Time to look into this, this is a very consistent fail, which rules
out timeout issues or incidental mishaps.

Anyone know what's going on?

Text Input focus/softkeyboard appearance is now on mouse click
I removed the "SimulateMouseGesture" statements which are not needed anymore.

Test pass for me.

All is OK in the build path. Do you think this is a Flex SDK or Flash Builder
issue?

Do you have other flex projects open, maybe using different versions of the
SDK? I noticed that, sometimes, Flash Builder open the source file from the
wrong SDK. If this is the case, you should also note that the path of the
source file opened is not from the correct SDK folder for the project.

The correct file is always opened, just at the wrong line / column number.
Yes, I have more projects open but they all work with the 4.11.0 SDK and
their source attachment path is correct.

Does anyone know how Flash Builder determines the symbol position inside the
framework source file? Is that some kind of information packaged somewhere
inside the SWC? BTW one strange thing I noticed is that when I take for
example /frameworks/libs/spark.swc and look at its catalog.xml, it says

Not sure if this is important for anything or not but the version string is
wrong (this file is from the 4.11.0 SDK).

If you create a 4.6 project, where does it put the cursor? I think FB may
have a database based on 4.6 and is using the same line numbers for 4.11.

I’d also give it a try using a clean workspace, FB may be caching SWC

SDK bug fixing in IntelliJ

2013-11-27 Thread Lee Burrows

Hi All,

I am trying to setup IntelliJ 12.1 so that i can edit the SDK and submit
patches.

I currently have the SDK within a Java module (as all tutorials seem to
suggest) but is it possible to enable code-hinting/jump to definition
etc. when editing AS/MXML files?

Re: SDK bug fixing in IntelliJ

2013-11-27 Thread Lee Burrows
Thanks Om. I used that video to setup my system - i can build the sdk
successfully. But the video (nor the wiki or read me) mentions what i need.

I have managed to get jump-to-definition working - by setting
[sdk]/frameworks/projects as a 'source folder' in the Java module.

Basically, i want the same coding features i get when i am working in a
Flash project; code hinting, syntax checking etc.

[FlexJS] Reaching out to IDE developers to support FlexJS

2013-11-27 Thread OmPrakash Muppirala
I have created a JIRA ticket here [1] to track our outreach efforts with
IDE developers to start supporting Apache Flex - FlexJS.

Here are the open tickets that have been created with the three IDE
developers:

IntelliJ IDEA : http://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/IDEA-116986
Flash Develop:
http://www.flashdevelop.org/community/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=11385
FDT: http://bugs.powerflasher.com/jira/browse/FDT-3281

Of the three, I know that IntelliJ dev (Alexander) is monitoring this
mailing list.
FDT devs have responded with a clear answer as to what they expect from the
FlexJSSDK and what it would take for them to start supporting it. I think
our nightly builds of FlexJS should help them.
No response yet from Flash Develop folks. If someone from this list knows
how to get their attention, please do so.

Unfortunately, Adobe Flash Builder does not seem to have a bug tracker or a
feature request form that I could find. I am assuming that whatever
(Adobe) Alex is doing is what we are going to get as far as Flash Builder
support is going to be.

It would be great if Alex/Peter/Erik can also monitor those threads and
jump in with appropriate responses. Please add yourselves as 'Watchers' so
that you get notifications when there is some movement there.
I am trying to bring them over to start a dialog here at dev@flex.apache.org,
but until that happens, we need to be proactive and go visit them often ;-)

Thanks,
Om

RE: SDK bug fixing in IntelliJ

2013-11-27 Thread Maurice Amsellem
Hi Lee,

I didn't go through the video, but this is how I do it:

- declare the flex-sdk as a Flash module, not a java module (use an existing
SDK at the SDK, it does not matter)
- add to the module src all the framework/projects/*/src
- CHECK SKIP COMPILATION option.

If you need more information, don't hesitate

(Resending from my correct email address)

Thanks,
Om

I didn't go through the video, but this is how I do it:

- declare the flex-sdk as a Flash module, not a java module (use an existing
SDK at the SDK, it does not matter)
- add to the module src all the framework/projects/*/src
- CHECK SKIP COMPILATION option.

If you need more information, don't hesitate

Re: Open declaration (F3, ctrl+click) jumps to wrong location in Flash Builder

2013-11-27 Thread BorekB
Did a test now. I was navigating to the LayoutBase class. In SDK 4.6, Flash
Builder correctly navigated to file LayoutBase.as with the text "LayoutBase"
selected and cursor blinking on line 78, col 24. When I did the same for SDK
4.11.0, the selection was somewhere inside the class ASDoc comments, so a
few lines above the correct position, specifically the cursor was blinking
at 82:28. So the location is different from 4.6 but still wrong.

I confirmed this misbehavior even in the clean workspace as suggested by
Cosma.

Are the symbol positions somehow baked into the SDK or is it up to the Flash
Builder to scan all sources and build the index itself?

[DISCUSS] Apache Flex chair

2013-11-27 Thread Justin Mclean
Hi,

It's coming up on a year of Alex being the Flex PMC chair, as per our recently
voted in guidelines [1] it's time to review that.

I think Alex done an excellent job and I know he'd happy to continue in the
role, but I'd like to see it change so other people get the chance to
experience that role. I'd like to put my name up for the role.

What do people think? Are there any other PMC members who also want to take on
the responsibility of being the chair? See [2] for duties/responsibilities of
the chair.

Thanks,
Justin

Donation News

2013-11-27 Thread Alex Harui
I finally got a clean-looking scan on a bunch of Adobe stuff. I will be
submitting it to Legal for review next week (reminder that the US is on
holiday Thursday and Friday). Then, unless Legal sees something it
doesn't like, I have to get some business folks and a VP to sign off and
then I replace any remaining Adobe headers with Apache headers and start
checking it in. Still hoping to get it done in December.

Contents of this donation will hopefully be:

1. Several popular ADC web articles, tutorials, etc.
2. A newer version of FDB that supports workers
3. FlexPMD
4. The Mobile Trader demo app
5. A spec for MXML
6. Some files that are needed to complete the BlazeDS donation
7. As much of Squiggly as I could find
8. TourDeFlex

The BlazeDS donation is otherwise ready except for the files I mentioned
in #6. With those files, the BlazeDS build scripts seems to run
successfully. Testing is still needed of course, but will happen
post-donation if we can find a volunteer.

Some things to think about:
A) The ADC content is full of references to stylesheets that give it its
look and feel. I haven't put the stylesheets in the donation because I'm
pretty sure the Adobe business folks will want us to come up with a
different look.
B) For various copyright reasons, many of the images in the ADC examples
could not be donated and have been replaced by copies of other ADC images.
At some point, we may need to spend time on fixing this up
C) Where do we check in the ADC content? Does it just go in SVN for the
web-site?
D) A few files in the FlexPMD trunk belong to third-parties and therefore
not in the donation. It looks like it was just a few tests and bug test
cases. However, I'm not planning to fix up the build script.
E) Where do we check in FlexPMD? I think flex-utilities
F) TourDeFlex and the FlexStore example on the ADC use images of Nokia
phones. These images will not be donated. Anybody in the mood to
generate 22 different phone images? It is probably better if they are
hand-drawn and not photos of a real phone.

Some thoughts:

A) can you at least include the original stylesheets with the

I don't think I can do that, but you can always see the originals by
visiting the Adobe site (at least for now).

In general, Apache does not "take" stuff regardless of license. It has to
be donated. I guess we could link to and/or load those images from a
foreign domain, but it would be great if someone who is fluent in a
drawing tool could bang out some artwork and donate it. Probably just one
phone outline in 22 different colors.
