Re: [IxDA Discuss] Endless.com code snippet (Tread: Long list with multi-select )

I forgot to note that, as the name implies, the DataTables plugin is
meant for manipulation of tables, but still might help you for the
live filter aspect. (Although I'm sure there is probably a more
suitable filter plugin out there)

Hi Shannon,

While I don't remember coming across a code snippet or plugin that
does exactly what you're looking for, you might find the DataTables
plugin (http://plugins.jquery.com/project/DataTables) helpful for the
"filter-as-you-type" functionality.

For what it's worth, the whole thing should be pretty trivial to
build from scratch if you're at all familiar with JQuery.

Hope that helps, and good luck!

You know, I was thinking about my responses to your inquiry and I
don't really know if the above-mentioned plugin will be all that
helpful.

Regarding the filtering, it would probably be easier to just iterate
through all the list items and show() or hide() the ones you need to
(or something similar). The rest of the functionality seems pretty
straightforward.

Anyway, sorry for all the (probably not-so-helpful) replies. I'd be
curious to find out about any interesting results you come across in
your testing, and see your working prototype if you'd be willing to
share :)

As for cups I once asked a wiater in a dim sum restuarant in Calgary
why the tea cups did not have handles and he said if the cup of tea
was too hot to hold in my hands it was probally to hot to put in my
mouth.
