Hi,
We are in the process of migrating from AX 3.0 to AX 2009.

We have a third party software which uses com connector to talk to
Axapta 3.0.

Ax2009 has a com connector but you have to install this thru cmd
line. It just wont install.

Here is the link from Microsoft
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc624322.aspx

Also there is a error in this and I found a solution in the this link
http://www.eggheadcafe.com/software/aspnet/33089468/dynamics-ax-2009-
com-conn.aspx

Can somebody help me with how to get this to work?

Also has anything changed with AXcomm.dll in Ax2009 which will not
make the third party software not to work?

Thanks for your help.

Arun

Hi,

We are using ATLAS to create reports in Excel.
In a view we created the invoicedate gets messed up when imported in Excel
through Atlas.

Certain rows are diplayed as dd/MM/ and others as MM/dd/ in the same
report.
So the date column is useless.
Is there a way I can specify in the View to format the date as MMdd or can
I create two calculated columns with the month and year part?

Kind regards,

RE: [development-axapta] how to delete a table in AXAPTA?

2006-01-25 Thread Steve Wright

You cannot remove the table from the AOT as this would create compile
errors (as the table does not exist).

If you are not licensed to use this table - you don't have the
production modules as an example - then the Synchronise facility in
Axapta will drop the table from SQL. If you are licensed to use the
table then the sync utility will create the table in SQL.

Axapta has been designed so that you do all maintenace within Axapta,
you do not need to use SQL Enterprise Manager to create/drop tables.
This is all managed for you by Axapta.

Steve

Hi,

To my knowledge there are two business partners that have a sollution based on (Axapta 3.0) microsoft visual source safe. These
are: http://www.g-s.com.au and the other is http://www.watermark- europe.com Both sollutions work more or less the same: axapta objects are first exported as text file, then the axapta objects are locked (when
edited) or unlocked (when checked in).
The way vss is interfaced with is also not that hard to understand, you can find more about this in the msdn from microsoft.
I would not spend to much time on it though, microsoft eventually will provide a means to cover this.

RE: [development-axapta] Re-take-on

2005-02-01 Thread Steve Wright

Hi Matt

You could try the following...

- Create a new Data Import/Export group and ensure you do not tick
Transaction and Worksheet types tables. If you then export your company it
should only be setup data - no transactions at all.

- Import into a new company
- Reset number sequences if you wish
- Use a product like Atlas xl (www.atlasxl.com.au
http://www.atlasxl.com.au ) to extract balances from your old company into
a spreadsheet, then use Atlas to send a journal back to Axapta using the
figures extracted from the old company. Atlas xl fully supports Axapta
number sequences and provides validation of the journal from Excel. I
suggest a journal per accounting period, it's a bit easier to reconcile.

- You may struggle to get the line item per customer per GL account if it's
not available from your GL. In some our implementations we changed the
transaction text to identify the customer, or use one of Axaptas dimensions
to hold the customer account, this way the customer is always available when
you look at a GL transaction.

Best of luck
Steve.

Hi all,
We are preparing for the rather drastic measure of dropping all
transactional data and doing a fresh takeon with figures calculated from
this transaction data. We will keep our 'old' data available on a separate
system, but our day-to-day processing will happen on this new 'clean' data.
Has anyone tried this before and do you have any suggestions? Can anyone
give me an idea of what data can safely be dropped?

We basically want to drop all transaction data and create a new transaction
per-customer with a line item per-customer per gl account used, totalling
all transactions that would fit that description. What sort of impact will
this have on other tables? I have been digging around frantically trying to
map out Axapta's tangled mess of a database and the deeper I get, the more
lost I get! Does anyone have any idea as to what data is 'safe' to destroy?

With MorphX you can see Axapta classes but you cannot make any changes to

With X++ you can make changes to classes.

With only Morphx you can still import modified classes without problems into

Hi,

Ive just started working with Axapta 3.0 and have come across a rather
large problem.

We have setup a 3-tier system and tried to create some new classes in
the 'var' layer. However, when we add a new 'main' method, and try to
execute it, Axapta complains of not having a main method. Also, if we
add new methods and then save the class, then quit and relauch, when we
re-enter the system, the new methods are gone, with only skeleton 'new'
and 'classDeclaration' methods remaining. Sometimes the name of the
class will also revert to the default (Class1 or Class2 etc).

Has anyone come across this before and have a solution?

Any help is appreciated,

Hi Jesper

Has the COM client been registered as standard windows DLL or via Component
services?

Can any of you please explain and/or correct this behavior in the COM
connector. He is trying to log in and log off multiple times from the
same Axapta, using the same COM object, and even creating a new COM
object, from C#:

BTW: It is 3.0SP3.

Jesper,

Anyway to get your buddy's in Denmark to comment about this error:

SQL error : SQL has reported the following error:\n\n[Microsoft][ODBC
Driver Manager] Connection in use. Connect information was: Userid =
[bmssa], Database = [AXDB], Server = [DEV02], DSN = [Axapta 3.0], Other
= []\n\nYou may refer to the error log file for further
details.\n\nRetry the operation? Please restart the Microsoft Axapta
Business Connector before logging on.

It's annoying now because I need to allow the user (i.e. really the
admin) to login as different users...but I still keep getting this
message after a successful logoff...but I do not set the C# object to
null...just leave it around for other requests...to login using the
Logon2 method.

Thanks.. Using Com+ i resolved the r6025 error problem!

Now I've this kind of problem.. I've got only one com connector license.

If I use the following code:

 ax.Logon(login, , , config);

 ax.Logoff();

 Marshal.ReleaseComObject(ax);

 ax = new AxaptaClass();

 ax.Logon(newlogin, , ,  config );

 ax.Logoff();

I've got an exception that tells me that I've not got enough license
rights..

Any idea about releasing the first connection?

Thanks, Alessandro

If you register the COM with the configuration utility you must only use
Register COM+.

Now the COM is registered in the component services (control
panel/administrative tools). Here you can change any properties for the COM+

RE: [development-axapta] Re: DAT company

2004-10-22 Thread Steve Wright

Hi James

Checkout Technet discussion below, I have raised this very question...

Contribution 10888.5 from Niels Moeller [MSFT], Denmark:

Dont try to delete the DAT company

It would not be a good idea to delete the DAT company since Axapta is using
informations that only are in the DAT company. So since the DAT company is
vital for Axapta, Axapta creates a DAT company if it can not find the in the
DAT company in the data file.
By the way you cant delete the DAT company from Axapta.

The DAT company is Axapta is special, it holds all of the non-company things
like Logins etc. Ever considered what would happen if you click on the
Duplicate button on the Company Accounts form?

I'm still pretty much a SQL novice. I was wondering if anyone might
be able to help me figure out what is probably a simple thing - hard
to say.

I'm trying to find out what forms, reports, etc have been used in an
Axapta installation, using the SysLastValue table. I notice it
doesn't show up in the AOT. I've been using the SQL Query Analyzer.

I only want rows where a combination of two fields is unique - those
fields are recordtype and elementname. There can be many records with
the same recordtype and elementname but I only want to grab one
occurance - I guess the first. For example there could be dozens of
records with recordtype '11' and elementname 'SysQueryForm' - I only
want one in the results.

Below is the query I'm using to get all the records.

select recordtype, elementname, userid, company from syslastvalue
where company = 'mm' ORDER BY recordtype, recordtype;

RE: [development-axapta] How to protect our source code

2004-07-07 Thread Steve Wright

The BUS layer has the ability to protect source code, however this is not
the Axapta way.

Axapta has always been open source..can you image how great it is to be able
to fix Axapta bugs. Once you start protecting and hiding source code then
this ability is removed. This is one of the reasons why Axapta is so much
better than those old tired products like Great Plains.

Subject: [development-axapta] How to protect our source code

hi all,
We're in a joint development with some contractors to create some new
modules in Axapta. We develop our codes in usr layer and don't want
our contractors to see some modules that got nothing to do with them.
Is there a way to protect our source code from them, so that they
cannot see our source codes at all? Any feedback will be highly
appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I am sure there is no single place for you to check.

However, a lot of journals are covered by the LedgerJournalEngine class

LedgerJournalEngine_CustPayment
LedgerJournalEngine_VendInvoice
LedgerJournalEngine_VenPayment any many more.

Given Sales Invoice and Purchase invoice post to completely different tables

Hello Guys,

I have raised this query once before also but failed to get any responses. I
am repeating that as it is very important.

I want to know if there any place where i can find which class is getting
executed.

In more detailed manner i am looking for the type of posting that is in the
process.

Suppose somebody is performing sales invoice and other user is running
puchase invoice on other hand then i should be able to catch both tasks at a
single place.

If query is not clear then pls do not hesitate to ask.

Axapta has no archive functionality - no way of deleting posted

Atlas xl can only really be of help to build a new company in Axapta where

RE: [development-axapta] Relation with LedgerJournalTrans and Led gerTrans

2004-05-24 Thread Steve Wright

Anil

You will not be able to find an exact match. One LedgerJournalTrans record
can create multiple LedgerTrans records. It depends on the account type.

For example, a vendor invoice and assuming 10% tax:

Credit Vendor ABC01 for $100 excluding tax
Debit Expense 100102 for $100 excluding tax

When you post this you will most likely see in LedgerTrans

Vendors Control Account - $110 ( $100 + $10 tax)
Expense Account 100102 for $100
Tax Account xxx for $10

Depending upon posting profiles you may also see transactions created in
LedgerTrans to go in and out of various accounts. Another example is if
automatic allocations/splits have been set up against the expense account
(maybe a %age for each Department dimension) then again you will see many
transactions in LedgerTrans - one per department.

In this example you will also find an entry in VendTrans (for the $110) and
an entry is VendTransOpen as the invoice is unpaid. The only thing in
common to them all is voucher number.

SO as you can see there is no exact relationship besides a given voucher
number in LedgerJournalTrans generating an unknown number of transactions in
LedgerTrans.

Regards
Steve

LedgerJournalTrans is the table that holds most journal entries. When
you
post a journal ledgertrans records are created from LedgerJournalTrans.

You can link the 2 via JournalNum or Voucher. One journal line
(ledgerjournaltrans) will create a minimum of 2 Ledgertrans records -
one

[development-axapta] Auto LogOn
I'm trying to start a form directly by using the -startupcmd and
-user parameters in the configuration. This works well but the logon
halts by the logon prompt. Hence I must click the logon button. Is it
possible to start directly without the logon prompt?

RE: [development-axapta] Importing General Ledger / General Journ al

2004-04-20 Thread Steve Wright

"Load Ledger Transactions" or "Load lines" is used to
create a new journal based upon an already posted one. All journal
lines have to be "Ledger", ie no Customers, Vendors, Assets, Projects etc in
order for this to work.

You are given options about how to generate new voucher
numbers, such as a new voucher for each

This is no good if the amounts in each journal line can be
different or if the number of lines in the journal can be different each
month.

Regards,
Steve

There
is a 'load lines' (or load something but cant remember off hand and no Ax with
me right now) in the functions button in general ledger
right?
Not
sure the format it uses or how it addresses voucher number
etc...

You would have to develop a import periodic routine
(maybe run inbatch job)to pick up the
  spreadsheet.

A couple of harder questions...How would the
spreadsheet deal with number sequences like Journal and Voucher Numbers, and
deal with any validation issues before you import the
  spreadsheet?

A solution already exists that integrates Excel and
  Axapta, www.atlasxl.com.au can
validate and post General Ledger journals from Excel through the Axapta COM
Client. The Accountantsuse Atlas to preparethe
spreadsheet, get the results into Axapta fully validated and then finally
  post.

RE: [development-axapta] AOC File

2004-04-20 Thread Steve Wright

The .aoc files are cache files for Axapta. You will
see your Axapta userid is a part of each filename as well as the AOS you are
connecting to.

Axapta will cache menus, forms etc whenever you run
Axapta. This is for performance in a wan situation where you don't
want to download static forms all of the time. If you are running Axapta
via your localnetwork then you should be able to remove these files BUT I
am unsure how you can tell Axapta to stop creating them.

Also, if you log onto Axapta and select Tools Options
you will see a tab page where you can state what tables are to be cached as
well. Maybe you have some tables in this list that are constanrtly
changing (so don't cache them).

File

Hi
all,

There are several
*.aoc file residing in my C:\Documents and Settings\user\Local
Settings\Application Data folder. I notice it grows everytime I log off from
axapta. Do you have any idea what it is and how I can prevent axapta from
creating these files? It is occupying alot of unecessary hard disk space.

TIA,
Charles
