Hi,

For those who are still interested in XULRunner, I created a project to 
maintain the source of xulrunner-stub, and build against Firefox SDK. 
Here is the link:

https://github.com/duanyao/xulrunner-stub

Currently only win32 is supported, and Firefox 47a2 is tested.

I'd like to ask Mozilla people: will this route work for next 2 or 3 years?

I extracted xulrunner/stub/nsXULStub.cpp, xpcom/build/nsXPCOMPrivate.h , 
toolkit/xre/nsWindowsWMain.cpp and build them with Firefox SDK, and it seems
to work well. However, I'd like to ask Mozilla pepole: will this route 
keep feasible in the coming 2-3 years?

Xulrunner has just been removed from the tree so your question it obsolete.

I'm not sure why that page links to the nightly builds but the release
versions are here: http://archive.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/

Note that Firefox 45 hasn't been released yet so the latest SDK is for
one of the beta versions.

version is xulrunner-41.0.2 would this be compatible wit Firefox 45. If not 
where can I get a version that is compatible with Firefox 45. I see that

I'm looking at creating a simple XUL app as a way of replacing Open Web Apps 
which just found their way onto the chopping block. My plan is to try to create 
a shim that will run firefox with the -a argument. Is this going to keep 
working, or is that going to break when XULRunner gets turned down?

I’d like to finetune my earlier statement - after talking things over a bit 
with Benjamin - to say: I’d like to volunteer if there’s no one else moving 
forward to take this project on.

The reason is that I’m not currently working on or using XULRunner tech, so my 
level of engagement is low. I’m only really interested in a gecko bootstrap 
binary (called ‘xulrunner-stub’ at the moment) to continue to exist for my 
future projects.

If there’s someone who’s using XULRunner frequently for their projects, I’m 
sure she or he will be a much better fit! Please step forward. :-)

 with XULRunner specific documentation anymore, so any documentation work
 would have to be taken up by the person or people that pick up the project.

 Two weeks during summer time seems a bit short. You may not get
 interested people that are vacationing.


The old code will still be there in version control. If an owner emerges
after 2 weeks, we can always revert the delete.

Two weeks during summer time seems a bit short. You may not get 
interested people that are vacationing.

I should note also that the MDN staff can't put any time into helping
with XULRunner specific documentation anymore, so any documentation work
would have to be taken up by the person or people that pick up the project.

I would, however, be quite happy to spend some time helping whoever
takes on that work -- or whoever picks up writing work for it -- on
exactly how to contribute the needed material to MDN.
