Re: [jQuery] jqUploader development: conception question

2007-02-19 Thread Alex Cook
From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Alexandre

Subject: [jQuery] jqUploader development: conception question

hello,

i'm (still) working on my plugin that is meant to replace a given file input
field by a richer flash upload dialog.

you can view it here: http://www.pixeline.be/test/jquery/jqUploader/index.html

The reason why i can't get myself to release this as a proper jquery plugin, is
that it fails to be completely unobtrusive.

Indeed, if it would, it should use the form "action" attribute value as upload
script, whereas for the moment it uses a specific script for upload via flash.

But i can't seem to find a proper way to make this.

I would like to hear what you guys think about this: what would be the proper
way to make this unobtrusive?

Thanks,

Alexandre

-

I'm confused, what do you mean by proper way to do this? It seems like you
could easily pass the form action into the o[tions object... is the problem
with the Flash file? I'd love to help I'm just not sure where you need it.
Give me a few more details and I'll see if I can chip in.

-ALEX

Re: [jQuery] collapsible menus ~ pixel carnage

2007-02-19 Thread fatjoez

Hey.

Dont worry about my code ay.

All I'm basically asking is that in reference to the code pixel carnage
provides as an example on his site, is it possible to modify this so that on
the same Line as the Menu link which opens/closes a sub menu, is it possible
also to add a LINK to an actual page also.

So that instead of it being like

[clikToToggleMenu]Menu1[/click]
sub menu link 1
sub menu link 2

INSTEAD to have it like this

[clikToToggleMenu]Show/Hide[/click]   [link]Menu1[/link]
sub menu link 1
sub menu link 2

Do you understand what I mean? So I want to have like a + / - symbol to
expand collapse the menu and on the SAME line to have a link to another
menu. Basically so I can show the link to the Parent category also!

Yes, it's possible - I do it all the time. The benefit of this approach is that
if you allow client-side sorting, filtering, column hiding, etc, the user can
download exactly what they see because the manipulated client-side table is
exactly what they want.

The problem is it can't be done _purely_ client-side, because there is no way
for js to generate a document of a specific mime type. Because of this, you
need to write a simple server-side component in your language of choice that
accepts a form value containing content to echo back. It slaps the excel mime
type on it and returns it as-is, and the user's browser (hopefully) opens excel
to handle the response.

My solution is for an IE-only webapp, so the code isn't very cross-browser, but
I suppose you could generalize the approach. I do these steps:

1) Get the outerHTML of the table
2) Create a hidden iframe and write out the table as part of it
3) Get a reference to the new table and manipulate it using standard dom to
clean it into something that excel will like. For example,
  a) Convert text inputs into plain text
  b) Convert checkboxes into an "X" if checked, else blank
  c) Convert select lists into their selected option's visible text
  d) Convert links to plain text
  e) Replace images with their [alt] text
  f) Make sure borders are on
  g) Put nowrap on every cell
  h) etc...
4) Get the outerHTML of the resulting table and set it into a textarea in the
iframe
5) Submit the iframe form to the server, which echoes back the submitted
content with the excel mime type

It all happens very quickly and the resulting Excel output matches exactly to
what the user sees on screen. Depending on your data, you may need to scrub
your tables more to get dates in the right formats that excel will parse
correctly or to remove other markup that will ugly up the excel.

Once written, though, it becomes pretty reusable on almost any table with very
good results.

With the power of jQuery, I imagine that 'cleaning' the table would be
extremely trivial and the resulting js file would be pretty small. I would add
it to my general table library (which I'm going to release as a jQuery plugin
soon) but since it requires a server-side component I think it needs to be
separate.

Hope that helps!

Matt

jQuery.clean takes array-like collections, so this should work as well:

jQuery.fn.wrapInner = function(html){

jQuery(html).append(this.childNodes).appendTo(this);
  });
};

It seems like this would be a better solution:

jQuery.fn.wrapInner = function(html){
  return this.each(function(){
 var wrap = $(html);
 while ( this.firstChild )
   wrap.append( this.firstChild );
 wrap.appendTo( this );
  });
};

no need for a filter, and you don't lose your events. You can use it like
this:

$("p").wrapInner("");

Re: [jQuery] tables - is this possible ?

2007-02-19 Thread Matt Stith

I would try something like:

$("table").each(function() { // Loop through each table
   $(this).find("> td").each(function() { // Loop through each TD in the
table
   $(this).find("> tr").each(function() { // Loop through each TR in
the TD
   // do something with the data
   });
   });
});

Im not sure what the format of an excel file is, but you should be able to
build on that. You said you have 'basic' JS skills, I would think that this
would be a more advanced job, but you can try it out.

I have replaced the following:
$(_o.trigger).bind("click",{'s':s},function(e) {
   return (!hash[e.data.s]['active'])?$.jqm.open(hash[e.data.s],this):false;});
// sending the hash instead of it's index

open:function(mh,trig){ // using the hash directly
   var h=mh; h.t=trig;
   var c=h.c; h.cc='.'+c.closeClass;
   var z=c.zIndex; if (c.focus) z+=10; if (c.overlay == 0) z-=5;
   if(!$.isFunction(h.q)) h.q=function(){return $.jqm.close(mh)};
   h['active']=true;

close:function(mh){var h=mh; h['active'] = false;

Now, I'm new to javascript and to jQuery, and I don't know if the solution
is optimal, but it worked for me.

Still have to work with some call back issues, but I think I just saw

[jQuery] Validation plugin 1.0 alpha 2

2007-02-19 Thread Jörn Zaefferer

Hi folks,

thanks again for the feedback on the alpha 1 release! It helped a lot to
push some more improvements:

http://bassistance.de/jquery-plugins/jquery-plugin-validation/

Some notable changes:

   * Streamlined API for support of different events. The default,
 submit, can be disabled. If any event is specified, that is
 applied to each element (instead of the entire form). Combining
 keyup-validation with submit-validation is now extremely easy to setup
   * Added support for one-message-per-rule when defining messages via
 plugin settings
   * Removed id-requirement: If an element has no id, it is generated
 by combining the form's id with the element's name
   * Added support to wrap metadata in some parent element. Useful when
 metadata is used for other plugins, too.
   * Refactored tests and demos: Less files, better demos
   * Improved documentation: More examples for methods, more reference
 texts explaining some basics

I think almost all of the things that Aaron Heimlich proposed are
covered... thanks Aaron!

The "bug" in IE was merely a problem of the testsuite and is now solved.
There are still two problems in Opera which I could both track down but
not yet solve.

The new demos show some of the new features, checkout the second form on
the first page:
http://jquery.bassistance.de/validate/demo-test/validate-demo.html

Again, I'd appreciate your feedback!

On that line:
Could someone please test on Safari? Start with the testsuite:
http://jquery.bassistance.de/validate/demo-test/ValidationTest.html

I'm also interested in examples of some great form validation setups.
This one (http://rememberthemilk.com/signup/) was a great inspiration,
if you know of any other good examples, let me know them!

next step to allowing the little guys to provide an AJAX Office

Dustin,

 Nice addition. I am considering adding something like this to the
base.. but there do exist two alternative methods -- a) using a $.load()
with a callback in the onOpen function && b) including script in the
remote response -- e.g. using the example above, include;

$('#my_button').bind("click", my_handler);

in some_url.

  Keep in mind that jqModal strives to stay on a diet.. do you still see
the onLoad callback as an essential?

Re: [jQuery] wrapinner with 1.1.1

2007-02-19 Thread Oliver Boermans
Tidy! Thanks John.
While that is suits my particular purpose nicely, I'm curious, how
would you to change it to insert the to-be-wrapped content into the
_deepest_ point in the supplied HTML snippet.
Like regular wrap. eg:

Usage:
$('p').wrapInner('');

To make this:
Hello world!

Into:
Hello world!

Cheers

[jQuery] ajax and cache busting

I thought that the ajax function automatically added a unique parameter to
each request to make sure that results don't get cached.

Or was I just dreaming that?

I am using getJSON, does that make any difference?

Absolutely! Just like how Prototype gets more users everytime someone

Re: [jQuery] Smooth Scrolling for same-page links

2007-02-19 Thread [-Stash-]

This is exactly what I've been looking for as just using the following with
Interface 1.2 makes # links to other pages completely unusable:

$(document).ready(
 function()
 {
  $(document).ScrollToAnchors(630);
 }
);

But I'm afriad to say that none of this works for me :( I've been using the
whole of interface.js 1.2, not just the ScrollTo plugin, but that shouldn't
make a difference should it?

Re: [jQuery] collapsible menus ~ pixel carnage

2007-02-19 Thread fatjoez

Quite helpful.

If only you had come 1 hour earlier lol. I ditched & modified the CSS
painstakingly to mime the H3 without it's presence. PS: I didn't paste the
code properly hence the missing closing uls & lack of an within the h3 etc
etc.

My problem now is this.

If you're browsing the menu, The top level menu link is NOT just an
expand/hider. It's an actual link also. So How can I modify this such
that I can have something like this.

 # Show/Hide  cat1 Cat1

abc
abc
abc
abc

Re: [jQuery] collapsible menus ~ pixel carnage

2007-02-19 Thread Karl Swedberg

Looks like there are a few issues here.

First, the top-level isn't closed. Second, there is no "a"
element inside the h3. It's not necessary to have it for the effect,
but the code should reflect that it isn't there. Try this for the HTML:

Accessories

   sub menu links
   sub menu links
   sub menu links
   sub menu links
   sub menu links

Next, it looks like you want to initially hide the 2nd-level
elements. You can do that like this:

$('#Menu ul').hide();

No sense in using .slideUp(1) there since the "1" is referring to the
number of milliseconds. The point is, you want the set of matched
elements to be hidden when the DOM is ready.

Now, it looks like you want to use .slideToggle() to show and hide
the immediately following the h3. You can do that this way:

$('#Menu h3').click(function() {
  $(this).next('ul').slideToggle('fast');
});

You don't need to add any custom "slide" attributes. The .slideToggle
() method will slide it down if it's hidden and slide it up if it's
visible.

So, here is the code, wrapped in document.ready:

$(document).ready(function() {
  $('#Menu ul').hide();
  $('#Menu h3').click(function() {
$(this).next('ul').slideToggle('fast');
  });
});

If you really want to put an inside the , you could write the
code like this:

$(document).ready(function() {
  $('#Menu ul').hide();
  $('#Menu h3 > a').click(function() {
$(this).parent().next('ul').slideToggle('fast');
return false;
  });
});

Hope that helps.

Cheers,

Re: [jQuery] tables - is this possible ?

2007-02-19 Thread Ⓙⓐⓚⓔ
Oh come on guys...

if you collect the data and simply separate the fields by a tab, then
ajax it back to a simplistic cgi, it could save the file for a short
period of time, and the user could download the tab separated data
right into excel.

But the server side solutions might be more flexible... and my idea
would not save bandwidth.

You are better off storing the data in a data file in the first place
and using ajax to load it into the table and use the same file to
download right to excel... it would be in the cache, so it will save
bandwidth (and use less than all those table,tr,td,th tags)

Re: [jQuery] ajax error

2007-02-19 Thread Kenneth

I've had an error similar to that I believe from running AJAX code locally.
It sees my local env as 1 "domain", then trying to access an outside site
(such as my site on the net) is interpreted as cross-domain. Probably not
the case here, but thought I'd throw that out there anyways.

[jQuery] collapsible menus ~ pixel carnage

Heres the tutorial by PixelCarnage:

My code so far:

$("#Menu > li > h3 > a + ul").attr("slide", "down");

// Collapse everything but the first menu:

Apologies for not being clearer. This is the situation:
I have a table populated by a php/mysql script. I've created an excel export
option which changes the header to ms-excel and refreshes the current page
by making another call to the mysql db to fetch the data.
So I thought, the table data is already embedded in the current html page;
why make another call to the mysql db to fetch the same data again? is not
possible to use javascript to scan the current html page for and
 and create an excel file on the fly therefore saving bandwith ?

let me know your thoughts

[jQuery] jQuery and Jack Slocum's Ext

2007-02-19 Thread John Resig
Hi Everyone -

Today, we're proud to announce that the jQuery Project and Jack
Slocum's Ext Project, have partnered to integrate the amazingly
lightweight and powerful jQuery framework with Ext's awesome UI
library. This collaboration will greatly enhance the capabilities of
both projects and expand the functionality available to developers
using the jQuery JavaScript Library and the Ext UI component suite.

Specifically, the upcoming Ext 1.0 release will be able to run,
natively, on the jQuery JavaScript Library. No other libraries will be
required. The jQuery and Ext teams are actively working together to
bring this integration to the Ext codebase.

Here's some possible questions and answers (feel free to post any
others that you have here):

What prompted the collaboration?

Ext has some fantastic components - arguably, the best on the web.
jQuery has all the core functionality to support what Ext has. The
jQuery team contacted Jack Slocum with the hopes that we could work
together to add jQuery support to the Ext library, and Jack
whole-heartedly agreed. It's a win-win situation: jQuery gets some
awesome components, Ext gets a huge influx of new users.

What are the benefits for jQuery and Ext users?

jQuery users gain a huge number of expertly-designed components that
they will be able to deploy immediately. Additionally, they'll be able
to use them in a manner that better suits the jQuery philosophy (e.g.
being able to call Ext queries on sets of elements, chaining calls,
leveraging jQuery's support for true unobtrusive DOM scripting etc.)

At the same time, existing Ext users will gain the flexibility of
being able to continue to use Ext's professional-caliber components
while leveraging the lightweight, small (~19k) and powerful jQuery
framework.

How will the two teams work together?

After the first beta release of Ext 1.0, jQuery will be providing a
strike team which will work to iron out all the integration points in
Ext. At the same time, Jack will be working to isolate all the
remaining framework-specific code, making it easier for us to finish
the conversion process. All of this will be in place for Ext's final
1.0 release, which will support both Yahoo UI and jQuery.

How will support be handled?

The jQuery team will be providing support for any bugs that may only
exist in the jQuery version of Ext.

Support for Ext, itself, will continue to be handled via the Ext
forums. The Ext project will also begin offering a level of paid
support for its corporate users.

What Ext features will be included in Ext 1.0 for jQuery?

All available Ext 1.0 features are going to be supported by jQuery.

The final feature list, for Ext 1.0, is still being finalized but a
full breadth of new functionality can be expected.

When will Ext 1.0 for jQuery be available?

The final release date is still be finalized and we will make a formal
announcement on the jQuery blog, the jQuery mailing list, the Ext
project site and the Ext forums once the its ready to go.

An alpha release of Ext 1.0 was just released, but does not, yet,
include the jQuery compatibility layer.

Do any licensing issues exist?

No. jQuery's licensing will remain the same, and Ext 1.0 will be
completely open source (LGPL).

Additionally, corporations will be able to purchase an Ext support
license. This will include email support and SVN access, amongst other
features.

If you have any questions, please feel free to post them here!

This is a known issue with IE. The name and id attribute share the
same namespace. I think a fix for this would greatly decrease the
performance of selecting by ID in IE.

None-the-less could you post this over on the dev list?

[jQuery] change method on hidden fields

Hi all!

I've been sizzling a little with the change method but I can't seem to get

I have two hidden fields that gets updated by numerous links and it works
fine but the function I have tired to the onchange event is never fired.
Here is some code snippets from my code:
$(function(){

$('#hdfLocation, #hdfType').change( function(){ alert("delegates is
working");g_hdfChange = true; } )
}

Re: [jQuery] adding a class to positive and negative data cells in a table column

To select specific elements, the cool kids all use custom selectors (not
very
well documented, but see
http://docs.jquery.com/Plugins/Authoring#Using_jQuery.extend_to_extend_j
Query_itself
and
http://www.softwareunity.com/sandbox/JQueryMoreSelectors/ )

Basically, extend jQuery.expr[':'] with a string that will be evaluated
to
true if you want that item selected.
You can use the variables 'a' for the element being considered, 'm[3]'
for
whatever was in parentheses in the selector (as in the '2' in 'nth(2)'
),
'i' for the index of the element being considered, and 'r' for the whole
array of elements.

In short:
  jQuery.extend(jQuery.expr[":"], {
positive : "parseFloat($(a).text()) > 0",
negative : "parseFloat($(a).text()) < 0",
  });
does what you want.

Use it like:

$('td:negative').css('color', 'red');
$('td:positive').css('color', 'green');

[jQuery] CORE BUG: NAME attribute masquerades as ID in $('#id') selector IE6/7

2007-02-19 Thread Brice Burgess
While implementing Interface Sliders, I learned that under IE6/7 jQuery
1.1.1's ID selector ($('#uniqueID')) will return either an element with
ID of "uniqueID" or an element with a NAME of "uniqueID" -- whichever
comes first.

Firefox in unaffected, returning ONLY the element with ID of "uniqueID"

[jQuery] Rounded corners question

2007-02-19 Thread dalvarado
Hi,

Please disregard my previous post about a bug in jquery and text elements. I
wish to revise that by saying, when I include jquery, the jq-corner.js library
and then include this code

$(function(){
$('.inner').wrap('
'); $('.inner').each(function() { $(this).corner("round 5px").parent().css('padding', '1px').corner("round 6px"); }); }); the text elements within the DIV "inner" get disassociated from the parent form -- that is, when I submit the form, the elements are no longer a part of them. Here is the HTML for one of my DIVs. The text element "PM16033-1497" is getting dropped from the form. Any advice on how to overcome this problem is greatly appreciated. - Dave printer name:  customPrinter department:  Main printer model: MyManufacturer MyPrinter abcd / MyCartridge $15.00 $7.50   Qty: ___ jQuery mailing list discuss@jquery.com http://jquery.com/discuss/

Subject: [jQuery] Google's Summer of Code

Hey Everyone -

Google's Summer of Code has just opened up for 2007, and I'd
love to have
jQuery be a part of it:
http://code.google.com/soc/

If you're not familiar with how SoC works, Google pays a number
of college
students to work on an open source project for an entire summer.
This is a
great opportunity for the kids, and for the projects that
they're
supporting.

In order to be able to apply, we'd have to come up with a list
of things
that we'd like them to do. So, I'm asking you (the jQuery
community) what you think 1-3 decent coders could do for us for
a summer?

Some examples of good ideas (which should be expanded upon):
- Build or port an unobtrusive charting plugin
- Add jQuery support to a popular CMS/Framework
- Build some interactive demos for jQuery.com
- Add new functionality to Interface

We're already working on the following improvements to the web
site (so you
don't need to ask for these):
- A new plugins repository
- A new forum area
- A customizable download area

Feel free to post your suggestions - all are welcome!

[jQuery] Bug in jquery related to text elements?

2007-02-19 Thread dalvarado
Hi,

Is anyone familiar with a bug in JQuery where including the "jquery.js" library
on your page seems to disassociate text elements from their parent forms? This
is the text element I have that no longer recognizes its parent form when I
call "alert(document.getElementById('PM16033-1497').form.name);".  I get a JS
error, "document.getElementById ... .form has no properties".

Thanks, -

Re: [jQuery] wrapinner with 1.1.1

2007-02-19 Thread John Resig
It seems like this would be a better solution:

jQuery.fn.wrapInner = function(html){
  return this.each(function(){
 var wrap = $(html);
 while ( this.firstChild )
   wrap.append( this.firstChild );
 wrap.appendTo( this );
  });
};

no need for a filter, and you don't lose your events. You can use it like this:

$("p").wrapInner("");

Of course, the CSS parser for IE 6 has a terrible time dealing with
references to #id.class {} and .class1.class2 {}.
It ignores #id and .class1

There is a situation where it can be useful: If you want to select the
element with a certain ID, only if it also has a certain class.

Assuming that the ID 'foo' exists, then $('#foo.bar') returns a jQuery
object with a single element if the element has the class 'bar', but returns
an *empty* jQuery object if the element does not have that class.

Re: [jQuery] Figure out which img in a div was clicked?

2007-02-19 Thread Glen Lipka

jQuery Golden Rule: If you are using an IF statement or an ID, then there
is an easier way.

Reference:
http://docs.jquery.com/DOM/Traversing/Selectors
Use: :visible in the selector itself.
Relative pathing.
siblings()
not()
slideToggle()
http://docs.jquery.com/Effects#slideToggle.28_speed.2C_callback_.29

This is tested code and works. Looks like it does what you want.

 $(document).ready(function(){

  $("div.anirec_buttons li img").click( function() {  //bind click
functions
$("div.anirec_more:visible").not($(this).parents("div.anirec_main
").siblings("div.anirec_more")).slideUp(400); //hide everything NOT the
target

$(this).parents("div.anirec_main").siblings("div.anirec_more").slideToggle(400);
//TOGGLE the target
  } );

 });

div.anirec_buttons li img {cursor:pointer}
div.anirec_more {display:none;}

I think the code could be much shorter if I used a variable for the Target,
but I have to get to work.

Re: [jQuery] Smooth Scrolling for same-page links

2007-02-19 Thread Brandon Aaron
I believe there are some syntax errors in the version Klaus posted.
Here is a version that *should* work (untested).

$('[EMAIL PROTECTED]"#"]').bind('click', function() {
if (location.pathname != this.pathname && location.host != this.host)
return;

var target = $(this.hash);
target = target.size() && target || $('[EMAIL PROTECTED]"' +
this.hash.slice(1) +'"]');

if (target.size()) {
target.ScrollTo(400);
return false;
}
});

Also if you are using the latest jQuery you can save a line and
unnecessary binds by writing it like this:

$('[EMAIL PROTECTED]"#"]').bind('click', function() {
var target = $(this.hash);
target = target.size() && target || $('[EMAIL PROTECTED]"' +
this.hash.slice(1) + '"]')

if (target.size()) {
target.ScrollTo(400);
return false;
}
});

Data sent via ajax is encoded in UTF-8 (using JavaScript's
encodeURIComponent function). If you require a different encoding you
will need to convert it on the server (ie: before updating the db).

Re: [jQuery] jqModal and AJAX

2007-02-19 Thread Benjamin Sterling

Abdallah,
Try rebinding it, I ran this in firebug once the pages was loaded and then I
clicked on the edit link and it worked.

ran:

$("#ex1b").jqm({ajax: "@name", trigger:
"a.edit_trigger"}/*,
function(h) {
h.w.css("opacity",0.92).slideDown();},
function(h) {  refreshListing(w, o, n, r, a);
}*/
);

So, I would suggest that you put that code in your pages you are pulling in
or (assuming that is what you are already doing) do a search thru the forum
and I think someone else had a similar issue and was solved with that
answers provided.

If i send it without using javascript it works fine

Tim,

That's a case when you would use ajaxSubmit instead of ajaxForm
because you want to submit the form in response to the anchor's click
event (instead of the form's submit event).

$('#myAnchor').click(function() {
('#myForm').ajaxSubmit();
return false;
});

In general, that's not a great idea because it won't degrade gracefully.

Hi Adam,
 From the API it seems that you are supposed to pass a data object as
the second argument of bind ONLY IF the handler is a named reference
to an existing function. Therefore, I assume you EITHER need to
replace your anonymous function with a named reference of a function
or just pass your additional data as a parameter of your anonymous
function.

so either:

var dat = 'some text';
$().ready(function(){
$('a.remote').bind('click', function(dat){
  alert(dat);
});
});

OR:

function theHandler(e){
  alert(e.data.s);
}
var dat = 'some text';
$().ready(function(){
$('a.remote').bind('click', {'s':dat}, theHandler);
});

Hope that works for what you want to do.
Joel.

It looks like you're trying to make a cross-domain call which JS, by

FYI, you can also get the value of the name field like this:

function validate(data, $form, opts) {
var name = $form[0].name.value;
alert(name);
if (!name) return false;
}

This works fine for simple text inputs. When you need to get the
values from checkboxes, radios or selects you're better off using
fieldValue.

Tim,

First, don't use ajaxForm and ajaxSubmit together. Pick one or the
other. ajaxForm is almost always the best one to choose.

Try this:

$(document).ready(function(){
var options = {
url: "/contactusSubmit",
type: 'post',
beforeSubmit: validate,
success: contactCompleted
};

$('#contactForm').ajaxForm(options);
});

function validate(data, $form, opts) {
var name = $('#contactForm [EMAIL PROTECTED]').fieldValue();
alert(name);
if (!name) return false;
}

function contactCompleted(responseText, statusText){
// do stuff
}

Hi Adam,
 From the API it seems that you are supposed to pass a data object as
the second argument of bind ONLY IF the handler is a named reference
to an existing function. Therefore, I assume you EITHER need to
replace your anonymous function with a named reference of a function
or just pass your additional data as a parameter of your anonymous
function.
so either:

var dat = 'some text';
$().ready(function(){
$('a.remote').bind('click', function(dat){
  alert(dat);
});
});

OR:

function theHandler(e){
  alert(e.data.s);
}
var dat = 'some text';
$().ready(function(){
$('a.remote').bind('click', {'s':dat}, theHandler);
});

Hope that works for what you want to do.
Joel.

My code:
var dat = 'some text';
$().ready(function(){
   $('a.remote').bind('click', {'s':dat}, function(e){
 alert(e.data.s);

What i've noticed is when i use bind method witout passing to the

[jQuery] Execute effect half way through current effect

Hi, I'm not sure if this is possible, but I would like to execute an effect
once the current effect has completed a certain portion of it's task.

This is what I want to do:

$(document).ready(function() {

  $('#full-article').hide();

  $('#link-full-article').click(function() {
$('#full-article').slideDown("slow");

//when the .slidedown effect has shown 375px of the hidden div, do the
following:

$('.query-hide-content').animate({opacity: 'hide'}, 10);

  return false;
  });

});

Is it possible to do this?

[jQuery] jqModal and AJAX

Hello,
I'm trying to find the problem in my implementation of jqModal in my web
app.
I've set up an html only (static) test page that shows the problem i'm
facing:
if you look at:
http://dev.trickos.com/mrp/test/jqmodal-test.htm
The trigger for the jqModal window is the Edit link.
If called alone from the list page (list.htm), the jqModal window appears
without errors, however when called from inside the tabs page, an error "h
has no properties" is raised.

Any help is appreciated.

[jQuery] wrapinner with 1.1.1

2007-02-19 Thread Oliver Boermans
Hey all,

I had some trouble today attempting to use the simple wrapinner plugin
with jquery 1.1.1.
http://motherrussia.polyester.se/jquery/wrapInner/

Some modification to the plugin code was required to make it do what I
was looking for.

// The additional argument is 's' (for selector)

$.fn.wrapInner = function(e,s) {
return this.each(function(){
var o = $(this);
var c = o.html();
o.empty().append(e).find(s).append(c).end();
});
};

The modified example usage:
$('p').wrapInner('<\/a>','a');

To make this:
Hello world!

Into:
Hello world!

Perhaps someone knows how make this work without the additional argument?

Cheers

The none jquery question would be: isn't it possible to fetch your data
to a variable or an object and output that as html and make an excel

I have to disagree with that. Why shouldn't I be able to classify
elements no matter if there's an id or not. It's not all about CSS, an
id also serves as anchor and for scripting purposes. It's the same as if
you were saying using a type selector together with a class makes no sense.

div#identifier.classification

I'm not convinced it's not a bug in jQuery because it doesn't make
sense to specify a class on an Id. I'm not going to make a fuss about
it unless you also think it needs to be made a fuss about.

I've gone ahead and changed my XHTML so that I'm not getting near the
problem again.

Re: [jQuery] Including a file based on Form Select

2007-02-19 Thread Kristinn Sigmundsson
Heres a similar example from when I was starting out with jquery, had
ALOT of "test" pages back then :P
Might help you

Javascript:
var formOptions =   {
male: 'test5.php?type=male',
female: 'test5.php?type=female',
unknown: 'test5.php?type=unknown'
};

$("#extraLoader").change( function () {
if (formOptions[this.value]) {
$("#extrafields").load(formOptions[this.value]);
}
});
HTML:

 Female
 Male
 No idea

PHP (test5.php):
  male
  female
  unknown

Re: [jQuery] Figure out which img in a div was clicked?

2007-02-19 Thread Kim Johnson
Glen and Matt, thanks for your responses!

I've spent a bunch of time on this tonight and managed
to get a working solution, though I'm hoping to tweak
it a little now.

(url for a refresher... note, i've been working off a
different page now, so these new changes aren't up. At
least this will show you the div structure:
http://anime-planet.com/newsite/anirec/5.html )

Expected behavior:

-click any button while no dropdowns are visible:
dropdown associated with button lowers.

-click the SAME button once the dropdown is visible:
dropdown hides.

-click a DIFFERENT button once the first dropdown is
visible: first dropdown raises, and new dropdown
associated with new button lowers.

I decided the best way to do this, since I don't want
to preload all of the info that will be in these
dropdowns, was to use the same div (.anirec_more) and
simply use ajax or something else to populate it
depending on what you click (haven't done this part
yet).

I got #1 and 3 done, but can't get #2 to work. Here's
what I have (I know it's incorrect):

$('div.anirec_buttons img').click(function() {

if
($(this).parents('div.anirec_main').next().is(":visible"))
{

$(this).parents('div.anirec_main').next().slideUp(400);

if
($(this).parents('div.anirec_main').parent().is(":"+$(this).attr("id")))
{
//Not sure how to do a "is not" function in jquery,
or i'd structure it that way
}
else
{

$(this).parents('div.anirec_main').next().slideDown(400);

$(this).parents('div.anirec_main').parent().addClass($(this).attr("id"));
}

}
else
{

$(this).parents('div.anirec_main').next().slideToggle(400);

$(this).parents('div.anirec_main').parent().addClass($(this).attr("id"));
}
return false;
});

My reasoning: since the outermost div of each series
entry has no class, I could append a class to it
matching the id of the clicked button. Then, I could
compare the currently clicked button's ID with
whatever the dropdown div's outermost parent has a
class set as. If they match, don't slidedown the new
div or give a new class name to the div. If they don't
we know a new button has been clicked and must act
accordingly.

Any ideas on how I could make that happen? I tried out
the code above and it's not working right.

My only other question is related to settimeout; I
want a second or two delay before the second dropdown
comes down, but am not sure how to pass the this
object into another function, to pass to settimeout.I
could probably post this in a different thread. :)

thanks,
-kim

Re: [jQuery] jqModal: closeClass and href?

fatjoez,

  The submit event is not getting attached to the submit button because
it is inserted AFTER (loaded remotely) you assign the event to login
button(s) via; $('.loginBtn').click(...)

  There's two ways to go about this.

A) You can execute a custom ajax routine in an onOpen function which
assigns the submit event in a callback. Here's an example;

var onOpen = function(h) {
h.w.load('login.htm',function() {
  $('.loginBtn',this).click(function(){ alert('worked?'); ... });
  // note; the $('.loginBtn') selector is scoped to $('#loginBox') via
"this"
});
};

$('#loginBox').jqm({trigger: 'a.openLogin'},onOpen);

B) You can include script which assigns the submit event within the AJAX
response ( form HTML you are loading remotely). See the ajax example of
demonstration #3 "/True Modal/" @
http://dev.iceburg.net/jquery/jqModal/ . If you click to view remote
content -- you'll see that javascript is inlined (view source) as;

[[[ REMOTE FILE CONTENT ]]]
Want to see if jqModal supports nested focused windows?

Yes
No

Click here
to view remote (ajax_ex3.html) content.

$('#ex3c').jqm({
trigger: '#ex3ctrigger',
overlay: 25,
overlayColor: '#eaffc3',
zIndex: 3005,
focus: true });

Cool?
