OK, for this spec, let's leave it as is. I'll update the remaining
bundles before releasing them.

Re: [VOTE] release YOKO 1.2 - 1st attempt.

2011-07-12 Thread Kevan Miller
Same about the year in the NOTICE file. So, would like to see that updated.

The source, signatures/checksums, LICENSE/NOTICE file looks good. I'm running a
build, now. Will let you know if I see any problems. I keep building while a
Geronimo server is running. IIRC, the server interferes with the junit tests.

Once the NOTICE file is updated, I should be +1

Just updated latter date to 2011 for all notice files in geronimo bundles.

Do you mean we need to rename LICENSE/NOTICE to LICENSE.txt/NOTICE.txt ?

2011-07-12 Thread Kevan Miller
Looks good with one exception.

geronimo-stax-api_1.2_spec-1.1/NOTICE.txt contains:

Copyright 2003-2006 The Apache Software Foundation

Not a hard requirement, but by our convention the latter date should be 2011.
Also, most of our LICENSE/NOTICE files no longer have the .txt suffix. Neither
of these are a hard requirement. But given the number of releases that we'll
have coming up, may as well cleanup now...

Beyond the above, source, signatures/checksums, and build -- all look good to
me. With the above minor concerns, I'm +0.

If possible, please help to review it first, as I am not quite confident for
the changes for this jira, although it seems to work now.

[jira] [Created] (GERONIMO-6073) Rotation and appending of console output when Geronimo is run a windows service

2011-07-12 Thread Vamsavardhana Reddy (JIRA)
Rotation and appending of console output when Geronimo is run a windows service
---

 Key: GERONIMO-6073
 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/GERONIMO-6073
 Project: Geronimo
  Issue Type: Improvement
  Security Level: public (Regular issues)
  Components: commands
Affects Versions: 2.2.1, 2.1.7
 Environment: Windows
Reporter: Vamsavardhana Reddy

GERONIMO-4394 provided for running Geronimo as windows service. The console
output STDOUT is directed to geronimosrv.out and STDERR is directed to
geronimosrv.err. If the server is running for long, these files can grow big
requiring the server to be stopped. Also, each time the server is started as
service, the files from the previous run are overwritten since the output does
not get appended to existing file. So, if a user is interested in the console
output from the previous runs, it is lost. So, console output rotation and
appending to already existing files should be a good improvement for the "Run
Geronimo as a Windows service" feature.

Hmm, I double checked the spec, so which rule should cover this request ?

• The Java EE API classes specified in Table EE.6-1 for the containers other
than
the application client container.
• Any installed libraries available in the application server.
• Other classes or resources contained in the application package, and
specified

• Other classes and resources that are part of the implementation of the

Ivan commented on GERONIMO-5904:

Hi, David, here is some background info for this issue. Geronimo maintains a
jndi tree of namepsace ger, and a listener for gbeans implement ResourceSource
is added. So, once a gbean of this type is started, its value from invoking
$getResource() is bind on the tree. With this tree, users could bind some other
instances on the jndi tree, and use the jndi lookup to get value from their
applications. I know that we have a URLResourceSource sample, which could be
used to bind a URL on the tree.
Move to this jira, once a data source is created, a
GenericConnectionManagerGBean is created, and the return value of
$getResource() will be bind on the jndi tree. The problems is that the return
value is a tranql datasource instance, it implements the Referenceable
interface, so while binding it on our jndi tree, its reference value will be
used as the real value on the tree. The question is, while looking up this
value from the tree, no ObjectFactory could be found by aries jndi
implementation, then bang !
The workaround solution for this is that, a ResourceReference instance is used
to bind on the jndi tree, not the actual instance. With this, the lookup
function could work as usual.
Is it clear for you ? I would go ahead to commit this patch, as some other
JIRAs are depending on this. we could turn to other better solutions if
possible.

Re: [jira] [Commented] (GERONIMODEVTOOLS-759) Using the new APIs to manage the bundles status both in GEP and Server side

2011-07-12 Thread Yi Xiao
I've reviewed the code, it's better and more concise than I did[?], thank you
very much, Jarek.

When I test the new feature, I find a problem that when restart the eclipse
and modify the bundle's symbolic name or version, then publish the bundle to
the server, the server would not remove the previous one!

The root cause is when the eclipse restarts, the bundle Map's info is empty,
so it could not get the cached bundle id and also the bundle's symbolic name
or version has been changed, so it could not find the bundle id from server
side by them, the bundle will be an isolated and never used one in server
side.

Maybe we still need persist the bundle map in GEP side, but just persist the
bundle module id, symbolic name, version and the module's state(is removed or
something else), the module state can be obtained by a resource changed
listener as I patched before.
What's your option?
