Re: [tdf-discuss] Re: [QA] Opening a .doc file - Regression in Libreoffice 3.4 ???
Hi Gary, *, NoOp wrote (24-08-11 05:17) You've found YALOB (Yet Another LO Bug); of which there seem to more more of every day oddly enough with previous OOo files. And there will be more of them, no doubt. It was well known, and repeatedly written by OpenOffice.org developers, that fixing one bug would probably bring one or more others to the surface. One of the reasons that many especially older bugs remained untouched. Now that the LibreOffice developers actually took the challenge to start improving old structures, oddities, bugs in the code (to improve, make developing and building easier), it is unavoidable that there will emerge bugs, often previously hidden. So indeed there will be moments that an older version will be needed to open a document... On the other hand, as far as I see the challenge is taken seriously. See for example this issue: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=39510 Fixing it asked for quite some research and discussion, but they did it. Thus, how nasty the very situation is: reporting these problems is important. I don't know if there already exists an issue for this specific problem. I hope to have more time to look at it later today. ANd if not, tomorrow afternoon.
