Re: Updated GNOME 2.24 Showstopper Review

2008-09-18 Thread Vincent Untz
Hi,

Here's a reminder about some showstoppers :-) I won't do a mail as good
as Andre's mails (especially since I didn't update the status), but
well, that should be enough.

First, let's start with some new showstoppers:

gvfsd-trash crashed with SIGSEGV in g_main_context_dispatch()
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=547568
There's a patch waiting for some tests there. So if you can reproduce,
go try it!

Automatically load gail:atk-bridge if AT_SPI_IOR is set on root window
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=535827
It seems it's mostly some gconf schemas needing to be installed now.
Should be done in at-spi.

And here are the old bugs (the gnome-desktop one was reopened with a
patch to fix the old patch). It looks like smb with gvfs is not really
working...

 EPIPHANY

Component registration sometimes lost at runtime
 http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=535127
 Dataloss bug.

 crash in IA__gtk_tree_model_get_valist
 http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=512313
Patch available, but probably not the right way to fix this.

 GNOME-DESKTOP

Exit due to unhandled X error when updating resolution
 http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=537592
svu has problems reproducing this, more input and help tracking this
down very appreciated, as we expect lots of users running into this.

 GNOME-PANEL

 crash in gtk_rc_reset_styles()
 http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=446183
1006 duplicates (20 last week) and still happening in 2.22, related to
 theme problems.
Any investigations and more comments appreciated!

 GVFS

nautilus does not display samba shares for machines inside an ADS
 network
 http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=524485
This is a regression from 2.20.x. A patch is available and Tomaš is
 looking at it this week.

 Unable to browse smb shares
 http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=547597
This has come up lately and so far there has been no activity to fix
 this.

Thanks Andre.

 EVOLUTION

 Camel Disk summary bugs

This is a meta bug. Not all of the dependencies need to be resolved for

I would consider two blockers there
(1) duplicate mails on pop accounts
(2) vfolder/junk/trash counts mismatch. (multiple bugs on the meta bug,
need to close the dups)

I'm working on them.

I think I just found a new showstopper bug:

http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=550647

When mounting volumes with GIO, if the mount helper does not return its
console output at once (for instance for an internal floppy disk), the
mounting application freezes until the entire buffer is read. This is
particularly problematic as Nautilus tries to automount all volumes on
startup. If you don't run a volume monitor, it is assumed that an
internal floppy disk is present and you end up with a ~30 second
application freeze at each startup.

I don't understand why gnome-python-desktop or gnome-python needs to use

Again, why gnome-python-desktop should be ported to gio?

It sounds like a simpe grep-find generated list, but I doubt it applies
to python bindings.

Toms fix it just a moment ago. There where a couple of Python 2.5

change the python version on the configure.ac.
So this bugs is not blocking any more :-)

Re: GNOME 2.24 Showstopper Review

2008-08-31 Thread Alberto Ruiz
2008/8/31 Andre Klapper [EMAIL PROTECTED]:
GNOME 2.24.0 release is on September 22 (see [1]), and we still have
enough 2.24 blocker bugs (and other bugs of course) to fix for
everybody! Take a look, test help out, clean up our platform, make
 2.24 better!

 * http://live.gnome.org/GioPort :
 PATCHES: alacarte, gnome-applets, gnome-utils, gnome-build, gdl,
 TODO: gnome-python-desktop, gnome-utils, sabayon, anjuta

I tried to guess how to patch sabayon[0], however, I couldn't find any
clear examples on how to understand and use the monitor API for
gnome-vfs and gio to be able to come up with a patch.

Anyone willing to help here?
