Buongiorno Rafaella,

From what I can see there seems to be many label strings that are

these labels will remain in German in the source because these are
proper names. It seems that most teams would like to move the Labels.xcu
into an extension which I think is a very good idea because it gives the
flexibility to localize the labels or not -

Which milestone will be ready for translation ?
Well, you can start updating your translation using m37 especially if
you wan to translate the Help because all changes for 3.1 have already
been integrated. If you don't want to localize the labels (in the UI),
just ignore the Labels.xcu. Since feature freeze is scheduled for
December 18th, it's only between January 5th and 8th that we will have a
better idea on which will be the milestone to use to complete
translation for 3.1.
Our team still uses the en-US.sdf file as a translation base and we
don't plan to switch to pootle in the near term,
That's fine. Whatever for you and your team works best. And if you want
to test the tool just let us know.

Thanks,
Rafaella

Philippe

Dear Translators/Localizers,

we are approaching the 3.1 release and we start having enough changes
and untranslated content to work on :-) .

As usual, I have prepared a translation schedule with deadlines and
estimated wordcounts at:

http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Translation_for_3.1

Here some highlights:

Schedule:
===
* February 2nd - last translation delivery date to release engineering

Total Estimated Translation Volume:
==
GUI approx. 80,000 words
Help approx. 425,000 words

New/Changed Estimated Translation Volume since 3.0:
===
GUI approx. 9,000 words
Help approx. 18,000 words

If any question, just let me know

Kind Regards,
Rafaella

2008-12-15 Thread Rafaella Braconi

Buona sera, Philippe, all,

Which milestone will be ready for translation ?
a short update on the translation milestone question. We are targetting
the m39 as the milestone to use for the 3.1 release.

Hope this helps organizing the translation work.

 I'm in the dark about the visible use of these keys and, if done wrong,
 would it break functionality ?

 If the source is to be used as the visible use of the key I would translate
 this example as:  Alles selecteren.
 Since I'm not sure if that breaks functionality since it is a Command.value
 I would like someone to shine some light on this.

 So, please enlighten me

[l10n-dev] work-in-progress?

2008-12-15 Thread Olivier Hallot

Hi,
I found some strings in HC which looks like work-in-progress for m37:

 [ OO.o PO Help ] swriter / 00.po

image id=img_id3152980 src=res/commandimagelist/sc_framedialog.png
width=0.566cm height=0.566cmalt id=alt_id3152980{ENTER
ALTERNATE DESCRIPTION HERE}/alt/image

For the time being, I left this as fuzzy.

Generally, if the string you are translating is not a menu entry or a
button, you can leave it out since a script will automatically assign
the accelerator to the letters available in the dialogs avoiding double
mnemonics as much as possible.

You can find more detailed information on this topic at:
http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Mnemonics_Localisation

I was just about to write the same question. The string was Icon
before and I used Emacs amcro to translate all of them by one
keyboard shortcut. The question is what to do with them now.
