Try dev@xml.openoffice.org as it is more XML specific. Hopefully even some of
the Sun XML developers may help you.

Or at least as interesting from many peoples perspective is the SVG import

This is really not a question for development. But the short answer might be
that postscript is generally only the output for printing files, whereas XML

This works for me. When I click on the drop down menu, the first option is
"- all -" which shows all entries.

There are 2 lists that may be relevant to you dev@xml.openoffice.org for XML

I think that this is actually a reasonable way to approach your problem.
ODT files are reasonably easy to generate, and the simplest way to start is
obviously to start with no text formatting which is simply to make all of the
text a set of paragraphs. Then start on the formating.

You should have no index problems as all you need to do is to zip all of the
files together again after you complete the contents.xml file.

You are correct, you need to run OOo to use pyuno.

It should not be too difficult once you know some XML technologies i.e. XSLT
and XPATH. Have a look at http://xml.openoffice.org/filters.html for more
info on XML based filters.

> So, I would ask you, what solution do you belive is the most suitable

Start with the generation of content.xml files as it will allow you to easily
get to grips with the various tags, and to know the mapping of your
attributes into OOo attributes. Once this is done then writing a filter
should be a bit easier.

Have you tried one of the release candidates for 2.0.1 ?
Also have you tested with OOo 1.1.x ?

If you mean the XML for the document you are currently looking at, then simply
copy SXW file to a ZIP file (i.e. copy it and change SXW to ZIP). Then open
the file with WinZip (or equivalent). The most interesting file is
probablythe contents.xml file.

Hi Victor,
All OOo fiels are only zipped XML. So you can unzip the file and alter the

Please note that many of the developers or OOo are working fulltime in the
Central European Timezone. Therefore your question would only have been
available for a few hours before they left work.

Also I find it better to state the problem before you state what you've tried
to do to solve it, or what symptoms you see.

I can understand that.

Many people have problems compiling OOo and most of this stems from the fact
that they have not used the setup as explained in the development tools area.
I'd advise you to have a look at http://wiki.services.openoffice.org and read
the HOWTOs there on compiling. Obviously if you find problems and/or
omissions then please add comments.

Hi Garret,
The best place to look for that is in Issuezilla ( the bug tracking system).
You can see the list of all issues with more than 10 votes :
http://www.openoffice.org/issues/buglist.cgi?issue_status=NEW&issue_status=STARTED&issue_status=REOPENED&issueidtype=include&votes=&chfieldto=Now&chfieldvalue=&field0-0-0=votes&type0-0-0=greaterthan&value0-0-0=10&cmdtype=doit&Submit+query=Submit+query

Some of these may be easy items and some may be impossible.
Have a look and do not be afraid to ask some questions.

Also have a look at http://wiki.services.openoffice.org

Hi Neil,
Have a look at http://wiki.services.openoffice.org as it has a good deal
about how to get started.

My recommendation is that you start working on a minor problem which really
bugs you and solve that first.

There is a Spanish site available at http://es.openoffice.org.
Note that the language of the core components of OpenOffice.org is C++.
However you can write extensions in C++, Java, Python or StarBasic.

And remove Nazi symbols (as they are illegal in many European countries),
and images which are illegal in Israel, and then you have those images or

[dev] Poor results on the mailing list thru Suns newsgroups gateway

2006-11-02 Thread CPHennessy
Hi Sunnies!
You should know that (at least for me) almost every Sun employees replies
coming thru your newsgroup gateway breaks email threading. Only those of you
who are directly subscribed to the mailing lists have correct threading.
This makes following topics quite difficult.

Another issue frequently seen with Sun replies is that there can frequently be
2 or 3 copies of exactly the same message.

Please can someone in Sun fix these problems, or can Sun people be encouraged
to subscribe directly to the mailing lists ?

Thanks,

Hi Niko,
You should be able to do quite a bit of this as an extension. There are many
libraries which will provide the underlying functionalites for you ( have a
look at PCL from gispython.com ).

Note that you may not see all responses to your question as you are not

[dev] Mails from moderated users

2007-05-19 Thread CPHennessy
Hi all,
 Yes, this 'pain-in-the-ass' problem.

Currently for most people there is no visible indication in emails that they
are from people who are not subscribed to this mailing list, so most people
responding to those emails generally only reply to this mailing list. This of
course means that unsubscribed users do not see the replies - unless they
have figured out that there is a web interface or gmane.org.

Of course some could reply that if these moderated users are so stupid that
they do not subscribe to this mailing list they should be ignored.

However we all started off in a position of ignorance.

The interesting thing about many of these moderated emails that never got a
direct response, is that they are potential developers, who would at least
like to make some contributors to OpenOffice.org.

What I would like to suggest is :
1) people should be aware on ALL MAILING LISTS that there are moderated
emails, and at least have a policy on whether those emails should be answered
or not, and/or whether

2) everyone should know how to flag the fact that an email is moderated (this
is quite easy to do as there is an email header "Delivered-to:" which if it
contains "moderator", is obviously a moderated email. Most modern email tools
can be setup to do some filtering and add an indication to show that an email
has been moderated.

3) that ultimately the moderator should make sure that all emails get
responded to with the OP being CC:ed.

The list of moderated emails since Feburary (which I noticed) that never got a
reply is:
