science next year and also for my graduation. I know that you will say that
I am so small and I can't do this. But it will be a pleasure to work with
you and I promise that i would do my best for apache.

Thank You

Volunteering for Apache Open Source

2015-11-06 Thread Dominic Aldridge
Hello!

My name is Dominic Aldridge. I recently graduated with a Certificate in
Professional Technical Writing from the University of Washington, and I
also have a Bachelor's degree in Journalism.

I live near Seattle and I am currently undergoing a career change. I am
moving into the technical writing field and am looking for any sort of
opportunities- specifically looking to volunteer in order to gain
experience in the industry.

I would like to introduce myself to the members of this organization and
hope that I will be able to assist with providing procedural documentation.

Thanks,

Dominic Aldridge.

Welcome Jackey;

My first suggestion would be that you subscribe to this list as it is
the main communication vehicle for the project and for development. To
subscribe send a blank message to dev-subscr...@openoffice.apache.org
and follow the instructions in the reply that you will receive.

Than take a look at our Orientation pages at
http://openoffice.apache.org/orientation/index.html. The first levels
are general information about how projects work at Apache, and our
infrastructure. The next levels deal with more in-depth knowledge in
various areas.

Again welcome

Welcome Tyler,

IA2 also support AOO Sidebar, already integrated with trunk as rev 1542312

And you can refer Sidebar FVT scenario(refer FVT Sidebar test case in

Tools(JAWS/NVDA) to cover more scenario

In current ,We had already created and executed 30 ACC Sidebar test cases

If any test case fails , please mark it failed with bugs opening to

I create public query defect link for IA2

One of our volunteers started a strategic planning page for the website

issues arise. A whole scale evaluation of the css we currently use has not
been undertaken, though, and probably should.

I would suggest you take a look at:

and apply for a cwiki account if you'd like to participate in planning
discussions in that form rather than the mailing list.

Having a cwiki account will enable you to attach files to your suggestions

We are a community of volunteers. Please use the resources we have --
mailing list subscriptions, wiki accounts etc. -- to make your ideas known
to the community as a whole. You've completed Levels 1 and 2 of the

Hello and thank you for volunteering.

We have some orientation modules which should help you get started in
learning how the project works, as well as providing some information on
development:

We welcome your development efforts!

 Hello,

I am a Java/J2EE programmer interested in working on the OpenOffice

If not programming then I would like to help in localization, marketing or
 any other form .

I have been here for a while before, but could not contribute due to
 academic time constraint.
Since,I ve graduated I would be able to give dedicated time towards it.

Please anyone can help in guiding me for contributing on AOO.

 Thanks in Advance

Hello Guarav--

And thank you for your interest in development. Yes, it is true that AOO is
mostly written in C++ but there are hooks to java especially in the
database area. Of course, you can track down java code using your favorite
utility for this purpose. If you do that, you can mostly ignore items in
the qa directories since these are used for testing.

I don't know if you've been through the Orientation modules, but you might
want to start there to learn more about how the project and Apache
generally works.

http://openoffice.apache.org/orientation/index.html

especially the Developer area.

I don't know how many of our outstanding issues pertain directly to java,
but probably some of them do.

Thanks again for wanting to help, and welcome to the project.

Volunteering to create Pootle accounts

2013-07-18 Thread Andrea Pescetti
I expect an increased traffic of Pootle account requests (from
non-committers) next week, when we will release version 4.0 and new
volunteers will want to translate OpenOffice 4.0 into their mother tongue.

Unless we are already covered for a timely creation of accounts, I
volunteer to get administrator privileges in Pootle and to standardize
the procedure for non-committers to ask for a Pootle account.

If we are already covered, or we have someone else wishing to take care
of this, just say so, and I'll be happier! But we must avoid delays and
standardize procedures, at least for the languages that are already in
Pootle.

Regards,
  Andrea.

thanks for volunteering, please remember pootle is a infra service (as we
wanted) and not a specific AOO service.

I personnally welcome you as admin, and will ask in infra if anybody
objects.

I dont know what the state of the pootle files are, that is something jsc
have done. I would recommend not to just add new languages, pootle is the
least problem here.

You will get admin priviledges for the AOO projects, I just have to make a
profile in pootle, should be in place during the weekend.
