Hi, Thanks for paying close attention to IA2 work! I will resume the IA2 development at the beginning of September. Yes I get exactly the same result with this r1484083 based ia2 branch build. Except for the swriter.exe launcher, all the other components launch without issue as does the Start Center. And like you, when Writer is launched from the start center, it comes up cleanly. On an initial launch from the Writer shortcut, or if running the writer.exe directly--the swriter.exe, soffice.exe, and soffice.bin will all run--but the writer session hangs. Have to manually end the writer process from task manager. A relaunch of any OpenOffice launcher or the start center panel results in a recovery panel that will not complete. A reset of user profile (i.e. delete %AppData%\Openffice ) is the clean way to return function, as edit of the XML recovery stanzas in the OpenOffice registrymodifications.xcu configuration file is not worth the hassle. The user profile will rebuild to default, and just reactivate the Tools --> Options --> Accessibility --> Support assistive technology tools. This issue with the writer.exe launcher is not a problem on the AOO 4.0.0 release, so should resolve when Steve Y. rebases the ia2 branch. Meanwhile, best to simply not use the writer.exe launcher in working with the ia2 branch. Re: IA2 branch testing of r1484083 merege with trunk
Jamie, So a reboot did fix the IAccessible2 behavior of AOO ia2 branch, following reboot I did not have to run AOO as Administrator to get IAccessible2 rendering. I then upgraded back to NVDA 2013.1.1 and now was getting good IAccessible2 rendering with that as well. Also, no problems before or after the reboot with navigating onto the AOO ia2 Writer session with movments so not sure what was happening there for you. But I have to say that getting this build consistently configured is a bit of a challenge. But once it is configured, it seems pretty functional. Re: IA2 branch testing of r1484083 merege with trunk
Jamie, Cleared off all LibreOffice and OpenOffice and then installed the revision 1484083 ia2 branch build. Two things jumped out: 1) I had to back out NVDA from 2013.1, and install a copy of NVDA 2012.3.1 to get useable IAccessible2 rendering 2) also, I had to run the OpenOffice ia2 branch as Administrator. If I ran as normal user, AOO would not render with IAccessible2 and NVDA would not parse the IAccessible2 events--everything was unknown. Seems like before we only had to run once as Administrator to register the .dll But, as I had Accprobe open while running, I could follow that when I launched AOO ia2 as an Administrator, IAccessible2 events would generate and NVDA 2012.3.1 would sound. If not run as Administrator I would only see MSAA renderings. And, I could not reliably get 2013.1 to sound even when IAccessible2 was showing while run as administrator. I'm writing this before I've rebooted, so may see some improvement in having to run the ia2 AOO as Administrator after that. Also, Steve had posted up some hints on handling un regsitering the UAccCom.dll, that could be some of the issue. https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/OOOUSERS/Tips+for+branch+ia2 Stuart -- View this message in context: http://openoffice.2283327.n4.nabble.com/IA2-branch-testing-of-r1484083-merege-with-trunk-tp4644296p4649191.html Sent from the Development mailing list archive at Nabble.com. - To unsubscribe, e-mail: dev-unsubscr...@openoffice.apache.org For additional commands, e-mail: dev-h...@openoffice.apache.org

Unfortunately, I'm having some major problems with this one that I didn't have with a build from February. When Writer starts, the main window is invisible and isn't in the alt+tab task switcher or the running applications bar. Furthermore, I can't see any text in the document when I look at the object hierarchy. I can access the menus, though. Strangely, if the document recovery dialog comes up before the main Writer application, that works just fine; it isn't invisible, etc. I don't have this problem with Calc. I tried reinstalling, including removal of all relevant application data and registry keys, but to no avail. Has anyone else experienced this? Any ideas? Jamie, Steve Yin and folks do not push their ia2 branch dev work out very frequently. But I am sure they've been moving it along. Anyhow, the last build we had to work against was against r1484083 from May 18th--you have not missed anything. IA2 branch testing of r1484083 merege with trunk
So noticed that Steve Yin has done a merge of IA2 with trunk as rev 1484083, assuming it makes it out onto the Buildbot for tomorrow's nightly, this build will need some love from the QA side. Fortunately, it should have all of the work done on Sidebar through r1483767 so wasted effort there. Steve, so if the buildbot remains flaky, could you (or Oliver or Ariel) put up a working dev build? Its been quite a while since we've had a viable IA2 build to work against, and even the r1476794 currently posted is not coming up with IAccessible2 in ACCPROBE--not sure what is going on with that. But I think anyone testing the branch will need a bit of hand holding to get the test environment functional--can you please expand the tips: https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/OOOUSERS/Tips+for+branch+ia2 Stuart - To unsubscribe, e-mail: dev-unsubscr...@openoffice.apache.org For additional commands, e-mail: dev-h...@openoffice.apache.org
