[steering-discuss] Thousands of donors contribute €50,000 in just eight days to The Document Foundation
Thousands of donors contribute €50,000 in just eight days to The Document Foundation LibreOffice Community accomplishes next major milestone Ongoing donations to support marketing, infrastructure and development The Community around LibreOffice, the free personal productivity suite, has accomplished the next major milestone in establishing The Document Foundation as a legal entity. In just eight days, some 2,000 donors from all over the world contributed €50,000 for the capital stock necessary to set-up the legal entity in Germany. We still can't believe it, says Florian Effenberger, Steering Committee member. It happened in such a short period of time and was beyond our wildest expectations. You all really rock! On behalf of the Community, the Steering Committee would like to thank all the donors for their generous support. The €50,000 collected will form the Foundation's paid-up capital, ensuring a permanent future for the organization after the legal paperwork is complete, based in Germany. The capital will be frozen assets for the Foundation: the funds cannot be spent, and we will be able to avail just the annual interest. All money donated from now on will actually bankroll our ongoing running costs for things such as marketing, hardware, infrastructure, attending trade shows, initial financing of merchandising material and, of course, developing new and exciting ideas. So we still need your support: Every donation helps to pay for our future operational running, Effenberger adds. Details on how to donate to The Document Foundation and how the money will be spent are available at http://challenge.documentfoundation.org Information about LibreOffice can be found at http://www.libreoffice.org The home of The Document Foundation is at http://www.documentfoundation.org About The Document Foundation The Document Foundation has the mission of facilitating the evolution of the LibreOffice community into a new, open, independent, and meritocratic organization over the next few months. An independent Foundation is a better reflection of the values of our contributors, users and supporters, and will enable a more effective, efficient and transparent community. TDF will protect past investments by building on the achievements of the first decade, will encourage wide participation within the community, and will co-ordinate activity across the community. Re: [tdf-discuss] CALC-Unintended DATE formatting
2011/2/25 OBUTEX/Hladůvka ad...@obutex.com: In both versions 3.3. and 3.3.1 in Calc when I enter text e.g. I1 into an empty cell it is changed to 1.1.2001 and it is not possible to change it untill 'I1 entered. It is a feature of Calc. It works with abbreviated month and day names as defined in the locale file. It is http://opengrok.libreoffice.org/xref/libs-gui/i18npool/source/localedata/data/cs_CZ.xml for Czech. So I1 means January 1st. I get 1.1.2011 by the way, maybe you have just mistyped it in your e-mail. I don't know what it is good for. If you want this feature to be removed, please file a bug. Re: [tdf-discuss] Thank you for using OpenOffice.org
Hi Rainer, Cor, Am 25.02.2011 06:13, schrieb Rainer Bielefeld: Cor Nouws schrieb: I have never seen that effect. Hi, I also can't remember. Did anyone check whether that message also shows up when you repair the installation? Now I done two things: I repaired the installation first and second I changed it by installling the testtools. Neither by repairing nor by changing there is the website displayed. After that I deinstalled LibreOffice and installed it. And I got the message again. As I see the intialization will be before the installation of the AddOns. I believe in the custom installation somewhere is a selection to deactivate check for updates. I didn't see any of such a selection. Did someone check whether that has an influence? May be someone can attach a screenshot to a new Bug report? I hope I can do the bug report on the weekend. If someone else can do it, I have a screenshot and can add it. -- Grüße k-j -- Unsubscribe instructions: E-mail to discuss+h...@documentfoundation.org Archive: http://listarchives.documentfoundation.org/www/discuss/ *** All posts to this list are publicly archived for eternity ***

[tdf-discuss] Addition of New Features
I am a great fan of *Document Foundation. *I use LibreOffice for my regular office work. I was going through the features of LibreOffice and I felt the need of a new innovative features that can change the view of a office suit. Firstly i was not able to save a single page (LibreOffice Writer) say for eg. page no. 13 as a individual .ODT file. When i clicked File - Save As to save page no 13 to a different location the whole document from page 1 to 20 use to get saved. I this case *File - Save Page No. 13 or **File - Save Page No. 13,18, 20*.in a single .ODT file could have done my work easy. ** Secondly Use of *Remote viewing editing and printing* with the help of build in server like Ultra VNC can easily put LibreOffice a step ahead of Openoffice. I expect this two features in next release. [tdf-discuss] Ping Florian - StartCom Certs
Florian, you need to update the new StartCom Certs to include libreoffice.org. www.libreoffice.org uses an invalid security certificate. The certificate is only valid for the following names: *.documentfoundation.org , documentfoundation.org (Error code: ssl_error_bad_cert_domain) -- Unsubscribe instructions: E-mail to discuss+h...@documentfoundation.org Archive: http://listarchives.documentfoundation.org/www/discuss/ *** All posts to this list are publicly archived for eternity ***

[tdf-discuss] Re: Setup Advice
On 02/21/2011 02:16 PM, Mark Preston wrote: I'm about ready to load up LibreOffice and start running it for work but have really one simple question before I do. Background is I will be running it on Windows Vista, currently run OpenOffice and will be using it near daily including with MS Office documents and presentations. So the question is: can I load LibO side-by-side with OpenOffice and if not what is the procedure to load LibO and - should there be probelms - to reload OpenOffice? Most importantly, this is a multi-user system so it needs to be loaded for at least three users. Any advice much appreciated. It's an issue: http://www.libreoffice.org/download/release-notes/ quote For Windows users that have OpenOffice.org installed, we advise uninstalling that beforehand, because it registers the same file type associations. /quote The issue is that LO uses the same executables as OOo (swriter, etc) and hasn't yet cleaned up the code to use something else (lowriter, etc). This can cause *considerable* issues with OOo and LO coexisting on the same Windows system. If you want to have both installed (on Windows - it's no issue on linux) at the same time, then I'd suggest installing 'in parallel', see: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Installing_in_parallel http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Run_OOo_versions_parallel#Windows So at this point (on Windows) you are better off with either/or: OOo or LO, but not both at the same time. -- Unsubscribe instructions: E-mail to discuss+h...@documentfoundation.org Archive: http://listarchives.documentfoundation.org/www/discuss/ *** All posts to this list are publicly archived for eternity ***
