Re: Geronimo releases for 3Q/4Q-2008

2008-09-11 Thread Donald Woods

The 2.1.3 Server is out for a vote.
Joe is wrapping up Samples.
Tim will be working on a GEP 2.1.3 release soon after the server release.

Moving the 2.2 discussions to a new thread.

I suspect the Geronimo 2.2 release will be late 4Q ... therefore it
might be unlikely to release these "dependent" projects within the same
quarter. However, the relative target from whatever the 2.2 server date
ends up being is plausible depending on where the holidays fall in the
middle of all that.

I'd be glad to help you with RM stuff for 2.1.3 I still have to
update the Geronimo Release process page with a whole lot more details
on doing things the "old" way as well as some special details for server
releases versus smaller projects. There have also been some peculiar
problems that seem to be related to various maven versions.

I agree with David. Daytrader is a much more complex sample with a
special focus on performance benchmarking. It doesn't have an affinity
to the other samples and may make it more difficult to release the more
simple samples.

Do we need a GEP 2.1.3 to support it?

We want to cut this time lag dramatically, say to 7 days. We'd have
been quicker with GEP 2.1.2, but Ganymede, repackaging and Java SE 6
have (properly) slowed us this time.
