OK, sorry again, just now I realized what you mean, it will give a
bunch of work and it will consume a bunch of time, which I don't have.
What you suggest ? Should I rollback ogre to version 1.9 with EPOCH

Ogre-1.12.9 is in rawhide , I will test dependent builds in my copr
opencv project [1] , you are invited to send to there some tests and we
will see how the things goes , if we need send PR(s) to maintainers
etc. My goal is enable opencv ovis module on opencv package [2]

[2]
OVIS Module

allows you to render 3D data using the OGRE 3D engine and obtain the
rendering as cv::Mat.

So I took a quick peek at this and the last comments there are:

 IooNag commented on 2019-10-09 20:25

I confirm it is broken, but I won't have time in the next few weeks to search
what OGRE broke this time and to write a patch to make funguloids work again.
If you would like to contribute to this package, I maintain it on
https://github.com/fishilico/funguloids and can accept Pull Requests there.

Singularity commented on 2019-09-24 01:46

Seems compiling broke once again … :(

So AFAIK the arch patches will make things work with ogre 1.11 but not with
1.12 :|

So it looks like this is going to require a bunch of work all over the place;
and all apps must be tested once fixed, just fixing compilation is not enough,
see e.g. :

https://github.com/fishilico/funguloids/commits/master

For all the work which was necessary to make it work with 1.11.

I'm afraid that this is not a case of a simple rebuild, ogre tends
to break its API every minor release (iow only bugfix releases
have a stable API). AFAIK this is why the previous maintainer was holding
of on updating ogre.

It seems that archlinux has patches to make funguloids work with a
newer ogre:

https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/funguloids/

But that is just funguloids, the other packages likely need work
too.

I also took a quick peek at cegui and sumwars (sumwars is the
sole cegui user) it seems arch is using a snapshot of the latest
cegui master from: https://github.com/cegui/cegui/ and then
sumwars should just work, at least with ogre-1.10, I guess/hope
that most of the API breakage happened going from 1.9 to 1.10.

We should be able to sort this out for rawhide/F34, but please drop
the update from F33.

Following up on this (sorry for off topic):

You mentioned also that the successor to numad was automatic numa balancing via
kernel facilities.

However I did not find any meaningful documentation how this is exactly done or
how this can be tuned, if at all.

I found the general overview here, which gives a good general introduction to
numa but not how auto placement works:

https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/admin-guide/mm/numaperf.html

I found also
https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/admin-guide/mm/numa_memory_policy.html

which talks about possible memory policys at greath length but also doesn't go
into the topic of auto balancing.
At least numactl is mentioned which can be used to manually tweak the memory
policy, but I don't know how that would
interfere with some automagic placement?

Am I missing something or is there no documentation on how the kernel handles
this?
Thanks in advance for any pointers!

I have recently become a sponsor and could help you out to become a
packager yourself, so that you can "save" fossil. Thus, let me propose a
"deal":
I will take fossil in the meantime and to prevent it from getting
retired and you will learn how to become a full fledged maintainer of
fossil in a agreed upon time frame. Once you're ready, I'll sponsor you
into the packager group and you'll take over fossil as the main
maintainer.
How does that sound to you? I'd be more than happy to help you get
started, although I think that you already have a good grasp what's
going on given the pull request that you shared.

Cheers,

Dan

Hi Fedora developers, will someone be able to take over `fossil`? It is my
day-to-day source code and configuration management software. It is essential
to me. I hope it won't get orphaned.

I have made a pull request on Pagure to upgrade fossil to 2.12.1 [1] to include
a CVE bug fix. In addition, I have worked with Fedora SQLite team to add
necessary compilation options to support advanced features in fossil [2].

In long term, I will provide in-time update for this package through Pagure's
pull-request feature. I hope to get recognized as a trustworthy packager and
become a co-maintainer eventually.

Thank you!

Just wanted to flag this one up, because all of libvirt depends on it.
So if no-one else wants it, someone from virt team should probably take
it (or drop the dep).

OGRE soname bump on rawhide Re: Orphaned packages looking for new maintainers (hundreds of freshly orphaned F33FTBFS)

2020-11-23 Thread Sérgio Basto
Sorry ,
I updated ogre in rawhide to ogre-1.12.6 ( the PR
https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/ogre/pull-request/1 was ready 5
months ago )

I did a wrong repoquery. I though ogre didn't have any dependency. I
did a query that only query rpmfusion repos, instead query fedora
repos

I hope does not make much trouble , so we need rebuild [1] based on
query [2] .

Orphaned packages looking for new maintainers (hundreds of freshly orphaned F33FTBFS)

2020-11-23 Thread Miro Hrončok

The following packages are orphaned and will be retired when they
are orphaned for six weeks, unless someone adopts them. If you know for sure
that the package should be retired, please do so now with a proper reason:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/How_to_remove_a_package_at_end_of_life

Note: If you received this mail directly you (co)maintain one of the affected
packages or a package that depends on one. Please adopt the affected package or
retire your depending package to avoid broken dependencies, otherwise your
package will be retired when the affected package gets retired.

Request package ownership via the *Take* button in he left column on
https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/

Full report available at:

grep it for your FAS username and follow the dependency chain.
