Thank you Neil.

It installed and ran nicely on a MacBook Pro M2 running Sonoma 14.3 Zulu
JDK 21.

Created, built, and ran a demo app. No issues.

Thank you for all your efforts.

Carl

Re: [HELP WANTED] Testing new macOS installer

2023-08-10 Thread Carl Mosca
For me it created "Apache NetBeans" in the Applications folder (as opposed
to /Applications/NetBeans). Previously, the NetBeans version was part of
the name.

I created a project in Desktop to see if it would ask for permission which
it did nicely.

I am curious about the lack of folks and/or resources to produce this
(guessing I missed a discussion).

Carl

Re: Postmortem 13

2022-03-04 Thread Carl Mosca
Great job all!!

Hard to believe we threw this together four years ago...several have
reminded me to keep it updated...if you want a convenient (albeit
temporary) way to install on macOS and check the integrity from the command
line:

https://github.com/carljmosca/netbeans-macos-bundle

Guessing the installer will be available shortly and this will gather some
dust...not trying to start (another) debate on why such an effort is really
not needed...just trying to help if anyone happens to want it.

Happy Friday

Regards,
Carl

Re: log4j and NetBeans

2021-12-15 Thread Carl Mosca
Is this inaccurate:

Note that only the log4j-core JAR file is impacted by this vulnerability.
Applications using only the log4j-api JAR file without the log4j-core JAR
file are not impacted by this vulnerability.

Re: How to debug netbeans

2020-08-25 Thread Carl Mosca
In general, I find that NetBeans alone works nicely for my debugging
sessions. There are certainly some nice features which I believe makes it
a very practical tool.

I have used JRebel in the past but I must say the company (sold twice I
think) has made things a bit less friendly with respect to licensing. (We
have cases for which a license file is needed but we have only been
provided ones that expire in about 30 days despite the fact that our
licenses are for one year)

I have been working with the dcevm
 and NetBeans a bit
lately and hotswapping classes works nicely in some current use cases
(remote web applications for example).

The one issue I am seeing is that resources, such as JSF files, are not
automatically reloaded (remotely).

I don't know that it's confusing (it never was to me) just not
convenient...perhaps due to my own ignorance.

I think of any given license as project, not IDE specific.

Perhaps I should dig a bit further before commenting.

Scott,

I understood that the option was no longer available but I just tried it
using the procedure you outlined and it was successful.

Yes, I would think that *most* MacOS users are not aware that this option
is currently available as I have read conflicting reports.

Re: adding classpath

2019-09-11 Thread Carl Mosca
It should not be complicated. If you're moving to maven, it will be less
effort in the long run if follow conventions.

If you already are following conventions, (e.g. sources are in the expected
directory, etc.) I am wondering what the issue might be.

Perhaps you have other projects on which you're relying that are not maven.

Thanks Tim for the reminders on some of that stuff and the updates. A good
bit of it brings back some memories.

On the community-visualweb, I keep thinking we can somehow get such an
effort current/right.
