad difficult to get
it that way, because it is uncertain how much of the window title bar to
include. The dimensions I get are 764x436 on the inset part. (See

[Bug 1859774] Re: Full screen window becomes "small" in the upper left of the screen...

2020-01-16 Thread Rob Frohne
Unfortunately it is back. I did notice this time that it happened just
after waking from suspend, and I think that has been the pattern. This
should be useful. Here is the xrandr output.

[Bug 1859774] Re: Full screen window becomes "small" in the upper left of the screen...

2020-01-15 Thread Rob Frohne
Thanks for working on this Daniel. Your supposition is likely an the
right track. Before I started on this consulting assignment (the
beginning of this year) I was using two external monitors, one on my
desk at home, and one at school. They were different. I also was using
some projectors in classrooms that were different yet. It really
behaves like some part of the system thinks the screen is smaller than
it is. Last year I was using 1920x1080, because I could put smaller text
on the external monitor. Now I have just this laptop, and so I changed
the resolution to 1600x900. I think that is about when I started
noticing this. I moved the monitors.xml, and rebooted. It hasn't
reappeared, and it sometimes took a little time before I noticed it, so
I'm not ready to say that fixed it. I'll let you know if it didn't and
supply you with the xrandr output then too.

Again, thanks for looking at this. It was kind of annoying, though I
could expand and contract the window, and that one would be good for a
while.

[Bug 1859774] [NEW] Full screen window becomes "small" in the upper left of the screen...

2020-01-15 Thread Rob Frohne
Public bug reported:

This happens with a number of different programs, so I suspect it is a
window manager bug. The best way to describe it is with a screen shot.
The only responsive part of the screen is the small window in the upper
left. You can hit the little maximize box and it goes back to full
screen okay, but after a while it comes back to this. It can be
annoying, because sometimes you can't quickly see what happened to the
title bar. I'm using Ubuntu 19.10. This has been happening for about a
week.

[Bug 1845046] Re: Bluetooth headphones/speaker default to low quality headset mode and fails to switch to A2DP when selected

2019-10-29 Thread Rob Frohne
I spent 45 minutes playing with this problem this morning. I restarted
my computer this morning, but nothing helped. Now, after work, where
the computer was in suspended, but not restarted, and used periodically,
and it works just fine. I did connect another headset to see if it was
a Sony problem, and now both headsets work as expected. I do know that
A2DP is deactivated if you select the microphone on the headset, but
this morning I switched that back and forth several times with no
effect. Fortunately, or unfortunately as it may be, I cannot now
duplicate the results I had this morning, and I can't figure out why.
It may have happened when I connected the headset to bluetooth again to
test this evening. I cannot remember if I disconnected the headset and
reconnected it this morning.

[Bug 1847639] [NEW] Podcast can't resume play once it was paused

2019-10-10 Thread Rob
Public bug reported:

I just installed a fresh Ubuntu 19.10 and added a Podcast. I downloaded
an episode and pressed play. The podcast did not started to play. The
timecode "jumps" to 00:00:00 but it simply does not start. When I
pressed the pause button, it stopped, but once I pressed the play button
again, it did not resume either. I tried this various times, it does not
matter if the episode is downloaded or streamed. Overall system sound
works just fine out of the box.

[Bug 1717807] Re: When the menu contains too elements, the bottom ones does not appear

2018-06-19 Thread Rob Frawley 2nd
I also experienced this bug with a different clipboard history
indicator. Also, these kind of applications (those that keep a history
of clipboard contents for easy retrieval) are relatively common, so I
disagree with the "low" priority categorization of this bug, which
literally makes any indicator that is higher than your given screen
height useless. As the sole purpose of this plugin is to display and
allow interaction with indicators, such an issue seems fairly important.

[Bug 1687246] Re: GNOME Shell should support fractional (non-integer) Hi-DPI scaling

2018-05-04 Thread Rob Parker
Another consideration are users with Nvidia graphics.

>From what I understand, GNOME Shell's fractional scaling support only
works with Wayland.

But Nvidia's proprietary driver doesn't yet support Wayland. Some may
argue the fault for that situation lies with Nvidia.

But this is nonetheless a regression from Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, where the
default desktop (Unity 7) has fractional scaling support which works
with Nvidia's proprietary driver.

All that said, even for users without Nvidia graphics, I suppose the
regression (of loosing fractional scaling support) also exists given
that Ubuntu 18.04 LTS, for understandable reasons, has gone back to
X.org by default.

Personally I'll probably be sticking with Ubuntu 16.04 LTS for the
foreseeable future, due to this.

[Bug 1681269] Re: Launcher Type=link, can not be opened with other application

2018-04-15 Thread Rob Peters
OK, I had to go back and think about this for a moment since I am no
longer on 17.04. I have tested this issue on both Ubuntu as well as
Ubuntu Bodgie, both on 18.04 and the same thing is happening with
Nautilus as the default.

To duplicate the issue, take the desktop file below, save it to the desktop as
calendar.desktop.
Then, right click on the file. You should be able to open it with gedit.
However, if it loads, gedit is empty or contains the last buffer from the
previous file edited. You can't set permissions on the desktop file with a
right click e.g. set it executable.

[Bug 1292398] Re: Second screen position isn't saved from one session to another

2017-06-12 Thread Rob
I had a problem with Ubuntu 14.04 and the latest supported nvidia
drivers. Every time I locked my screen, it would lose the orientation. I
was regularly using the nvidia X server settings application to correct
the screen layout.

In order to correct it, I opened the System Settings application and
made a couple modifications via the Displays options, and applied my
changes. The changes weren't important, I just put it back to the same
settings when I was done. Now the displays stay put when I lock my
screen.

[Bug 1665140] Re: Emoji that should be wide, according to Unicode 9, display incorrectly in the terminal

2017-02-21 Thread Rob Speer
> I believe it's the distro's responsibility to ship glib, glibc and vim
so that all use the same Unicode version.

Sounds right, and it's good to hear that there's progress on this front.
I was afraid the situation was stagnant and it would be up to
applications to fix it.

> Or even better, but it takes more time and a heavy refactoring: There
should be a single core Unicode library that glibc, glib, vim etc. all
depend on. Unfortunately I find it unlikely to get implemented.

Working a lot with Unicode myself, the thing is that the number of
things a Unicode library could do is enormous and no application needs
all of them. Many developers consider linking to, for example, ICU to be
unacceptable bloat, and I don't blame them.

> Also note that in gnome-terminals' Profile Preferences, under the
Compatibility tab you can choose whether you want ambiguous width
characters to be narrow or wide.

I wouldn't want to set *all* ambiguous characters to be wide, like a
Japanese OS -- that would break many more things. It's only the emoji
that changed.

Thanks for the responses.

[Bug 1665140] [NEW] Emoji that should be wide, according to Unicode 9, display incorrectly in the terminal

2017-02-15 Thread Rob Speer
Public bug reported:

When editing Unicode in the terminal, it is important for the terminal
and applications to agree on the width of characters. Otherwise, display
glitches will occur.

In prior versions of Unicode, the character width of emoji was
"ambiguous". As of Unicode 9, they are supposed to be double-wide and
take up two character cells. gnome-terminal displays them as
overlapping, single-wide characters, like it has for a long time. This
is a problem because many applications I use on Ubuntu now treat emoji
as double-wide. The behavior of gnome-terminal conflicts with the cursor
positioning in vim, for example.

I've long considered gnome-terminal to have the least buggy Unicode
implementation among terminal applications, and this may no longer be
the case.

The *desired behavior* of emoji is that they are double-wide: they take
up two character cells, advance the cursor by two cells when displayed,
and text-editing applications move the cursor by two cells when moving
past them. The *actual behavior* is inconsistent: typically, the emoji
advance the cursor only by one character cell, even though the text-
editing cursor moves by two character cells when moving past them,
causing the cursor to be misaligned with the text.

I hope this bug reporting interface lets me attach screenshots so I can
show the example with vim.

[Bug 1594634] [NEW] ZFS on iscsi target fails at boot/shutdown

2016-06-20 Thread Rob
Public bug reported:

I've got a ZFS volume on an ISCSI target, once the system boots I can
bring it online.

My ISCSI target shows up as:

root@test:/home/rob# lsblk
NAME MAJ:MIN RM SIZE RO TYPE MOUNTPOINT
sda 8:00 8.1T 0 disk

root@test:/home/rob# zpool status
  pool: data2
 state: ONLINE
  scan: none requested
config:

NAMESTATE READ WRITE CKSUM
data2 ONLINE 0 0 0
  sda ONLINE 0 0 0

errors: No known data errors

root@test:/home/rob# df -h
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
--- snip --
data2 3.1T 0 3.1T 0% /data2
data2/backup3.2T 165G 3.1T 6% /data2/backup
data2/test 7.7T 4.7T 3.1T 61% /data2/test

However in the case of a system shutdown/reboot the system tries to
unmount the disk after the network has been brought down which obviously
fails.

When booting the system the zpool never gets imported as the 'zfs-
import-cache.service' runs before the iscsi target is initiated.
