RE: Bugzilla down? (was: Future of old NetBeans bug tracker)

2020-01-15 Thread Eirik Bakke
Oh, it's already been done--brilliant! Thank you!

(Somehow the links from Google did not work last night nor an hour ago, but now
they do. Maybe I had a DNS cache issue. Sorry for the trouble!)

There was an issue for this at
https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/NETBEANS-2546 , which I marked as
resolved now.

Bugzilla down? (was: Future of old NetBeans bug tracker)

2020-01-15 Thread Eirik Bakke

AW: RE: Future of old NetBeans bug tracker

2019-10-19 Thread Christian Lenz
Atm we have round About over 3000 bugs in JIRA for NetBeans. In bugzilla, over
all the years we have over 200.000 bugs. Not all are valid anymore, a lot of
where closed etc. etc. But no, not every ticket has a equivalent yet. I can say
that for my open Bugs too (round about 100-200. I did some but not all. And not
all of my votes have equivalents so all in all, no. I guess there are a lot of
valid Bugs/feature requests open in bugzilla and don’t have an equivalent.

Understand the scale of all this so I ask this cautiously...

Is it safe to say all the items from the old Bugzilla now have an equivalent in
JIRA (open or closed ones)? Or are there items left in Bugzilla without
equivalent?

Could the historical ones have a JIRA equivalent with the history attached in
some way (i.e. added one mega comment, attach a bug dump with historical
details, etc.)?

Assume the Jira equivalent still have some link back to the old in some way
(i.e. legacy Bugzilla id, Bugzilla title/description, etc.) right?

The readonly instance, if we will have one later, will be only for some people

+1 (non-binding).

At Apache OpenOffice, we also imported Oracle's old bugs into a Bugzilla
instance at Apache.

+1 me, too.

The history is important. I search and look at old issues sometimes.

There are reference everywhere in the code like that : #21331 that are Bugzilla
id.

On Apache infrastructure! ;-) As I said, that was discussed in a chat with
infra a while ago. If that's still an option, I think we should do it. I know
the old instance is being shut down. The point was to do link mapping or
forwarding here to ensure the links don't break.

Re: Future of old NetBeans bug tracker

Unfortunately forwarding of old bug URLs is not an option as the
Bugzilla instance will be shut down sooner or later. So, if NetBeans
community feels the old database with hundreds thousands bugs is needed,
we must find a place where we want to host the BugZilla snapshot.

In the web infra chats we had a while ago I'm pretty sure we discussed
importing and hosting within an Apache Bugzilla instance. That would
be my preference, ideally keeping, or if not, forwarding, the existing
links. There's still useful info in there, and various references in
the source code.

Best wishes,

Future of old NetBeans bug tracker

2019-10-18 Thread Geertjan Wielenga
Hi all,

As we know, we're on JIRA now, i.e., all issues are reported here:

https://issues.apache.org/jira/projects/NETBEANS

The old location from the pre-Apache days are here:

https://netbeans.org/bugzilla

The question is what to do with the above, sure it is read-only, no one
should be able to create new issues there and at the top of the page
there's messaging about using the new Apache NetBeans JIRA.

However, since we want to move away from Oracle infrastructure, what do we
want to do with the NetBeans Bugzilla, ultimately? Simply take it out of
the air, get and backup the database dump files, or host them somehow?

We have the NetBeans Bugzilla database dump files available at this stage,
i.e., they're available to use inside Oracle, but the question is what to
do with them next, where to put them, if anywhere, whether they should be
hosted, and where.

Any ideas are welcome.

Gj
