[infra] site deploying

2010-09-25 Thread Simone Tripodi
Hi again guys,
sorry the Digester 2.1 release is taking too much time but I'm still
assembling all the puzzle's pieces :P
What I miss now is how the site on

http://people.apache.org/builds/commons/digester/2.1/RC2/site/

has to be moved/copied/referenced on

http://commons.apache.org/digester/commons-digester-2.1/

In the wiki page[1] in the section E.3 Deploy the Site we just wrote
about deploying the next development snapshot site.

Can anyone help me please? Many thanks in advance and take in
consideration one paid beer :P
Have a nice weekend,
Simo

No. In Commons, the deployed site should be versioned 2.2-SNAPSHOT.

It is confusing and IMO unnecessary for us to include the site in
the RC, since it is not actually part of the release, but we have
traditionally done that.

See the post-release steps (5 - 7) here:
http://commons.apache.org/releases/release.html

First, update the POM to 2.2-SNAPSHOT. Do the other stuff.
Generate the site locally using mvn site and then deploy it using
mvn site:deploy

The latter can be used at any time to deploy the updated web site.

See relevant GUMP output below. I do not see these test failures
from either the Ant or Maven builds running

java version 1.6.0_20
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_20-b02-279-10M3065)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 16.3-b01-279, mixed mode)

Looks like GUMP is running open JDK 6 (can't find any version info)

No error here either.
It seems like a .class file was not cleaned up: the line numbers do not
correspond and the code should not raise InvalidMatrixException anymore
but MatrixDimensionMismatchException instead.

Thanks both Antonio and Phil :)

@Phil: absolutely right, but that concerns the main site, what I was
worried about is the 2.1 specific release site. I already deployed the
2.2 site, you can see them on http://commons.apache.org/digester/
It seems everything looks good, btw if you couls send some feedback
after a quick review it would be much more than appreciated, thanks in
advance!!!

No.  In Commons, the deployed site should be versioned 2.2-SNAPSHOT.

It is confusing and IMO unnecessary for us to include the site in the RC,
since it is not actually part of the release, but we have traditionally done
 that.

 See the post-release steps (5 - 7) here:
 http://commons.apache.org/releases/release.html

First, update the POM to 2.2-SNAPSHOT.  Do the other stuff. Generate the
site locally using mvn site and then deploy it using mvn site:deploy

The latter can be used at any time to deploy the updated web site.

[ANNOUNCEMENT] Apache Commons Digester 2.1 Released

2010-09-25 Thread Simone Tripodi
The Apache Commons team is pleased to announce the release of version
2.1 of Commons Digester. The Digester package lets you configure an
XML to Java object mapping module which triggers certain actions
called rules whenever a particular pattern of nested XML elements is
recognized.

Version 2.1 is a minor release with new features, Digester rules can
be now defined also through Java5 Annotations meta-data. Source and
binary distributions are available for download from the Apache
Commons Digester download site:
http://commons.apache.org/digester/download_digester.cgi

Please verify signatures using the KEYS file available at the above
location when downloading the release.

For more information on Apache Commons Digester, visit the Digester home page:
http://commons.apache.org/digester/

Feedback, suggestions for improvement or bug reports are welcome via
the Mailing Lists and Issue Tracking links here:

Fwd: svn commit: r1000560 - in /commons/proper/proxy/branches/version-2.0-work/stub/src/main/java/org/apache/commons/proxy2/stub: AnnotationConfigurer.java AnnotationFactory.java

2010-09-25 Thread Jörg Schaible
Hi Matt,

are you sure that this is a good idea? In an AppServer environment the
threads are pooled and therefore the ThreadLocal will keep the reference to
the class loader. This will effectively prevent the classes from unloading
when an application is redeployed.

See relevant GUMP output below. I do not see these test failures from
either the Ant or Maven builds running

java version 1.6.0_20
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_20-b02-279-10M3065)

Looks like GUMP is running open JDK 6 (can't find any version info)

No.  In Commons, the deployed site should be versioned 2.2-SNAPSHOT.

Right, cp -r of the staged site won't work very well here.

Given the way the site menu works, there are now a number of broken links.

The 2.1 guide should actually be part of the deployed site so the
menus continue to work. Now that we have a more elaborate guide (in
terms of number of site pages), perhaps we should just pull specific
release guides in via svn externals.
