[steering-discuss] on managing confcall rooms

2011-08-24 Thread Florian Effenberger

Hello,

since I'm not available for today's call (Christoph will step in),
here's a short information on how to manage the room:

- Someone needs to dial-in with the room number and the conference
manager PIN to open up the room. It's room number and conference manager
PIN as one number, followed by # - as usual

- The first conference manager is then asked if the participants should
be allowed to speak or not. 1 = not speaking, 3 = speaking. You want to
press 3 to allow everyone to speak. :-)

- *9 will lock the room, so no new parties can join, *7 will mute all
participants. You don't need any of these. However, in case you are
experiencing issues, like people unable to speak or join, press the
according keys again to undo the function (e.g. *9 a second time will
unlock the room again, *7 a second time will unmute everyone).

Hi Gary, *,

You've found YALOB (Yet Another LO Bug); of which there seem to more
more of every day oddly enough with previous OOo files.

And there will be more of them, no doubt.
It was well known, and repeatedly written by OpenOffice.org developers,
that fixing one bug would probably bring one or more others to the
surface. One of the reasons that many especially older bugs remained
untouched.

Now that the LibreOffice developers actually took the challenge to start
improving old structures, oddities, bugs in the code (to improve, make
developing and building easier), it is unavoidable that there will
emerge bugs, often previously hidden.

So indeed there will be moments that an older version will be needed to
open a document...

On the other hand, as far as I see the challenge is taken seriously.
See for example this issue:
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=39510
Fixing it asked for quite some research and discussion, but they did it.

Thus, how nasty the very situation is: reporting these problems is
important.
I don't know if there already exists an issue for this specific problem.
I hope to have more time to look at it later today. ANd if not, tomorrow
afternoon.

[tdf-discuss] how change macro security level?

2011-08-24 Thread Terrence Enger
Greetings,

I find that I am unable to run macros: the dialog box
presented by Tools Options LibreOffice Security offers
a button labelled Macro Security..., and the button
responds to a mouse click by showing itself depressed and
taking focus, but that is all that happens. In particular,
this does not call up the dialog box that I expected.

Is there something I need to know about macro security?
OTOH, am I alone in this situation?

I am on ubuntu-natty (11.04), running a local build from
master, commit id aa51fd4; my autogen options are ...
--disable-mozilla
--enable-symbols
--enable-dbgutil
--enable-crashdump
--disable-build-mozilla
--without-junit

Thank you, all, for your attention.

Terry.

In the build from master (Build ID: 117281b-4eb4f62-260b7c1), on Ubuntu
too, that I have, Macro security works fine.

No idea if the problem is a local one (your build) an older or newer
version than I have, or...

In general, IMO if you build and test on the master, best for questions
is IRC #libreoffice-dev.

[tdf-discuss] Advice

2011-08-24 Thread Robert Boehm
Hi...no problems...just asking for advice. I have been testing the beta
builds of LO since it came out and
use openSUSE as my main operating system. On my production machine, I
have been using the Stable
builds provided by the SUSE repository which has worked fine. If there
any SUSE development people who

monitor this list, I hope that they chime in.

It seems as if the stable repository is ULTRA conservative...as I wait
for updates to the latest stable branch,
they are still pushing version 3.3.3. I have had no trouble at all with
version 3.4.2. 3.4.3 is already in RC status...
why the delay? So...my question is this: With absolutely no trouble
using the vanilla builds...I am thinking of

going to the LO vanilla latest stable builds.

What advantages does the SUSE builds (on SUSE) have over the vanilla
builds, if any? I am not too worried
about desktop integration, as it seems as if the vanilla builds
integrate and work fine (and look good too)

Sorry if this is a bother and cluttering the list, but I just want some
advice from those out there...and/or any
word from the SUSE people what their master plan is with the stable
repository. The UNSTABLE is still
pushing 3.4.2 as if it's cutting edge...while 3.4.3 is already out
there. Of course, on my production environment,
I will be only using a stable build anyway...but I want to move forward
faster than the SUSE repository is

Thanks..

Bob,

You really need to be asking the SUSE people about this. Each distro
has their own release requirements that the LibO devs have no control
over. I know with Ubuntu unless there is a security problem that needs
to be fixed they do not update till the next release.

Thanks, AndyI am going to the SUSE people too, but I just wanted

Hi. I use 3.3.4 from the LO site on my Suse boxes in the office and have
never had problems. On my laptop that is not essential I use 3.4.1 to
follow the more advanced changes, generally without problem. I also have
OOO3.2.1 on the office Suse boxes as sometimes I need to go backwards to
open a document correctly. There were a couple of quirks I found to
installing the LO RPMs on my Suse.

Does *not* open properly in *any* LO versions that I currently have
