[Bug 478361] Re: ubuntu 9.10 doesn't resume after sleep macbook pro 4, 1

2009-11-10 Thread lubuntu
I have inserted SUSPEND_MODULES=sky2 to
/etc/pm/config.d/00sleep_module according to
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1051291 but this didn't change
anything.

Also I disactivated the nvidia driver 185 from Hardware drivers, but
no change still.

Browsing the web I got the impression that the kernel 2.6.31-14 is held
responsible, so maybe I need to wait a bit.

bizar: with uninstalling the nvidia 185 driver the function keys have
swapped: I now have to push Fn-F1 to get what I had under F1. And
pressing F1 alone plays on the brightness of my screen.

[Bug 478361] Re: ubuntu 9.10 doesn't resume after sleep macbook pro 4, 1

2009-11-10 Thread lubuntu
concerning the previous comment on the function keys: the F1 and Fn-F1
keys remained swapped after reinstalling the nvidia 185 driver. I had to
'/etc/init.d/pommed stop' and edit the fn value in /etc/pommed.conf,
then '/etc/init.d/pommed start' and then (yes!) stop it again, edit the
fn value again back to the original ('2' in my case) and start pommed
again. Now it's back to normal.

I've also noticed that it the nvidia 185 installation that cause the
login screen to be factor of 2 to BIG vertically. My 17 screen is
1680x1050 which is properly recognized by the 185 driver, but apparently
the gdm daemon reads /etc/X11/xorg.conf and find 1680x2068 (or
2000something). When you change this 2000something to 1050 the next
login will have a proper size.

To clarify: I had this problem after the upgrade 9.04 - 9.10, I changed
the 2000something to 1050 so I know that it is the ___nvidia___ driver
that's causing it (maybe indirectly).

[Bug 478361] [NEW] ubuntu 9.10 doesn't resume after sleep macbook pro 4, 1

2009-11-08 Thread lubuntu
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: yelp

I upgraded from 9.04 on a macbook pro 4,1 and the sleep/resume cycle
doesn't work anymore. I have the impression that it never properly goes
to sleep: the screen goes dark, but not dark-dark. I've had a cursor
flickering once when I try to resume.

I resolved a similar issue on 9.04 by installing the nvidia 185 driver
and removing the sync to blank in the nvidia X-configuration tool
(several instances). Now with 9.10 the same 185 is still there. I've re-
selected the 'restricted' repository for Karmic.

The syslog doesn't give a clear indication that something went wrong. It
notices avahi-daemon: registering new address record
