[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1623763] Re: GTK Inspector Statistics tab non-functional
** Changed in: gtk Status: Confirmed => Unknown -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to glib2.0 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1623763 Title: GTK Inspector Statistics tab non-functional Status in GTK+: Unknown Status in Ubuntu GNOME: New Status in glib2.0 package in Ubuntu: Triaged Status in glib2.0 package in Debian: Won't Fix Bug description: Running a GTK+ 3 app with GOBJECT_DEBUG=instance-count enables the Statistics tab in GTK Inspector, but after clicking the Record button it never starts collecting statistics. This makes it difficult to develop and debug memory leaks in GTK programs on Ubuntu. To reproduce: 1. Start an app with the Inspector and GOBJECT_DEBUG=instance-count set, e.g.: > GOBJECT_DEBUG=instance-count GTK_DEBUG=interactive gnome-calculator 2. Click the Statistics tab 3. Click the Record button 4. Click around the app a bit Expected: Object counts go up, pretty graphs showing things Actual: Object counts stay at 0, pretty graphs showing flat lines This seems like it is Ubuntu-specific, since when running GTK+ programs installed via Flatpak (and hence using the Flatpak runtime), the above works fine on the same system. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1208993] Re: Ubuntu slows down and hangs while copying file from/to USB
I'm having this issue right now on 16.04. What's strange, is that if I copy say 600GB worth of thousands of files, about half way through, Xorg will start chewing up resources, and everything slows down to a hault, even though literally the only thing I ever opened was Nautilus. I never opened Firefox, or anything elses. Straight boot to the file manager to copy files. It's a weird issue to say the least, because I can't determine why Xorg would be freaking out on large file copying. If the files finish, the performance is still poor until I reboot the machine. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1208993 Title: Ubuntu slows down and hangs while copying file from/to USB Status in nautilus package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Hi While copying many and large files to and from a USB drive, the system becomes incredibly slow and sometimes hangs. *** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1610200 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1610200 Status changed to 'Confirmed' because the bug affects multiple users. ** Changed in: nautilus (Ubuntu) Status: New => Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1615862 Title: nautilus file copy dialog does not always close properly on completion Status in nautilus package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: The new 'Moving/Copying X files to..." dialog in nautilus doesn't always close properly on completion (although the text does change to 'Moved/Copied'). When this happens, the filled-in circle in nautilus' title bar stays on and the nautilus icon in the unity launcher continues to indicate that an operation is still in progress, even though it in fact complete. If you close nautilus and re-open it, the 'Moved/Copied' dialog appears at the top of the screen, detached from the nautilus window (see attached image). When it does work properly, after a few seconds the filled-in circle in nautilus disappears, the move/copy dialog disappears, and the unity launcher icon resets to its non-copying mode. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1380480] Re: network disabled after suspend - resume
This crucial bug that undermines the reputation of Ubuntu has remained opened for a very long time. Obviously, the fix seams complicated since it still has not arrived. But meantime, people want a working laptop, period. This is the kind of bug that pushed many previous Linux users to migrate to Mac OS X, simply because the latter simply works. May I suggest that someone at Canonical simply push a script under '/etc/pm/power.d' that calls 'systemctl restart NetworkManager.service' upon resume until all power management and networking issues are resolved? At least, this will give people back a system that "just works". -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to network-manager in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1380480 Title: network disabled after suspend - resume Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in network-manager package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Background: this started to happen after the upgrade to Utopic Beta 1 3) When I close the laptop's lid and open, the wifi should reconnect 4) Wifi does not reconnect. Public bug reported: On Ubuntu 16.10 x64 with Nautilus 3.20.3. I removed 11097 files three hours ago. Every time I open Nautilus now, a popup saying the operation completed is displayed. Delete any existing credentials by deleting passwords marked "com.ubuntu.UbuntuOne.GnomeSoftware" using Seahorse. 2. Start GNOME Software 3. Search for a snap (e.g. "moon-buggy") 4. Install Snap 5. Enter Ubuntu One credentials when prompted Observed result: Dialog says "Incorrect email or password". Expected result: Authentication completes and the snap is installed. [Regression Potential] The solution is to use a new D-Bus service (snapd-login-service) and new library (snapd-glib) to get the Macaroon from snapd. This has some risk of introducing new bugs. The change is minimised (other snapd code paths unchanged) and the alternative is login to be impossible. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1579501] Re: graphics distorted, lightdm restarting
The new 304.132 driver appears to be broken in 16.10 main and 16.04 ppa (won't insmod, missing mtrr symbols). I did manage to test it on debian unstable and believe I'm still hitting this bug with the new driver. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers-304-updates in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1579501 Title: graphics distorted, lightdm restarting Status in nvidia-graphics-drivers-304-updates package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: The system was running ubuntu 12.04 without any problems, quite fast and definitly worth keeping, I was able to play 3D games at decent quality while using official nvidia drivers. Overall a pretty stable system based on an Intel 965 Chipset and a Geforce 7600. I did a clean install of 16.04 and added nvidia-graphics- drivers-304-updates. At first the system was horribly unstable, displayed garbage at the slighted GPU load, even starting frozen bubble in full screen made lightdm restart. After using "dconf write /org/compiz/profiles/unity/plugins/opengl/enable-x11-sync false" the system became stable but display is still often distorted, missing picture elements, doesn't draw all elements in firefox, scrolling of firefox and terminal output is missing parts. This happens around once every minute so it is still workable but unprofessional. Happens a lot more often in Firefox than any other application. Also I have the feeling lots of stuff is working a lot slower than it did in 12.04, e.g. starting frozen bubble in full screen takes a lot longer than earlier. I think this error is somewhere between nvidia drivers, compiz and firefox. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1574324] Re: pulseaudio crashes when connecting to bluetooth headphones (due to ubuntu changes?)
Luke: Should we open a new bug in regard to the profile switching bug? I see something similar to #103 with your PPA. I will personally continue to use my own ppa, and will probably publish a version 4, when this pushes, so profile switching still works 100%, until that other bug is resolved. Thank you again. Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely manner.
