[jira] [Created] (ZEPPELIN-2375) Some interpreters (md) fail with java.lang.IncompatibleClassChangeError is CLASSPATH is set
Christian Fries created ZEPPELIN-2375: - Summary: Some interpreters (md) fail with java.lang.IncompatibleClassChangeError is CLASSPATH is set Key: ZEPPELIN-2375 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/ZEPPELIN-2375 Project: Zeppelin Issue Type: Bug Components: Interpreters, zeppelin-server Affects Versions: 0.7.1, 0.7.0, 0.6.2, 0.8.0 Environment: macOS Sierra (OS X) Version 10.12.3, Java 1.7 to Java 1.8 (1.7u80, 1.8u121), Maven 3.2.5 or 3.3.9 Reporter: Christian Fries The issue is a follow-up of https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/ZEPPELIN-2370 - clarifying the reasons. When the CLASSPATH variable is set in bash (even if it is empty), some zeppelin interpreters fail (on OS X). The error occurs if you run {code} export CLASSPATH= ./bin/zeppelin.sh {code} and then try to execute the md interpreter, e.g. via {code} %md *Test* {code} I then get the following error {code} java.lang.IncompatibleClassChangeError: class org.objectweb.asm.tree.ClassNode has interface org.objectweb.asm.ClassVisitor as super class at java.lang.ClassLoader.defineClass1(Native Method) at java.lang.ClassLoader.defineClass(ClassLoader.java:800) at java.security.SecureClassLoader.defineClass(SecureClassLoader.java:142) at java.net.URLClassLoader.defineClass(URLClassLoader.java:449) at java.net.URLClassLoader.access$100(URLClassLoader.java:71) at java.net.URLClassLoader$1.run(URLClassLoader.java:361) at java.net.URLClassLoader$1.run(URLClassLoader.java:355) at java.security.AccessController.doPrivileged(Native Method) at java.net.URLClassLoader.findClass(URLClassLoader.java:354) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(ClassLoader.java:425) at sun.misc.Launcher$AppClassLoader.loadClass(Launcher.java:308) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(ClassLoader.java:358) at java.lang.ClassLoader.defineClass1(Native Method) at java.lang.ClassLoader.defineClass(ClassLoader.java:800) at java.security.SecureClassLoader.defineClass(SecureClassLoader.java:142) at java.net.URLClassLoader.defineClass(URLClassLoader.java:449) at java.net.URLClassLoader.access$100(URLClassLoader.java:71) at java.net.URLClassLoader$1.run(URLClassLoader.java:361) at java.net.URLClassLoader$1.run(URLClassLoader.java:355) at java.security.AccessController.doPrivileged(Native Method) at java.net.URLClassLoader.findClass(URLClassLoader.java:354) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(ClassLoader.java:425) at sun.misc.Launcher$AppClassLoader.loadClass(Launcher.java:308) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(ClassLoader.java:358) at org.parboiled.transform.ParserTransformer.extendParserClass(ParserTransformer.java:43) at org.parboiled.transform.ParserTransformer.transformParser(ParserTransformer.java:38) at org.parboiled.Parboiled.createParser(Parboiled.java:54) at org.pegdown.plugins.PegDownPlugins$Builder.withPlugin(PegDownPlugins.java:126) at org.apache.zeppelin.markdown.PegdownParser.(PegdownParser.java:35) at org.apache.zeppelin.markdown.Markdown.createMarkdownParser(Markdown.java:75) at org.apache.zeppelin.markdown.Markdown.open(Markdown.java:85) at org.apache.zeppelin.interpreter.LazyOpenInterpreter.open(LazyOpenInterpreter.java:70) at org.apache.zeppelin.interpreter.remote.RemoteInterpreterServer$InterpretJob.jobRun(RemoteInterpreterServer.java:483) at org.apache.zeppelin.scheduler.Job.run(Job.java:175) at org.apache.zeppelin.scheduler.ParallelScheduler$JobRunner.run(ParallelScheduler.java:162) at java.util.concurrent.Executors$RunnableAdapter.call(Executors.java:471) at java.util.concurrent.FutureTask.run(FutureTask.java:262) at java.util.concurrent.ScheduledThreadPoolExecutor$ScheduledFutureTask.access$201(ScheduledThreadPoolExecutor.java:178) at java.util.concurrent.ScheduledThreadPoolExecutor$ScheduledFutureTask.run(ScheduledThreadPoolExecutor.java:292) at java.util.concurrent.ThreadPoolExecutor.runWorker(ThreadPoolExecutor.java:1145) at java.util.concurrent.ThreadPoolExecutor$Worker.run(ThreadPoolExecutor.java:615) at java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java:745) {code} A further investigation showed that setting CLASSPATH will change the classpath of an interpreter. [GitHub] zeppelin issue #986: [Zeppelin 946] Permissions not honoring group
Github user prabhjyotsingh commented on the issue: https://github.com/apache/zeppelin/pull/986 Sounds like `activeDirectoryRealm.groupRolesMap = "CN=aGroupName,OU=groups,DC=SOME_GROUP,DC=COMPANY,DC=COM":"group1"` not configured correctly. I would recommend - configure it something like `activeDirectoryRealm.groupRolesMap = "CN=admin,OU=groups,DC=SOME_GROUP,DC=COMPANY,DC=COM":"admin","CN=finance,OU=groups,DC=SOME_GROUP,DC=COMPANY,DC=COM":"finance","CN=hr,OU=groups,DC=SOME_GROUP,DC=COMPANY,DC=COM":"hr"` Just confirm with your AD admin, regarding what all users belongs to what all groups. If you are still unsure about what user belongs to what group, set you log4j to debug mode and grep for this https://github.com/apache/zeppelin/blob/v0.6.0/zeppelin-server/src/main/java/org/apache/zeppelin/server/ActiveDirectoryGroupRealm.java#L198. This should give you all details. In my case, there were these three groups i.e. admin, finance, and hr. - After the `[main]` section and before `[urls]` make sure you have `[roles]` defined something like this. ``` [roles] admin = * finance = * hr = * ``` --- If your project is set up for it, you can reply to this email and have your reply appear on GitHub as well. [GitHub] zeppelin pull request #2233: [MINOR] Add paragraph to note
GitHub user AlexanderShoshin opened a pull request: https://github.com/apache/zeppelin/pull/2233 [MINOR] Add paragraph to note ### What is this PR for? We need to add an ability of adding custom _Paragraph_ to a _Note_. This will make it easier to write _Note_ and _Paragraph_ tests. At the moment all paragraphs are created inside _Note_ class. This refactoring will allow to write a test for ZEPPELIN-1856 issue. ### What type of PR is it? These names will describe what mathods do: create new paragraph and add it to the note. * [ ] - Remove duplicated code from `addNewParagraph()` and `insertNewParagraph()` methods. * [ ] - Add methods `addParagraph()` and `insertParagraph()`, which receive a _Paragraph_ instance in parameters and add it to the _Note_. ### Questions: * Does the licenses files need update? **no** * Is there breaking changes for older versions? **no** * Does this needs documentation? **no** You can merge this pull request into a Git repository by running: $ git pull https://github.com/AlexanderShoshin/zeppelin add-paragraph-to-note Alternatively you can review and apply these changes as the patch at: https://github.com/apache/zeppelin/pull/2233.patch To close this pull request, make a commit to your master/trunk branch with (at least) the following in the commit message: This closes #2233 commit 4391f6babe31083b143a8ae260c5feeea5b919cf Author: Alexander ShoshinDate: 2017-04-07T08:44:32Z rename addParagraph() -> addNewParagraph(), insertParagraph() -> insertNewParagraph() commit b0b1dd4841096e9090ab08f8ef55dd15c2c44698 Author: Alexander Shoshin Date: 2017-04-07T08:54:50Z remove duplicated code commit 676db154139a48a30dfc93ce19ca4937f85bae2c Author: Alexander Shoshin Date: 2017-04-07T09:02:07Z added methods addParagraph() and insertParagrepg() --- If your project is set up for it, you can reply to this email and have your reply appear on GitHub as well. [GitHub] zeppelin pull request #2232: [ZEPPELIN-2373] Remove -Pyarn build profile
GitHub user AhyoungRyu opened a pull request: https://github.com/apache/zeppelin/pull/2232 [ZEPPELIN-2373] Remove -Pyarn build profile ### What is this PR for? Currently users who build Zeppelin from source need to include `-Pyarn` build profile to enable Yarn for embedded local Spark. This PR is to remove `-Pyarn` and make Yarn related libraries can be automatically downloaded without the profile during build time. ### What type of PR is it? just removed Yarn build profile in `spark-dependencies/pom.xml` ### What is the Jira issue? [ZEPPELIN-2373](https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/ZEPPELIN-2373) ### How should this be tested? 1. apply this patch and build Zeppelin with below command ``` mvn clean package -DskipTests -pl 'zeppelin-server, spark-dependencies, spark' --am ``` 2. check `spark-yarn_${scala.binary.version}.jar` is downloaded(or included) during build time ``` [INFO] Including org.apache.spark:spark-yarn_2.10:jar:2.1.0 in the shaded jar. ``` In current master, the above line won't be shown if you don't use `-Pyarn` build profile. But with this patch, it will be shown without the profile. ### Questions: * Does the licenses files need update? no * Is there breaking changes for older versions? no * Does this needs documentation? no You can merge this pull request into a Git repository by running: $ git pull https://github.com/AhyoungRyu/zeppelin ZEPPELIN-2373/includeYarnByDefault Alternatively you can review and apply these changes as the patch at: https://github.com/apache/zeppelin/pull/2232.patch To close this pull request, make a commit to your master/trunk branch with (at least) the following in the commit message: This closes #2232 commit 59eb2b505ff1ca70ff31cd3aaf1a7b3b5998e09a Author: AhyoungRyuDate: 2017-04-07T10:44:26Z Remove -Pyarn build profile --- If your project is set up for it, you can reply to this email and have your reply appear on GitHub as well. [GitHub] zeppelin issue #986: [Zeppelin 946] Permissions not honoring group
Github user prabhjyotsingh commented on the issue: https://github.com/apache/zeppelin/pull/986 @ekantheshwara yes, this version should have the above-mentioned fix. Could be a configuration issue, if you can share what exactly are you trying with i.e. is it with file based auth, LDAP or AD. Also you can look into log file `zeppelin-{machine-name}-{machine-id}.local.log` for more logs when you login, with something like this `({qtp1846406218-26} LoginRestApi.java[postLogin]:115) - {"status":"OK","message":"","body":{"principal":"hr1","ticket":"98569477-5809-43c6-acb4-7b22e78d7541","roles":"[admin]"}}` If you see `"roles":"[admin]"` means user hr1 is assigned to role->admin in this example, but if `"roles":"[]"` i.e. it is empty, then it means there if problem with configuration. Here is a doc to help you out http://zeppelin.apache.org/docs/0.6.1/security/shiroauthentication.html. --- If your project is set up for it, you can reply to this email and have your reply appear on GitHub as well. NoSuchMethodError: org.apache.spark.ui.SparkUI.appUIAddress() for the spark master ### What is this PR for? `SparkUI.addUIAddress` is removed in spark master which cause this error. [Improvement | Refactoring] ### Todos * [ ] - Task ### What is the Jira issue? * https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/ZEPPELIN-2150 ### How should this be tested?
