Re: [NOMINATIONS] New Name for SensSoft
I would like to propose the name “Folktale" as in simple stories about people, told by people. In one view, the project is about capturing users’ stories as they pass through web media. In another, to me the project vision has always been longer reaching than describing use, but about understanding people and how navigate through information. Our process level perspective made me think about “stories”—people, places and things connected in a narrative. Our technology collects, abstracts, and distributes those stories to other interested services, which make me think about how folktales are passed along. It’s an approachable name, friendly, and… doesn’t result in any hits for marks on USPTO. Stories always go better with ALE. The proposed name would therefore be Apache Folktale (Incubating) From a marketing perspective, I’m thinking about etching like images of 19th century folks at a pub with a pint. > On Oct 11, 2018, at 12:43 PM, lewis john mcgibbney wrote: > > Hi Folks, > This thread opens the NOMINATIONS for new candidate names to replace Apache > SensSoft (Incubating) with... something else! > !! I would like to propose the name "MANTIS" as in the Mantis Shrimp which has a very complex visual sensory system. Known to have the most complex visual system in the animal kingdom, mantis shrimps have 16 types of photoreceptors (light detectors) that can detect visible and ultraviolet (UV) light and are the only known animals to see the circularly polarized light! Aside from that, they can sense light depth on one eye while independently moving the other.
