Title:
[Upstream] Text not black in LibreOffice

Status in LibreOffice Productivity Suite:
  Fix Released
Status in “libreoffice” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed
Status in “libreoffice” source package in Precise:
  Fix Committed
Status in “libreoffice” source package in Quantal:
  In Progress

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: light-themes

When using Ambiance theme the body text in Ooo Writer is not black but
gray. This is quite uncomfortable when writing and thus renders the
theme in effect unusable. See attached png.

  [Impact]

   * Auto-colored text is illegible on dark background in LibreOffice.
   * Use High Contrast theme, unacceptable to customer.
   * User has to mnaually change the color from automatic to white.
   * This is affecting a flagship customer.

  [Test Case]

   * In Libreoffice Impress the text with the color automatic is hard
to read if the background color is set to black (example
  file/screenshot attached).

  [Regression Potential]

   * This patch is a backport form upstream, and has been tested. I do
not see any possible regression potential here.

  [Workaround]
Go to Tools - Options... - LibreOffice - Appearance - Font Color and
change the color from Automatic to Black.

Title:
[Upstream] [regression] font display corruption in merged cells
containing line breaks in Calc when scrolling

Status in LibreOffice Productivity Suite:
  Confirmed
Status in “libreoffice” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: openoffice.org

Pixel rows inside merged and centered cells in Calc get randomly
dropped or (seldom) duplicated when scrolling the sheet. This is a
  regression from openoffice.org-calc 3.2.1-7ubuntu1 res. OpenOffice.org
  3.2.1 which I see in Ubuntu's openoffice.org-calc 3.2.1-7ubuntu1.1 as
  well as in OpenOffice.org 3.3.0 from Sun/Oracle.

  Steps to reproduce:

  1. Select a cell range spanning some cell rows, merge and center the
  selected cells.

  2. Activate wrap text automatically for the merged cells.

  3. Insert a (long) text and leave the cell.

  4. Scroll the sheet.

  Ubuntu release: 10.10
  openoffice.org-calc 3.2.1-7ubuntu1.1

I see this both with Metacity and with Compiz. It doesn't matter
whether Calc runs fullscreen or in a window.

I see this both with Metacity and with Compiz. It doesn't matter
whether Calc runs fullscreen or in a window.

even more useful in some other languages).

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 235602]

2012-08-06 Thread Libreoffice-bugs-i
(In reply to comment #8)

I understand the why now, but I fear that the average user will not understand
this. In his/her view the conditional formatting of cell(s) is damaged when
 inserting row(s)/column(s).

I must be the average user you mention, because I'm afraid that the
current behaviour definitely appears to be buggy to me.

To me, cell references used within conditional formatting should mimic
the behaviour of cell references used in cell formulas.

That is, if a formula (or conditional formatting) refers to another cell
and that other cell is moved then the formula (or conditional
formatting) should be updated to reflect that. As far as I know cell
formulas *always* behave this way.

Also, just so not to confuse a separate issue, the use of A1 vs. $A$1
vs. $Sheet1.$A$1 should make no difference to what I said above.

So I don't really understand why when a precedent cell is moved that the
address used in a conditional format of the dependent cell is not
updated just like it is for cell formulas.

The behaviour is also not consistent depending on the addressing mode
used. Please try again the original test case (
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openoffice.org/+bug/235602/+attachment/321005/+files/Conditional%20formatting%20example.ods
)

Insert a row above row 11, and you should see cells B12 - E12 (now B13 -
E13) retain their green formatting. OK so far.

Now starting with the original test case again, make the following
modification:

In cells B12 to E12, change the conditional formatting to _not_ use
sheet names. That is remove the prefix $Tabell1. from the conditional
formatting test in each. In fact so it looks just like the format
documented in row 8.

Insert a row above row 11, and C12 E12 (now C13 E13) lose their
green formatting.

So, the $Tabell1. prefix is critical to the behaviour. I think it
should have no impact, just as it would not matter when used in a cell
formula.

I hope that all makes sense.

I'm using: LibreOffice 3.5.4.2 Build ID:
165a79a-7059095-e13bb37-fef39a4-9503d18 Windows XP.

Thanks for making LO a great product.

Title:
LibreOffice Recent documents list is always empty

Status in LibreOffice Productivity Suite:
  Fix Released
Status in “libreoffice” package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
Since I upgraded to 12.04 LTS LibreOffice does not populate the list
  of Recent documents.

  What should happen:
  1. Open a document in LibreOffice
  2. Close the document
  3. Go to the menu File Recent Documents
  4. You should see the file you just closed

  What happens:
  1. 2. 3. =
  4. No file appears on the list, instead there is a grayed out No documents.

If I choose Open and then Recently used the file appears but I guess
  this is nautilus recent items.

I can see some (not so) recent items in
/.libreoffice/3/user/registrymodifications.xcu
but newly opened files seem to not be recorded in this file

Bug description:
I have dual X screen configuration on Ubuntu 12.04 with NVidia 6600
  nvidia-current-updates 295.40-0ubuntu1 and XFCE+Metacity. With
libreoffice-gtk installed libreoffice fails to start on second X
screen :0.1. On first X screen :0.0 it loads successfully. On Ubuntu
11.10 it also worked well on both screens.

  This is the error produced:

  #$ libreoffice

  assertion `monitor_num screen_x11-n_monitors' failed

assertion `monitor_num screen_x11-n_monitors' failed
  WARNING: gnome-keyring:: couldn't connect to: /tmp/keyring-XTNyXK/pkcs11: Нет
такого файла или каталога
The program 'soffice' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)'.
(Details: serial 1595 error_code 8 request_code 62 minor_code 0)
(Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

Bug description:
When you download something and choose to open it in LibreOffice, it
will be saved in /tmp. If you choose Save As, the default saving
  location will be in /tmp.

I just lost a partly written exam that way. I thought it was on my
Desktop, but oh no, it was in /tmp and after rebooting it's now gone.

The suggestion is to NEVER let /tmp be the default folder in the Save
dialog, and to ALWAYS warn the user if saving something there.

   lowriter -nologo math_newline_issue.odt

is no upside down question marks are presented in the Math formulas.

  4) What happens is the upside down question marks are present
erroneously due to newline command. If newline is preceded or
followed by some characters (as +, -, =, which are often needed), some
error marks ¿ are obtained, and perhaps only a single line if
displayed (it depends on the character and its relative position to
  newline). Examples :

  a+b_ij = newline = c+d# single line; error mark
  a+b_ij newline = c+d # two lines; missing =; error mark
  a+b_ij newline + c+d # correct behaviour !! The + sign does fine
after newline...
a+b_ij + newline c+d # ... but not before: single line, error mark here
a+b_ij = newline c+d # single line, error mark. The = sign does bad
whether after or before newline

Bug description:
When you download something and choose to open it in LibreOffice, it
will be saved in /tmp. If you choose Save As, the default saving
  location will be in /tmp.

I just lost a partly written exam that way. I thought it was on my
Desktop, but oh no, it was in /tmp and after rebooting it's now gone.

The suggestion is to NEVER let /tmp be the default folder in the Save
dialog, and to ALWAYS warn the user if saving something there.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 817326]

2012-03-19 Thread Libreoffice-bugs
Michael Meeks committed a patch related to this issue.
It has been pushed to libreoffice-3-5:

Title:
[Upstream] Previously-saved LibreOffice document lost by power outage
(became 0 bytes long) - LibreOffice should call fsync

Status in LibreOffice Productivity Suite:
  Fix Released
Status in “libreoffice” package in Ubuntu:
  Triaged

Bug description:
I was working on a document in LibreOffice today while my battery was
low and so I was frequently saving, which I thought would help me if I
lost power. However, when I eventually did lose power and later
rebooted, the document had become 0 bytes long. LibreOffice was not
able to restore the auto-saved copy either. As a result, I have lost a
whole week of notes for one of my courses.

After researching online, it seems that this is caused by the
application not calling fsync() (or fdatasync()) when saving files.
Due to delayed allocation in modern filesystems, there is no guarantee
that the new file's data has actually been written to disk unless the
application calls fsync. So if an app writes a new file and replaces
the old one with it without fsync'ing the new one first then there is
a window of opportunity during which a power failure will result in
the loss of BOTH versions of the file. In ext4 this window is also
  much larger than in ext3.

Theodore Tso blogged about this at http://ldn.linuxfoundation.org
  /blog-entry/delayed-allocation-and-zero-length-file-problem and
  http://www.linuxfoundation.org/news-
  media/blogs/browse/2009/03/don%E2%80%99t-fear-fsync. He strongly
recommends to call fsync in this situation.

Please update LibreOffice to fsync() saved files so that other users
do not lose their data like I did.

Bug description:
I have opened an existing file for the first time in Gutsy with OOo
2.3. After some modifications brought to this file, I noticed some
images had disappeared, but not all images, and an error message was
displayed in a frame of the size of the disappeared image indicating a
read error. Then, I don't saved it to keep my file in its last
correct state, and I made a copy of this file and opened it in
parallel. And at this time the images reappeared in my first modified
file. So, I saved it and closed. After reopening, all images which
had disappeared were not present (not an empty frame, but totally
  removed this time).

After, I opened a new copy of my file and I insert a space and remove it in
order to have save button enabled and my file not modified, and then I saved
it. I wondered why the size increased from 155566 bytes to 159378 with
exactly the same content, maybe a new version of ODF used in OOo 2.3 as this
file was created with OOo 2.0 and last modified on 2.1??? I have redone the
same modifications and this time there was no problem.
I noticed that when I had finished to redo the same modifications, automatic
saving was triggered, that I didn't see the first time. I say that as this is
may be linked to this problem, and the images in the first time disappeared
after a duration of the same order, but this is only an hypothesis and I'm not
sure at all of that (I will try to made some new tests).

I condider this as critical as it leads to a content loss.
