Re: Promote the ShaleClayStarter archetype
Hi, The tutorial and the ShaleClayStarter kit is really a nice work, but the starter kit doesn't work from scratch for me :-( I have tried to use it, and got an error about a missing file. I have corrected the error by adding chain-config.xml (copied from another example) in the sources, recompiled and try it again. Am I the only one having this problem ? Before promoting the starter kit, I suggest : * to correct the above error if it is an error. * to use more friendly name for the classes like TestVC (MyViewController ? TestViewController ? ...) RE: Promote the ShaleClayStarter archetype
Hi Please apply the latest patch from [1]- When the unneeded file chain-config.xml was removed it was still referenced in the archtype resource listing. [1] https://issues.apache.org/struts/secure/attachment/13422/SCStarterPatch.patch I'll look into renaming it to a more explaining name. [X] +1 Yes (non-binding) Yes we need tutorials. Please be requested to add couple of slides as to what is major difference between Shale and Struts2. Should there be or Can Shale and Struts2 be in same project. Shale Remoting calling Struts2. We need half-object or something like ClientSide Screen Orchestration. RIA needs ClientSide Screen Orchestration. Because Widgets sometimes are as good as Small Components Screens . Managing dependency - cross component updates etc requires DESIGN supported in Architecture. e.g Error in one part ; needs all other widgets to change state. How to refactor complex State Dependency. Can State Updates be Aspectized. e.g. For all Error of this kind, Widget takes update themseleves with this State Does requirement makes sense ?? I know I am not best at communication :( Chand - Original Message - From: Craig McClanahan [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: dev@shale.apache.org; [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Tuesday, February 27, 2007 7:50 PM Subject: Re: Promote the ShaleClayStarter archetype On 2/27/07, Hermod Opstvedt [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Hi Now that there are a couple of tutorials on the Wiki (and more to come) covering Shale and Clay and that is sparked off by the Maven Shale/Clay starter archetype, I'd like to call for a vote to promote it so that it gets into the distro. RE: Promote the ShaleClayStarter archetype
Hi With respect to Shale and Struts2 that would be mixing two MVC architectures because they both have their own application controller. If you are thinking about the WebWorks part of Struts2 that might be doable as Shale does not imply many restrictions on the view layer. There has been some efforts with respect to the ClientSide Screen Orchestration as far as validation goes [1] [1] http://www.mail-archive.com/dev@myfaces.apache.org/msg18916.html Hermod -Original Message- From: Chandresh Turakhia [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Wednesday, February 28, 2007 7:21 AM To: dev@shale.apache.org Subject: Re: Promote the ShaleClayStarter archetype [X] +1 Yes (non-binding) Yes we need tutorials.
