[Desktop-packages] [Bug 2062377] Re: Ubuntu 24.04: gnome-shell crashes on Xorg if a legacy X11 cursor theme is selected

2024-04-30 Thread Marko Hrastovec
Thanks for identifying the cause. I had to use wayland, and now I can go
back to Xorg. For me it was impossible to find out why this was
happening, because I was using DMZ-black, and upgraded from 22.04 much
before if was stable. So I thought it will be resolved by the time of
24.04 launch. Unfortunately, that did not happen. Also had to find a
substitute for a program I use, and it only works in X.

2015-05-22 Thread Marko Hrastovec
I can trigger the bug with docky anytime I want. Just move quickly
through Docky icons with the mouse cursor
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/docky/+bug/1451379). I a few
seconds the screen will freeze. Most of the times I have to wait for
about 30 seconds. I can switch to text (Alt + Ctrl + F1) in the meantime
and see that gnome-shell occupies the computer 100%. Nouveau driver
writes lots of lines into syslog at the same time. But sometimes
everything freezes and only hard reset helps.

It starts like that:

nouveau causes compiz and gnome-shell to use 100% CPU. nvidia-current

Status in xserver-xorg-video-nouveau package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
Every once in a while, usually when I've been reading news and blogs
for a couple of hours, the display freezes up and doesn't respond to
any mouse clicking. Doing ctrl-alt-backspace works as well as ctrl-
alt-f1. I've noticed that if the problem happens a lot in a short
period of time, eventually update-notifier will tell me updates are
available. When I tried ctrl-alt-f1 and ran tops, that's when I
discovered compiz was using 100% cpu so that was what was causing the
display to not respond. I don't know many commands, but killall compiz
did allow me to continue reading the blog, but of course all window
decoration was missing and I had no way to launch other applications
through the gui. After doing ctrl-alt-backspace to restore my desktop,
  Apport reported an update-notifier crash.

Since this problem happens at times I'm not doing anything but reading
what's already in the browser and trying to scroll down to read more,
I think the problem is caused by something done on a schedule. Since
update-notifier always seems to come up eventually on reboot or ctrl-
alt-backspace, it would seem like update-notifier is somehow causing
compiz to use 100% cpu at times.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1446185] Re: Share folder not accessible in Windows 8.1

2015-05-15 Thread Marko Hrastovec
A workaround is to use xfreerdp from command line and specify local
drive to share with /drive option.

An example:
xfreerdp /v:servername /u:username /drive:data,/home/user/data /bpp:24
/monitors:1 /clipboard /sound:sys:alsa +fonts +aero /size:1600x1200

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1447265] [NEW] xfreerdp fullscreen windows behind get mouse clicks

2015-04-22 Thread Marko Hrastovec
Public bug reported:

After remmina doesn't map drives in vivid I am using xfreerdp directly.
However, when I start xfreerdp in fullscreen mode it acts strangely.
Windows which are open behind the fullscreen rdp session get mouse
clicks instead of xfreerdp. So it happens that I click in rdp session
and window from behind appears over xfreerdp fullscreen window. I am not
sure whether this is a bug of Gnome 3 or xfreerdp.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1446072] [NEW] No menu in fullscreen on Gnome 3

2015-04-20 Thread Marko Hrastovec
Public bug reported:

When I connect to a remote computer in fullscreen the menu on the top of
the screen does not open any more since I upgraded to Ubuntu 15.04.
There is a grey line at the top of the screen indicating the menu when I
connect to Windows 2008 R2. When I connect to Windows 8.1 the grey line
for the menu disappears completely after a few seconds. It is very
annoying not being able to use the menu.

The other change is that the fullscreen windows opens on the screen
where the remmina is started. In 14.04 I had RDP windows always appear
on one screen. Now I have to move remmina window there and then start
RDP. Otherwise it starts on a screen I don't want RDP to start.

When connecting to Windows 8.1, the cursor is now working great and it
changes shapes. Unfortunately I cannot say this for connecting to
Windows 2008 R2. The cursor there is surrounded with a black square
(64x64 maybe) where previous cursors are drawn. This may have something
to do with my graphics drivers because I use two graphics adapters and
two drivers for three screens (nouveau and intel) both provided by
Ubuntu. I have no proprietary graphics drivers.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1173597] Re: online accounts - add online account fails

2013-05-19 Thread Marko Hrastovec
HI,

what else can I provide to prove that adding Google account to online
accounts doesn't work. I can not believe noone else is affected with
this bug. I have three computers with 13.04 (two fresh installs and one
upgraded from 12.10). All of them go thorugh the whole process of adding
account. At the end when account should appear in online accounts list
nothing happens and the list stays empty.

I am also attaching a picture showing that some images are missing at
selecting account type.
