I find the standard terminology file very useful on Pootle. Does
OpenOffice.org have a separate glossary, and if so, where is it so I
can update it for our language?

This would increase the glossary consistency among translations,
improving the overall quality and easing the localization process.

Yes, the terminology feature keeps the current vocab in front of
translators: it even improves spelling. ;)

Also, may I ask how the NL l10n teams using the test Pootle server
report issues? Do they use official OOo issue tracker?

I'm still using the main Pootle to test issues specific to
OpenOffice.org. But I use the OpenOffice.org tracker for
OpenOffice.org issues, and the Pootle tracker for Pootle issues. The
contents of the OpenOffice.org glossary, when running on Pootle,
would be an OpenOffice.org issue, while the performance of the
terminology feature using that glossary would be a Pootle issue.

[l10n-dev] Terminology on Pootle / SunVirtualLab

2007-07-27 Thread Aiet Kolkhi
Hello,

I think it would be nice if we installed OOo terminology to test this
feature of Pootle, so that the NL l10n teams are automatically
suggested the correct terms from OOo glossary (which, by the way,
needs updating).

This would increase the glossary consistency among translations,
improving the overall quality and easing the localization process.

Also, may I ask how the NL l10n teams using the test Pootle server
report issues? Do they use official OOo issue tracker?

Aiet Kolkhi

Hi Damien

Have a look at the options for oo2po
http://translate.sourceforge.net/wiki/toolkit/oo2po
and specifically the option --duplicatestyle
http://translate.sourceforge.net/wiki/toolkit/duplicates_duplicatestyle

These comments are used to disambiguate messages, and there are a few
different choices available. I think the second link I gave explains the
different choices quite well, but shout if there is anything unclear.

[l10n-dev] Question about POT files & oo2po

2007-07-27 Thread Damien Donlon

Hi,
I have a question about how oo2po extracts PO and POT files.

Pavel's POT files contain messages of the format :

msgid ""
"_: wizard.src#TP_MIGRATION.CB_MIGRATION.checkbox.text\n"
"Transfer personal data"
msgstr ""

#:abspilot.src#RID_PAGE_FIELDMAPPING.PB_INVOKE_FIELDS_DIALOG.pushbutton.text
msgid ""
"_:
abspilot.src#RID_PAGE_FIELDMAPPING.PB_INVOKE_FIELDS_DIALOG.pushbutton."
"text\n"
"Field Assignment"
msgstr ""

Where the comment becomes part of the msgid string. Presumably this is
required for some reason to do with backconverting to SDF and putting
the translation back to the appropriate place in the SDF. Can anyone
confirm this?

My problem is :
If I do an export of an SDF from our database and do oo2po on it using
the command :

oo2po -i something.sdf -o ./po-files -l

I get :

#:
abspilot.src#RID_PAGE_FIELDMAPPING.PB_INVOKE_FIELDS_DIALOG.pushbutton.text
#: abspilot.src#RID_PAGE_FIELDMAPPING.tabpage.text
#:
abspilot.src#RID_DLG_ADDRESSBOOKSOURCEPILOT.STR_MANUAL_FIELD_MAPPING.string.text
msgid "Field Assignment"
msgstr "Assegnazione campo"

The comment is NOT part of the msgid. This means that when I do a
pomigrate2 to merge the database generated PO files to the PO files
which use the POTs as a template, the msgid's are not matched and the
database contents are not leveraged.

So I guess my question is : How do I adjust the SDF files that I have
taken from the database so that they generate PO files which include the
comment in the msgid? If I can do this then I can get leverage.

Thanks in advance!

Regards,
Damien
