[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1459359] Re: Gtk & Glib CRITICAL messages at startup (regression)

2016-08-18 Thread André Desgualdo Pereira
After installing `libgdk-pixbuf2.0-dev` I was able to run `sudo gdk-
pixbuf-query-loaders --update-cache` but it doesn't fix the problem.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1424609] Re: Can not print in landscape

2015-03-16 Thread André Desgualdo Pereira
Another workaround:
1. Print to pdf file choosing the format A5 Portrait;
2. Open the pdf and print choosing the format A4 Landscape.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1424609] Re: Can not print in landscape

2015-03-12 Thread André Desgualdo Pereira
Finally I found a workaround. The attached odt file can be printed correctly in
landscape.
So I guess the problem can be with custom page format (size).

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1424609] [NEW] Can not print in landscape

2015-02-23 Thread André Desgualdo Pereira
Public bug reported:

All jobs are printed in portrait.

No matter which file is (pdf, odt, jpg).

Even from command line (lp -o landscape file.pdf) the problem persist.

Different paper sizes also do not matter (A4, A5).

Changing printer makes no difference.

Changing connection (usb, network attached) also makes no difference.

Attached an example file that could not be printed in landscape.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1321724] [NEW] Compiz Plugin scaleaddon not working

2014-05-21 Thread André Desgualdo Pereira

The Scale Addon plugin is not working.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open ccsm
2. Enable scaleaddon
3. Go to Appearance Window Title Window Title Display and set anyone

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1063617] Re: 1:0.9.8+bzr3319-0ubuntu1 regression: keeps setting gsettings keys to wrong values

2014-05-20 Thread André Desgualdo Pereira
I can confirm the workaround using flat file configuration still works at
14.04. Steps to apply:

1. Install compizconfig-settings-manager
2. Open ccsm and go to Preferences Export and save your preferences
saved.profile
3. Change Backend to Flat-file Configuration Backend (here some people get
stucked with a messed desktop with will be fixed at step 4)
4. Import your saved profiled (step 2)

Bug description:
NOTE: This bug is for Ubuntu 12.10 and later only. If you experience
something similar in 12.04 then please see bug 964270.

  ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION:
Since version 1:0.9.8+bzr3319-0ubuntu1, compiz/unity keeps messing up my
gsettings (keybindings and WM prefs). This was already covered in bug 1042041,
but the change there mostly caused the bug to happen consistently now.

At every session startup I have a script to fix my settings like this:

  --- 8
  gsettings reset org.gnome.desktop.wm.preferences auto-raise
  gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.wm.keybindings lower ['Altb']
  gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.wm.keybindings maximize ['SuperUp']
  gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.wm.keybindings unmaximize ['SuperDown']
  gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.wm.preferences focus-mode sloppy
  --- 8

But after restarting compiz, it changes the settings to:

  --- 8
  $ gsettings get org.gnome.desktop.wm.preferences auto-raise
  true
  $ gsettings get org.gnome.desktop.wm.keybindings lower
  ['disabled']
  $ gsettings get org.gnome.desktop.wm.keybindings maximize
  ['ControlPrimarySuperUp']
  $ gsettings get org.gnome.desktop.wm.keybindings unmaximize
  ['ControlPrimarySuperDown']
  $ gsettings get org.gnome.desktop.wm.preferences focus-mode
  'click'
  --- 8

I tried to move away /usr/bin/session-migration, that does not change
anything, so it's not that script.

2014-05-07 Thread André Desgualdo Pereira
Public bug reported:

I am using Ubuntu 14.04 without any ppa or otherwise installed package.

At Nautilus, when we click on File New Document the only option
showed is Empty Document, ie, it does not show the option to create
new files based on the templates at $HOME/Templates. Because of that,
one can not use HUD to create a new document based on his/her templates.

I have reported upstream
(https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=729606) but then I was
referred here.

The behavior is different if I right click on an empty space and select New
Document. Then my templates are showed.

Here are screenshots to illustrate:

  package.

At Nautilus, when we click on File New Document the only option
showed is Empty Document, ie, it does not show the option to create
new files based on the templates at $HOME/Templates. Because of that,
one can not use HUD to create a new document based on his/her
  templates.

  I have reported upstream
  (https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=729606) but then I was
  referred here.

The behavior is different if I right click on an empty space and select New
Document. Then my templates are showed.

  Here are screenshots to illustrate:

USB Printer: some times the jobs are printed and some times not

Status in “cups” package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
This is a Samsung ML-1860 laser monochromatic printer, attached at
  usb.

The problem is: only some pages are printed. Example: I send 6 copies
of some page to print but only 4 are actually printed. Or some times
none of them. Rarely all of them are printed. If I disconnect from
usb, then send the job and reconnect, the chance of get the print done

Title:
  Print fails to print intermittently

Status in “cups” package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
After a fresh Ubuntu 12.04 install, the Samsung Laser Monochromatic
Printer (ML-1860) fails to print intermittently: sometimes it prints
and sometimes it says that it is printed but it is actually not.

If I ask to print 6 copies, it prints around 2 copies (if so).

If I unplug the USB and replug it prints at least the first job sent.
The same if I turn it off and on. But if I run sudo service cups stop
sleep 1 sudo service cups start the problem persists.

I have attached the result of tail -f /var/log/syslog before and
  after plugin the printer.

Occurs reliably on fast Sandy Bridge hardware with a fast GPU - GTX
  485M, GTX 560M or GTX 580M.

Appears to be a race condition. LightDM attempts to start before
/dev/nvidiactrl is created. As a workaround add sleep 1 service
lightdm start to /etc/rc.local to start the service.

  ### This workaround is insufficient. Some users have reported that
their systems do not start after initial user setup. Deleting the
contents of /var/run/dbus/* resolves the issue in these cases. ###

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 771896] Re: No way to save current session

2012-05-10 Thread André Desgualdo Pereira
I have made a workaround until this gets fixed. It is a script that helps to
configure your session. Just paste this at terminal:

cd ~/ wget -c http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4098082/session.config chmod +x
~/session.config ~/session.config

You can view the code of script (
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4098082/session.config ), there are explanations in
each part. It will create a startup script which will move to each viewport and
open the specified application.

*Removing*

To remove any changes made by my script just delete this files:

  - ~/session.config
  - ~/sessionconf
  - ~/sessionconf.bak
  - ~/.config/autostart/sessionconf.desktop

Or run this at terminal:

rm ~/session.config ; rm ~/sessionconf ; rm ~/sessionconf.bak ; rm
~/.config/autostart/sessionconf.desktop

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 873495] Re: LightDM fails to start when installed in OEM mode after nvidia-current or nvidia-current-updates are installed

2012-03-21 Thread André Desgualdo Pereira
Today it has stopped to work again.

Adding sleep 1 above exec lightdm in /etc/init/lightdm.conf fixed it
but put service lightdm start in rc.local don't.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 868819] Re: lightdm doesn't start automatically

2011-11-07 Thread André Desgualdo Pereira
In October I installed the driver 285.05.09 from Nvidia's site to see if the
lighdm work, but had no success (apparently it doesn't load at the boot). So I
decided to uninstall the lighdm. Now I reinstalled lighdm in order to post the
logs, but the bug was not repeated.
Nevertheless, I put the logs here hoping that this may help.
Thank you very much.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 868819] Re: lightdm doesn't start automatically

2011-10-21 Thread André Desgualdo Pereira
I 'm afraid I've done a new installation.
But I'm almost sure the problem wasn't the script but the NVidia driver.
At this new installation if I install that driver I got stuck. If I remove then
everything goes back to normal.
