Re: [EXTERNAL] TC 8.0.0

2022-08-23 Thread Jeremy Mitchell
So I, personally, would prefer a 7.1 with an API 4.1 to provide the
backwards compatibility jonathan speaks of...unless there is something that
absolutely requires api 5.x..

The lack of TO API backward compatibility support is causing me whiplash as a
consumer of that API and continues to add development and support costs with
each upgrade.

I was just curious what the justification for TC 8.0 was. We are rolling
majors pretty quick (not sure that's a bad thing) and was just wondering if
there was a "big" change i was unaware of and apologies for missing the
working group where this was probably discussed.

I'm guessing i know the reason: TO API 5.x? which does worry me a bit
because i believe that means API 3.x will be deprecated / on the chopping
block.

TC 8.0.0

2022-08-23 Thread Jeremy Mitchell
I was just curious what the justification for TC 8.0 was. We are rolling
majors pretty quick (not sure that's a bad thing) and was just wondering if
there was a "big" change i was unaware of and apologies for missing the
working group where this was probably discussed.

I'm guessing i know the reason: TO API 5.x? which does worry me a bit
because i believe that means API 3.x will be deprecated / on the chopping
block.

respond to this email and it's on the agenda.

1. Attendance
- Zach Hoffman
- Taylor Frey
- Stephen Hamrick
- Eric Holguin
- Srijeet Chatterjee
- Joshua Zenn
2. ML: Vote on 7.0.1-RC
- Should we drop the minimum 72-hours requirement?
- It's ultimately up to the Release Manager, so we can just
remove it from the voting email template.
3. Jeremy doesn't want an 8.0.0
- That should be discussed on the mailing list.
