I tried build.pl verbose=true in instsetoo_native but it only
returns the same error with no additional info. I also tried dmake
util but nothing happened (No output to console). I also tried
deleting everything (Including source) and starting the build from

No, this does not work, configure translates any junction (because cygpath -w) does. Just try to put the OpenOffice.org source tree in a short absolute pathname like c:\ooo. Will report to cygwin. In cases like this, I suggest to use linkd.exe to create a junction point. linkd.exe is included with the operating system. See you tomorrow. Hello. I can't build OpenOffice.org under Windows, because when the postprocess stage is reached, it fails. I have already run rebaseall and peimageall, which are supposed to solve this issue. Solved. The cause was that pathnames where too long. The argument list of the rebase command (long list of DLLs). So, what can we do? Microsoft linker needs the LIB variable or the /LIBPATH switch so that libraries are searched in solver/../lib. For consistency with INCLUDE, I would use the LIB environment variable, and rename the existing LIB. What option should we choose? Finally I managed to isolate the problem. It is a problem with case.
The Microsoft Visual C++ express defines the LIB environment variable
(vcvars32.bat). The Cygwin system translates it to lowercase lib. Openoffice
build system defines uppercase LIB, and leaves lib untouched. When the
Microsoft compiler and linker is run, and both the uppercase LIB and lowercase
exist, the conversion Unix environment - Windows environment passes lowercase
lib.
Setting under cygwin LIB=${lib} and, most important, unsetting lib fixed the
problem.
But I am afraid this problem may happen to any user. What should we do? Perhaps
the lib (lowercase) should be undefined in the variables script winenv.set.sh.

there is nothing we need to do for the LIB variable as it is used already. The
LIB variable is set in the environment of the linker when it is called. So
whatever goes wrong in your build, it must have another reason.
Currently I'm working on Linux, maybe later I will have some time to check
what's going on.
To exclude possible errors: does your build work if you build the
libxml2 module, call deliver for it and then build libxslt?

After studying the failures in the components that link against libxml2 (libxslt and xmlsecurity) I am convinced that there is a bug in the build system. The makefiles (tg_ext.mk) defines the INCLUDE variable on Windows platforms, used by Microsoft compilers to define the search path for header files. But the LIB variable, needed for the search path for libraries, is not defined. I am attaching a path. I am going to test the build. The build errors were reported in previous mails. This is weird. So all the other modules have been built correctly? cd into ./DEV300_m83/instsetoo_native and do build.pl verbose=true (so you will se commands invoked). I had a issue building in the instsetoo_native/util directory. But there was an error message. I solved it entering it, doing dmake util (instead of simply dmake) and then it was built correctly. I used libxml2 bundled in OOo. But the compilation of both libxslt and libxmlsecurity did not include the solver/../lib in the linker path. I am having exactly the same problem when building libxmlsecurity. I solved by
editing the makefile.mk of this module. I uncommented two lines with the
CONFIGURE_FLAGS, and quoted the arguments of the INC and LIB directories. These
lines are now:

include=$(BASEINC) lib=$(BASELIB)

I checked that the file makefile.mk did not change in the most recent version
in the mercurial repository.
So I ask, is this supposed to compile cleanly under Windows? I can't see how,

searching libraries in this directory. It is listed in the linker flags in

On the other hand, what conditions should meet a new build system to be
accepted? I find the current one somewhat odd. It is a mixture of perl and
dmake. I could contribute a new one.

Hello, I am builing OpenOffice under Windows using Cygwin and Visual Studio
Express. I am having some issues, some small, and others not so small.
I am using the DEV300_m79 milestone.

libxml2.lib was successfully installed and copied to
solver/300/wntmsci12.pro/lib/libxml2.lib. It seems that Microsoft linker is not
searching libraries in this directory. It is listed in the linker flags in
${SOLARLIB}.
On the other hand, what conditions should meet a new build system to be
accepted? I find the current one somewhat odd. It is a mixture of perl and
dmake. I could contribute a new one.
