To save some time, and as mentioned in bug #162111, this problem is fixed by installing wine-1.3 (available from the ppa) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to poppler in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/568495 Title: Evince frequently replaces "pi" glyphs with "not equal to" and other substitutions. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 568495] Re: Evince frequently replaces "pi" glyphs with "not equal to" and other substitutions.
As I suspected, this is a WINE issue/problem. There a couple of possible solutions in comments #25 to #29 in bug #162111 -- Evince frequently replaces "pi" glyphs with "not equal to" and other substitutions. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/568495 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to poppler in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 568495] Re: Evince frequently replaces "pi" glyphs with "not equal to" and other substitutions.
I have the following installed: wine 1.2.1-0ubuntu1 ttf-mscorefonts-installer 3.2 I removed ttf-mscorefonts-installer, but still have the problem (and still get the same result of fc-math Symbol). fc-match --verbose Symbol|grep file gives me: file: "/usr/share/fonts/truetype/ttf-symbol-replacement/symbol-replacement.ttf/symbol.ttf"(s) /usr/share/fonts/X11/Type1/Symbol.pfb does exist for me (symbolic link to ../../type1/mathml/Symbol.pfb. Also the ttf-symbol-replacement package has the dependant package as wine, so I think you are on the right path madbiologist. I set up a virtualbox fresh ubuntu image (no wine) 32bit 10.10 and had no problems with the symbols. fc-math provides the same results as what you get. Seems like the ttf-symbol-replacement package is the culprit. Very good work madbiologist. Unfortunately I need wine for my slingplayer application. Do you have any suggestions of what to do next. [Bug 568495] Re: Evince frequently replaces "pi" glyphs with "not equal to" and other substitutions.
Do you have WINE installed? What about ttf-mscorefonts? I have neither installed. Something is causing fontconfig to choose a different symbol font on your system than on my system. To see the full details of the file being used type fc-match --verbose Symbol|grep file I get: file: "/usr/share/fonts/X11/Type1/Symbol.pfb"(s) -- Evince frequently replaces "pi" glyphs with "not equal to" and other substitutions. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/568495 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to poppler in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

I am running the 32bit version of Ubuntu (2.6.35-22-generic i686 GNU/Linux). fc-match Symbol gives me: symbol.ttf: "Symbol" "Regular" I'm not sure exactly what that means, but it is different than what you got madbiologist. -- Evince frequently replaces "pi" glyphs with "not equal to" and other substitutions. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/568495 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to poppler in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

acocaracha - the file you attached to comment #12 displays fine here. I cannot see the errors on pages 9 and 12. I'm also using Ubuntu 10.10 32bit with the same version of libpoppler7 as you.
