[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1738593] [NEW] disks should synchronize with fstab

There does not seem to be any way to disable this behavior apart from disabling avahi or its ability to talk to dbus, which causes side effects on the system. Yet, in some environments this behavior is a definite regression over the old one and leads to an extremely poor user experience. On some networks: - The print dialogs takes 3-10 sec to open which is a huge amount of time for an action that is expected to be instantaneous and for which there is no visual feedback. - The print dialog contains many tens of printer entries, all identified by weird hex strings that cannot be related to any useful location, that do not help identifying which entry corresponds to which printer and that only mess up the list making it hard to find the printers that are actually useful. For instance, suppose that you work at some office that has recently purchased a batch of new printers all the same model. In the print dialog you may get many entries like: HP_Laserjet_Pro_Mxxxdw_21ACF2 which only vary in the final hex string. How is one suppose to know what is where? Please make it possible to disable this driverless printer madness. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1720725] Re: Enable multiarch in libsndfile1-dev
** Tags added: artful packaging -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to libsndfile in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1720725 Title: Enable multiarch in libsndfile1-dev Status in libsndfile package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Release: Artful Aardvark 17.10 Package version: 1.0.28-4 The current version of libsndfile1-dev is not able to be marked Multi- Arch: same, because the examples it provides includes an autoheader (?) generated config.h file, which has architecture-specific defines like SIZEOF_INT. However, as far as I can tell, this header, as well as common.h and sfconfig.h aren't actually used in any of the examples, despite being included sometimes. So if they were removed, it should be possible to mark the dev package as Multi-Arch: same. I was able to install both amd64 and i386 versions of libsndfile1-dev after removing the examples. For a more long-term solution, the header includes in debian/libsndfile1-dev.examples can probably be removed once those extra includes are removed. A change on the github repo for libsndfile was recently merged to get rid of the extra includes, as it's also probably a bad idea to (unnecessarily) include internal header files in example code. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1731792] Re: Can't install libsndfile1-dev on Ubuntu 16.04.2 x86_64
Thanks for taking your time to report this issue and help making Ubuntu better. I tried to reproduce this issue on Ubuntu 16.04, but was able to install libsndfile1-dev without similar issues. It might be that apt tried to install an older version of the -dev package which caused a version mismatch with libsndfile1. Could you please run `sudo apt update` to update the package list and see if that solves the problem. If the issue persits, could you add the output from `apt policy libsndfile1-dev` to see which version of the dev package it tries to install? Btw, when reporting bugs in the future please use apport by using 'ubuntu-bug' and the name of the package affected. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1738528] [NEW] Sound applet reflects volume of different device when bluetooth device auto-connects
Public bug reported: As currently set up in Ubuntu 16.04, when an audio device connects via bluetooth, it starts being used by programs automatically. However, the sound applet still "points to" the previously selected audio output. Therefore, changing the volume has no immediate audible effect. The way to change that, currently, is to go to Sound settings, select the bluetooth device as current output (again?), and then the volume will change. I would expect that, when a bluetooth device is connected, it starts being used, *and* changing the volume immediately will affect the bluetooth device. I googled a bit, and people have suggested [1] that the file /etc/pulse/default.pa should contain load-module module-switch-on- connect before the volume is restored. My installation does not have that line, but it does have: ### Should be after module-*-restore but before module-*-detect load-module module-switch-on-port-available According to [1], maybe this should be listed in that file *before* the aforementioned module-*-restore lines.
