[digitalradio] A sad loss to ham radio

2009-04-05 Thread g3vfp
Hi guys

I beg your indulgence as it has nothing to do with digital modes although for
some time he was a staunch supporter of them, and gave assistance to many.

It concerns the sad loss of Glenn Wetherell W3GWW of Aberdeen MA. A very dear
friend whom I have had the privilege to have known for many years. He died on
Saturday 4th April losing his battle following successful cancer treatment, but
then falling with pneumonia.

May he rest in peace.

Thank you for your time and patience. Anyone may mail me direct if they have
any questions to ask, as it was not my intent to cause a lengthy thread on the
subject despite being a personal loss.

Dave G3VFP.

[digitalradio] Airlink Express Update

2009-02-03 Thread g3vfp
Hi guys

just a quickie to say that Alex KR1ST is about to release version
1.7.1.3. Developed from the ground up for Vista, and of course
compatability with XP etc this is a very good basic software and
worthy of recognitionin my humble opinion :-).

This version of Airlink Express is a complete rewrite of the
application in
C#.

Added:

- TX/RX switching through CAT commands for all supported radios
(this eliminates the need for a separate comport and interface for
PTT)
- RTS Handshake option for FT-2000/9000/950/450
- CAT support for FT-2000/FT-950/FT-450/FTdx9000 support
- CAT support for Elecraft K2 and K3
- CAT support for Kenwood radios
- TX/RX window clear button on the toolbar
- option to show the tone frequency or actual RF frequency (if CAT
turned
on) on the
waterfall and spectrum view
- checkmark next to the callsign field that will indicate if you have
worked
a station before
- partial log export
- option to use left, right or both channels on the input

Fixed:

- small logging error when an empty entry gets deleted
- audio issues on certain Compaq laptops that have no electronic
volume
control (no mixer
elements)
- exporting complex callsigns
- when a comport gets removed from a computer dynamically (or in
between
sessions) the
program will resort to a comport setting of None
- same for comport settings in rig control
- switching between letters and figures in FSK mode

Changed:

- change the default RST to something else than 599
- log window can now stay open continuously
- the repeat interval so one can never enter a blank interval time
- refined automatic callsign recognition
- the position of the seperation bar between the RX and TX window and
between the
waterfall and spectrum view will now be saved between sessions

Hope you enjoy.

Cheers

[digitalradio] Subnotebooks

2006-02-10 Thread g3vfp
This is not a topic for digitalradio in particular, but to the use of
a particular piece of equipment to serve it's purpose.

Please do not follow this thread in the group.

There maybe members interested in joining a new group dedicated to
subnotebook ps's for ham radio. Here is the address if you wish to
join in.
