Re: VelocityTools Logo Voting.
Hi Edward. Maybe I missed it, but I didn't notice a vector version of the VelocityTools logo. Unless you made it directly in a bitmap format, would it be possible for you to also submit it in a vector format? Just to clarify: "selected" means that the task was put out there, you claimed it and i said "cool". :) Also, Texen's logo only needs to say "Texen". Though, *if* it looks nice and/or *if* you want to or think it would look good, it could also include the word "Velocity", but as a separate word and ideally less prominent. I believe i already mentioned this in the comments of the task, but thought i should remind you since you seem to be calling it "VelocityTexen". :) Please be sure to review the task details and comments: http://code.google.com/p/google-highly-open-participation-asf/issues/detail?id=30 > Since we're about 50/50 on the logo choosing proposition, we could (and this > is my opinion only) use one logo for VelocityTexen and one logo for > VelocityTools. (Both have the initials of VT.) Efficiency (the encouraged form of laziness) is great (an excellent quality for anyone working in software!), but my preference in this situation would be to have something different. None of the other Velocity subprojects have look-alike logos, and i think that works well. For reference, here's what we have for our projects so far: Anakia: http://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/ANAKIA-5 Docbook Framework: http://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/DBF-8 Engine: http://velocity.apache.org/engine/devel/images/velocity-logo.png VelocityTools: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/VELTOOLS-92 Since Texen is not any closer related to VelocityTools than any of the others, i think it might cause confusion if their logos are much more similar to each other than to the rest. > However, if the people here at Velocity think that I should develop a new > logo, by all means, I will try. it is ultimately your call what you want to contribute though. :) > Regards, > > Edward > > > > On Dec 18, 2007 3:12 PM, Nathan Bubna <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > > Will do! Re: VelocityTools Logo Voting.
Hi, For the rest of the community that don't know; I was selected to do VelocityTexen's logo. Since we're about 50/50 on the logo choosing proposition, we could (and this is my opinion only) use one logo for VelocityTexen and one logo for VelocityTools. Before you reply, however, I want to say something in advance: please don't think of me as being lazy after creating the logo for VelocityTools. I just feel that it would be beneficial because one of the logos I created for VelocityTools (the most recently updated one) I feel that it would work better for VelocityTexen. (Both have the initials of VT.) However, if the people here at Velocity think that I should develop a new logo, by all means, I will try. Will do! Great work! FYI, the Texen logo task is now open again. I may only be sporadically available in the next couple days (travelling for the holidays), but if you claim it, then i'll try to give it to you as soon as i can. Thanks again! Thanks for letting me work on the logo. I'm glad I had the opportunity to work with and communicate with the people at Velocity. If you need any help design wise, be sure to contact me. Re: VelocityTools Logo Voting.
Thanks, Nathan, but I really want the velocity website to decide. After all, the logo is going to be on their website. Heres an updated version of number 1, with the screenshot of what it would look like on the website: http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/dd53/shadowpwner/VelocityTools1copy.png ~Edward :) On Dec 17, 2007 3:14 PM, Nathan Bubna <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > If no one breaks the tie for you, you should do it yourself since this > is your contribution to the project. :) Of course, technically it > does still fall to the PMC (project management committee) to decide > whether to use your contribution, but i wouldn't worry about that. > Just make this something you're proud of. > > On Dec 17, 2007 2:50 PM, Edward <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > So.. > > > > 2 votes for 1 (needs to be edited) > > and 2 votes for 3b. > > > > We need a tie-breaker. anyone? :) > > > > > > > > > > On Dec 17, 2007 2:42 PM, csanders <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > > > > Oops I change my vote to 3b. > > > > > > > > > On Mon, 2007-12-17 at 10:06 -0600, csanders wrote: > > > > 3a gets my vote. > > > > > > > > On Sat, 2007-12-15 at 17:11 +, Edward wrote: > > > > > Hello all, > > > > > > > > > > A few days ago, I joined the GHOP (Google Highly Open > Participation > > > Contest) > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > After a couple of revisions, here it goes: > > > > > > > > > > 1) First draft, I didn't like it very much: > > > > > > > > > http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/dd53/shadowpwner/ApacheVelocityTools.png > > > > > 2) > > > > > > > > > http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/dd53/shadowpwner/ApacheVelocityTools2.png > > > > > 3a) > > > > > > > > > http://s226.photobucket.com/albums/dd53/shadowpwner/?action=view¤t=ApacheVelocityTools3Solid.png > > > > > 3b) > > > > > > > > > http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/dd53/shadowpwner/ApacheVelocityTools3Gradient.png > > > > > > > > > > If you don't like any of the logos, please speak up so I can > hopefully > > > > > design another one that you think looks good. :) > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Regards, > > > > > > > > > > Edward > > > > > > > > > - > > > > To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > > > > For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > > > > > > > > > > - > > > To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > > > For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > > > > > > > > > > > > -- > > Light travels faster than sound. Re: VelocityTools Logo Voting.
If no one breaks the tie for you, you should do it yourself since this is your contribution to the project. :) Of course, technically it does still fall to the PMC (project management committee) to decide whether to use your contribution, but i wouldn't worry about that. Just make this something you're proud of.
