RE: [development-axapta] how to delete a table in AXAPTA?
You cannot remove the table from the AOT as this would create compile errors (as the table does not exist). If you are not licensed to use this table - you don't have the production modules as an example - then the Synchronise facility in Axapta will drop the table from SQL. If you are licensed to use the table then the sync utility will create the table in SQL. Axapta has been designed so that you do all maintenace within Axapta, you do not need to use SQL Enterprise Manager to create/drop tables. This is all managed for you by Axapta. RE: [development-axapta] Re-take-on
Hi Matt You could try the following... - Create a new Data Import/Export group and ensure you do not tick Transaction and Worksheet types tables. If you then export your company it should only be setup data - no transactions at all. - Import into a new company - Reset number sequences if you wish - Use a product like Atlas xl (www.atlasxl.com.au http://www.atlasxl.com.au ) to extract balances from your old company into a spreadsheet, then use Atlas to send a journal back to Axapta using the figures extracted from the old company. Atlas xl fully supports Axapta number sequences and provides validation of the journal from Excel. I suggest a journal per accounting period, it's a bit easier to reconcile. - You may struggle to get the line item per customer per GL account if it's not available from your GL. In some our implementations we changed the transaction text to identify the customer, or use one of Axaptas dimensions to hold the customer account, this way the customer is always available when you look at a GL transaction. Best of luck Steve. _ From: Matt Benic [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Tuesday, 1 February 2005 8:32 PM To: Axapta Dev Subject: [development-axapta] Re-take-on Hi all, We are preparing for the rather drastic measure of dropping all transactional data and doing a fresh takeon with figures calculated from this transaction data. We will keep our 'old' data available on a separate system, but our day-to-day processing will happen on this new 'clean' data. Has anyone tried this before and do you have any suggestions? Can anyone give me an idea of what data can safely be dropped? We basically want to drop all transaction data and create a new transaction per-customer with a line item per-customer per gl account used, totalling all transactions that would fit that description. What sort of impact will this have on other tables? I have been digging around frantically trying to map out Axapta's tangled mess of a database and the deeper I get, the more lost I get! RE: [development-axapta] Re: DAT company
Hi James Checkout Technet discussion below, I have raised this very question... Contribution 10888.5 from Niels Moeller [MSFT], Denmark: Dont try to delete the DAT company It would not be a good idea to delete the DAT company since Axapta is using informations that only are in the DAT company. So since the DAT company is vital for Axapta, Axapta creates a DAT company if it can not find the in the DAT company in the data file. By the way you cant delete the DAT company from Axapta. The DAT company is Axapta is special, it holds all of the non-company things like Logins etc. Ever considered what would happen if you click on the Duplicate button on the Company Accounts form? I was wondering if anyone might be able to help me figure out what is probably a simple thing - hard to say. I'm trying to find out what forms, reports, etc have been used in an Axapta installation, using the SysLastValue table. I notice it doesn't show up in the AOT. I've been using the SQL Query Analyzer. I only want rows where a combination of two fields is unique - those fields are recordtype and elementname. There can be many records with the same recordtype and elementname but I only want to grab one occurance - I guess the first. For example there could be dozens of records with recordtype '11' and elementname 'SysQueryForm' - I only want one in the results. Below is the query I'm using to get all the records. select recordtype, elementname, userid, company from syslastvalue where company = 'mm' ORDER BY recordtype, recordtype; Yahoo! RE: [development-axapta] Re: Data Archive
Hi Philip Axapta has no archive functionality - no way of deleting posted transactions. RE: [development-axapta] Relation with LedgerJournalTrans and Led gerTrans
Anil You will not be able to find an exact match. One LedgerJournalTrans record can create multiple LedgerTrans records. It depends on the account type. For example, a vendor invoice and assuming 10% tax: Credit Vendor ABC01 for $100 excluding tax Debit Expense 100102 for $100 excluding tax When you post this you will most likely see in LedgerTrans Vendors Control Account - $110 ( $100 + $10 tax) Expense Account 100102 for $100 Tax Account xxx for $10 Depending upon posting profiles you may also see transactions created in LedgerTrans to go in and out of various accounts. Another example is if automatic allocations/splits have been set up against the expense account (maybe a %age for each Department dimension) then again you will see many transactions in LedgerTrans - one per department. In this example you will also find an entry in VendTrans (for the $110) and an entry is VendTransOpen as the invoice is unpaid. The only thing in common to them all is voucher number. SO as you can see there is no exact relationship besides a given voucher number in LedgerJournalTrans generating an unknown number of transactions in LedgerTrans. RE: [development-axapta] Importing General Ledger / General Journ al
"Load Ledger Transactions" or "Load lines" is used to create a new journal based upon an already posted one. All journal lines have to be "Ledger", ie no Customers, Vendors, Assets, Projects etc in order for this to work. You are given options about how to generate new voucher numbers, such as a new voucher for each This is no good if the amounts in each journal line can be different or if the number of lines in the journal can be different each month. RE: [development-axapta] AOC File
The .aoc files are cache files for Axapta. You will see your Axapta userid is a part of each filename as well as the AOS you are connecting to. Axapta will cache menus, forms etc whenever you run Axapta. This is for performance in a wan situation where you don't want to download static forms all of the time. If you are running Axapta via your localnetwork then you should be able to remove these files BUT I am unsure how you can tell Axapta to stop creating them. Also, if you log onto Axapta and select Tools Options you will see a tab page where you can state what tables are to be cached as well. Maybe you have some tables in this list that are constanrtly changing (so don't cache them).
