It's effectively the best choice.

Both the generic OpenOffice guide (I filed it under Writer, since we
have no "generic" category) and the update Impress guide are now
published under

I would suggest this comment, for the place, you can choose :

Découvrir OpenOffice – L'environnement et les commandes de base.
"Ce tutoriel vous fait découvrir l'interface d'OpenOffice, ses commandes de
base et les fonctionnalités communes à ses principaux modules : Writer,
Calc, Impress et Draw. Il vous aidera à démarrer rapidement avec Apache
OpenOfficeTM et ses dérivés (OOo4Kids, et OOoLight), particulièrement si
vous disposez déjà de connaissances en bureautique acquises avec un autre
produit".

For Impress, no changes, only the file has been actualized.

"derivative products" is effectively better, as we, by educoo,
traditionally return our productions to the parent project AOO.

I'm doing this work because I have a demand for documentation. I would
build a sort of "documentation kit" freely available and easy to
personalize to serve as teaching material or marketing support. For
example, I've actually contacts with an hotel which would make some
documentation available in printed form for its business customers. They
have began to distribute the AOO and OOo4Kids flyers and plan to organize
formations in a near future. I have suggested to make a derivative version
of the existing docs , with an image of the hotel on the cover page and a
description of their offer in the first pages with a modification of the
advertisement message in the footers.

The same could be made with schools or freelance teachers. It could be also
a solution for people with office experience with other products :
students, retired teachers, women at home, etc who could be interested to
coach new users, without having all the charge of developpement of their
teaching material. They have only to delete/modifiy parts or add
supplements.
Only actually an idea, but I will try to see if it could be a solution to
push the product forward with classical means.

Hi Guy, this is very good stuff as usual. If you can suggest the precise
place and wording (in French) to insert them somewhere under
http://www.openoffice.org/fr/Documentation/ we can upload them there (or
do you prefer to wait for the final version? They already look quite nice).

General introduction to Apache OpenOfficeTM and the forks OOo4Kids and
OOoLight produced by educoo.org.

Are those "forks" or "derivative products"? I'd prefer to use the
latter, which is probably more accurate (documentation, at least, is
flowing back to OpenOffice, and http://wiki.ooo4kids.org says that
"Everything is made with the idea to contribute back to Apache
OpenOffice Project"); this is a detail that matters, so I'd rather use
"derivative products" in this case.

  Andrea.
