There is a security profiler tool which can be used to check the access. You

Hi,

Following options can be implemented

1. Production order can be split and spread over 3 months or Create on 
production order but start only partial quantity needed for that month
2. Generate a pick list. Material can be allocated and then issued. Pick list 
is the only way to communicate to Materials department [Indent].
3. In case of extra material is needed you can still create the picklist 
jounral and print out that and issue to the Materials Dept.

Hi,
 
 FIrst thing you never add a table to a virtual Table collection which has records. If you have to have that table first export the table, then go through the process of adding table collection, then imprt the exported table back. When you add the records to any table shared in Virtual Collection the dataareaid is replaced by the Compnay ID of virtual company. The records are now belonging to the companies listed under the Virtual Company. 
 
 TIPS 
 
 1) Implementation of Virtual Company has to be planned ahead and it is not recommended to do any time in between. Then you have to do the task as mentioned above.
 2) Transaction tables should never be shared. 
 3) If you shared a master table remember that all the ancillary tables (groups) should be same in all the companies listed under the Virtual Company.

 In ICO, One company can link with other company only once. Because the accounts specified work as inter company payables  receivables, and you need only one ICO payables and one ICO receivables for any ICO type dealings (Buy / Sell ). I haven't seen any Customer requesting multiple accounts the way you had expressed.

 I think the Consultant is right. Basically that is the Invoice Account or the Remit To type of vendor. If you have a Vendor who has 4 different Retail offices you purchase items from , but you send Remittance to only the Head Office, then create 5 Vendor accounts and in 4 vendor accounts use the Invoice Account of teh Head Office. 
 
 Other option you have is to Modify the Check printing program (which I wouldn't recommend anytime)

 Have you checked the Number Sequence, and can you let us know in which module/menu option and which number sequence like Voucher Number sequence already used .. Voucher number is most of the time a number sequence which implementers don't take care about and get problems in Live Implementation sites.
 
 My suggestion will be to check which Number Sequence is a problem , which you can find out from the Infolog, and have a look at the Sequence and may be your option will be to put a prefix to it.

 The purchase order prints both internal and vendor Item number one below the other. But I don't see a line number field in the output format until and unless you have a option pack (Country specific layer), or modification. Normally we modify the Purchase order Report to suit certain requirements like this. We print a text description Vendor Part -  and then the part number of the vendor in bold so that it is distinctly visible.

Hi Andew,
 
Can you please expalin what folders are copied and renamed? 
 
If you loook at the installation directory , you have a structure something like this
 
Navision  Axapta Application  Appl  and under Appl you can have sub folders which can AXTEST , AXDEV , Standard. So if your developers do development in AXDEV program directory , you can just copy the AXDEV and restore it over AXTEST, also you would like to take a SQL backup of database connected to DEV environment and then restore that SQL backup on TEST Db using SQL Manager. Be careful when you are doing these tasks, in this case you are replicating whatever is in DEV environment on to TEST environment.
 
In case you are trying to just copy certain changes , then you may be better off by exporting with Lables (normally you should have created a Label file) and then import the project in TEST. Take care about the label file in TEST environment.

I think if you look at the InventTable from AOT  Delete Actions the BomVersion , RouteVersion tables are linked so may be when you were prompted to delete the Tables while re-importing they got deleted. Can you check if you have records in BOMVersion and RouteVersion tables ?
 
If you are trying to import these tables in TEST Database, I will suggest that you use SQL statement to clear the tables rather than going through Axapta.

[development-axapta] Auto field Advance in Grid

Hi,
 
I wanted to know whether there is any properties on the Grid field we can use to make Axapta jump to next field automatically once the field is filled. 
 
I have a Grid with one column, where I have to capture information for an item. The field is in Grid because the number of enteries is based upon the quantity of the Item shipped. So if the Item Quantity to be shipped is 8 , I want the user to scan 8 serial numbers , but after every serial number scanned by the user the cursor should jump to next line in the grid. 
 
One way to program the scanner by adding new Line feed in the scanner device after it has scanned the bar code, but I wanted to know if it is possible to do it with in Axapta.

[development-axapta] Invoice Consolidation

Hi ,
 
We have a requirement may be a special and peculiar too. We would like to consolidate all the Open Invoices for a customer and create one Invoice with total amount equal to the sum of the invoices selected for consolidation. I am trying to look into the possibilities by writting a code to do this automatically. I had identified that there are tables like CustOpenTrans which can be used to display the Invoices on a form , then use the filter selection for customer code , Invoice date range , Payterm code to filter the invoices. The form will allow to mark the invoices to be consolidated and then have a menu button which will execute the consolidation routine.
 
 I don't know how should I go ahead with reversing the existing Invoices and creating a consolidated invoice. The thing to remember here is that we are not posting a Cash Payment against the invoices which are to be consolidated and this is to be done using X++ code. 
 
I highly appreciate responses and ideas from the forum/group. This is a typical requirement for a customer who deals in Finance and Leasing types aprat from a Sales and Distribution.

[development-axapta] Failed to Create or Open Session Control File (axdat.UDB)

Hi Guys,
 
We have a 2-tier and 3-tier setup. 3 tier connections work fine. 2-tier works fine on the server. We have Application server which also serves as our AOS. But when we try to login from a client which is configure as 2-tier I'm getting the error about AXDAT.UDB. The application is not opened in exclusive mode , I have checked the ACUs. I tried the possible solution like 
 
1. Log off all Users.
2. Shut down AOS Instance and Server 
3. Deleted AXDAT.UDB
4. Logged in from 2-tier on a Client  logged off 
5. Strated AOS
6. Logged on from another Client 3-tier mode
7. Tried login from the same 2-tier client (step 4) 
 
I am still getting the error Failed to Create or Open Session Control File (axdat.UDB) in Shared write mode , insufficient access rights or another application has Locaked the file in exclusive write mode.

I think you need to look for tables which store the information like for instance PBARule, PBARuleAction etc, and PBA classes. I haven't gone that deep to see what is the sequence of execution of code once you trigger the PB. But I think somebody should have figured out, and it will be interesting to hear from them.

you can check for the responses entered by user and calculate / manipulate
data based on the input, if you see the nodes you can attache the If / else,
Loop (for While) or X++ code. You can have array elements too. Have a look

there.

Everything thing gets embedded in the Model when you compile, and the forms
are loaded, you can control the display of elements on the form by Visible /
invisible properties, the model once compiled runs very well in Rich/ thin
client as well as Web. 

But check on one thing that the sales ordered configured on the web using
Product builder doesn't get recorded as what was configured, so when you go
back to the rich client and open up the Sales order and check it you will
not find the configuration. I think this is a known bug not yet addressed.

Hi,
 
As a standard installation procedure one should keep Live and Test environment separte. This can be done in Axapta. 
 
1) You can copy the Standard folder under the Axapta Application and rename it as Live , and Test. 
 
2) Create database AXLIVE and AXTEST 
 
3) Create 2 copies of Configuration utility and change the Application directory to point to AXLIVE and AXTEST application folders and also see that your ODBC in case of 2 tier is pointing to correct database. In case of 3-tier , you need to create multiple AOS pointing to the databases.

  I want to insert a logo or picture at main menu in
  axapta. Can it be done in axapta? what should i do?
  
  FYI i'm using Axapta 3.0

[development-axapta] X++ source in Conversion Tab of Data Import

I am trying to write a code in the Conversion Tab of Data import for InventTable. I have 2 questions 
 
1. Can I write a X++ code which can validate multiple fields, to be more clear and precise can I have a code to say validate Field1 and then validate Field2 in the same script.
 
2. Can anyone send me a sample code just as an example.

Hi Steeve,

Did you check the Document Handling option in Basic SetupDocument Handling
The form provides on which Tables you can manage doucments / or attach documents. 
Since you are abl to attach documents on other options/forms , I think you have security clearance for document Handling as such.

[development-axapta] Extract Data and Create a delimited Text File

I want to extract data from Axapta 3.0and output as a Text Delimited file. I want routine to be run by user during month end and pass this data to another application on a different Hardware platform, can anybody give me some idea as to how should start or anybody has any code / routine which I can make use of to start my little project.

[development-axapta] How to Call more than one report in Axapta

Hi ,

I have developed an auto report and would like to call it from the existing Axapta report. Can anyone please guide me how to do that.

I want to call this report from the ProductionReportsProduction PapersRoute Card option. I created an MenuFunction and instantiated sequentially in fetch method, but the results are not as per what I desire. 
Since I created the Menufunctionand Instantiated in fetch method the Production Route card report runs first then display a range selection screen for running the auto report I created,I would like this report to use the same Query range as entered for the Production Route Card printing , so that the user just enters the range one time and the report is printed.

[development-axapta] Automated Email message for New Users

Hi,

I am using Axpata 3.0 SP1 and my email client is Micrsoft Outlook , which is configured.

I have 2  problems 

A)  How to send an automated email message to newly created Axapta users.  During creation of User Id using wizard, I can see a message that Automated Email message will be sent to the user, so specify the correct email id of the user. But I haven't seen any messages being sent thru my email.  

I have done the following setup

1) created a email message Id and Message under  BASIC  Email Messages.
2) setup my email paramrters undere Administration  Setup  Email Parameters.
I am able to send Axapta Reports as email attachment, so that proves my MAPI client is working. 

B) Also when I click Email Broadcast, and select all users , I get a error message 

No message was sent. Language was not found.

Anybody has ideas about setting up this feature or am I missing something.

[development-axapta] How to display a field in Grid form

Hi All,

I want to display a new field which is added in InventTable on 2 forms. 

 BOMTABLE, BOMCONSISTSOF (in the GRID)

I created the field in InventTable and I am able to maintain it on InventTable Form. Also verified by browsing the table to see if the value of field is getting added fro every Item record. So far everthing is nice. Now I added  InventTable to datasource of BOMTABLE form and also modified the BOMTABLE form under Group:VersionGrp  Grid  to display the new field, with property of EDIT set to NO.  But I am not able to display the value of the field.  

When I try to add the field in BOMCONSISTSOF it is giving me the follwoing error during compilation

Aplication object Name :   BomConsistsOf
Method/Property Name :   init
Error Message :   The name inventTable is already used in an outer scope.
Can somebody help me.

[development-axapta] Standard Cost Rollup and Revaluation

Hi,

I wanted to know whether AXAPTA creates a revaluation entry for posting once the cost roll up is done. Normally most of the ERP packages do the cost roll up and creates a journal entry to be posted to General Ledger as Profit / Loss after cost roll up.  I havent seen that happening in Axpata.  We are using Standard Cost and Axpata 3.0 SP1

[development-axapta] Display User Defined Fields on Grid

Hi,

I have added some new fields to InventTable , and they are supposed to be displayed on BOMConsistof  form. These fields are Item Drawing number and Item Revision numbers. I have modified the the BOMConsistsof Form.  

I have encountered the following problems and don't know how to overcome them , please help me.

1. When I create a new BOM in BOMConsistof form i.e Items  BOM  Lines 
I am able to see Item Revision and Drawing number corresponding to the BOM version which were previously defined, but when I create a New BOM Version , I am not able to view the same fields. 

2. When I add new BOM lines to the BOM , and I try to save or try to add more lines I get an error  for the following fields 

-  Item Group must be defined
-  Item Type must be defined
-  Inventory Model Group must be defined
These errors seems to be displayed as if I am trying to add new Item to InventTable.  
I had to define InventTable twice one for displaying Item Revision and Drawin numbers 
at the BOM version and next for BOM lines. I have defined in data sources
InventTable1  InventTable
InventTable2  InventTable
Can somebody guide me as to how the above errors can be overcome and the form works properly without diplaying any errors.
