I was thinking that you would always show all selected data elements and
indicators together on the same dimension/chart position.

Although I agree that it can be useful to quickly switch between already
selected data elements and indicators, I think it will be even more useful
to be able to show them both at the same time, especially now that we treat
calculated data elements as indicators (many indicators are counts just
like data elements).

Re: [Dhis2-devs] [Dhis2-users] Data visualizer module feedback

2011-11-10 Thread Ola Hodne Titlestad
Hi Jan,

Some new requests from Kenya:

1) Option to put values on the bars in the chart.

2) Option to switch from colour scheme to a pattern scheme (e.g. dots,
vertical lines, horizontal lines etc.) to distinguish between bars in a
chart when printing in black&white mode.

3) Would it be possible to combine indicator and data element into one
object/option in the drop downs for Series, Category, Filter (top of the
page)? This makes sense as you never do a chart with indicators as Category
and data element as Filter or Series. Now the tool complains with "Form is
not complete" if you select a few data elements and no indicators, and
forget to switch from Indicator to Data Element on e.g. the Series.
Seems unnecessary to force the user to do this switch.

4) Generally the users are happy with this and really appreciate the
possibility of creating and manipulating their own charts. And although
screenshots are always possible they almost can't wait to see the "save as
image" button on the next release

Good work, keep it up!

Ola

Improved notifications is already on the 2.6 roadmap. In trunk the "Form is not
complete" is replaced by something a bit more informative, like "No indicators
selected", "No data elements selected" etc, but this will definitely be
improved further.

Re: [Dhis2-devs] [Dhis2-users] Data visualizer module feedback

2011-11-04 Thread John Ojo
Hi Lars,

The data visualizer looks great. Would like to suggest the following:

1. Please kindly remove the data visualizer from among the options for Start
page under the Appearance settings page. This is because,
like we had in the past with the GIS module, the data visualiser loops back
to itself and effectively locks the user out from being able to     exit from
the data visualizer once it is selected as the start page. You may try it and
see.

2. Ability to insert charts drawn in the data visualizer into the dashboard.

3. Chart Title (and may be sub-title) for the data visualizer charts.

4. The Chart Type buttons/icons on the top-left portion of the data visualizer
window don't seem to do anything. Would like to see the
Example chart change to reflect the user's choice when any of the chart
type icons is selected.

5. The message in the information box eg. 'No data values',  'Form is not
complete', that appears when one clicks the Update button
is too short (and cryptic). We should consider adding more details as to
what the user should do to get the visualizer display the chart
    depending on the circumstance.

These are the few that readily comes to mind. May add more as I take the data
visualizer through much deeper tests.
Thank you so much to all the developers for making our lives easier with DHIS2.

Subject: [Dhis2-users] Data visualizer module feedback

Hi all,

now that you have had some time to get familiar with the new data
visualizer module we are interested in getting feedback and
suggestions for improvements based on real use-cases.

You can explore the module here:

http://apps.dhis2.org/demo/dhis-web-visualizer/app/index.html

So far through various channels we have received the following:

1. Integrated table of data listing what is currently displayed in the
chart (already implemented in trunk).

2. Saved chart views which can later be easily re-visited.

3. Export of chart views to PNG for download.

We encourage you to suggest new features accompanied with an
explanation why it will be useful for you.

best regards,

Lars
