slimpy, i never doubted you, i just wouldn't know if you are correct. iow's, i can't confirm you are correct, but based on your last post, you certainly seem to be. Richard, would you agree? if so, i think a bug report should be filed with the idea being that the SBC should realize if the update is simply different, OR newer. different would essentially denote older. whats confusing is that the mismatch just assumes newer when in fact, thats not the case. its also good to know that the nightlies link is not where the SBC gets its updates. however, i think an enh request would be good to enable a "beta" fw update if you wanted, so users like me could just get it over wifi instead of via SD card. -- MrSinatra www.LION-Radio.org Using: Squeezebox2 (primary) / SBR (secondary) / SBC - w/SC 7.0.1beta - Win XP Pro SP2 - 3.2ghz / 2gig ram - D-Link DIR-655 MrSinatra's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2336 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=46643 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

I did few rescans even full ones. My library is small it has only 2100 files. I don't have any addons installed. The file does not contains any special letters. Re: [slim] Playing cd's
Sounds promising - I presume this is with the script and the diskutil command before cdda2wav. A few times I've started a track playing, it plays a few secs of audio, pauses and then continues - I put this down to the getting audio from the CD. It only happens rarely and I've put it down to the fact cdda2wav is being used to get data in realtimewhich is not its main purpose and there is some sort of buffer mismatch. Some tuning of parameters may be helpful once it is proved there is a reliable way of playing a track. -- bpa bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=42106 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

Good & bad news. 1. The extra dash has gone 2. The change you made has an error which I think resulted in the error message (but it indicates it is the conf file in use) Code: -S 4-gui --output-format raw -gui There are two "-gui" but more important there is no space between the 4 and the "-gui". There should be a space. This gives the error from the log. Code: /usr/local/bin/cdda2wavreal: Bad Option: -S. Regarding Softsqueeze - I'm a bit suspicious of it at the moment given that people have reported this Play/stop/play to get a track going. Add a space after the "4" and get rid of one of the "-gui" and try again. -- bpa bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=42106 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
[slim] Squeezecenter setup issues and some impressions
I just "upgraded" to Squeezecenter 7.0.1 from 6.5.whatever I had before. While I run iTunes on my machine, it's there purely to manage content for my iPod. My main music library is all WMA Lossless, and iTunes has a partial copy in a much lower-fidelity form. When I installed Squeezecenter, I made sure the "Use iTunes library" option was unchecked. And yet ... once Squeezecenter had finished scanning my library, it went off and scanned my iTunes library too. So I checked my settings, and the "use iTunes" option was still unchecked. Huh? Next, I started looking around the new UI. While it's pretty, it is DOG slow, at least on IE 7.0. Since I know how much the webbies I work with prefer developing in Firefox, I tested using FF and sure enough, Squeezecenter felt much snappier. Yes, everyone loves to hate IE and Microsoft, but personally, I prefer IE's UI to Firefox. Please don't make me run a different browser just to use my music player. Lastly, I took a look at the scanner logs. Imagine my surprise when I noticed that, despite my being very specific about where to look for playlists and music, Squeezecenter had gone off and scanned all sorts of other locations on my system, so all sorts of whacky playlists created by apps I've used in the past like iPodder suddenly show up in Squeezecenter. So now I have to go and remove them manually, when I didn't ask for them to be added in the first place. Overall, not very impressive. -- Simonfish Simonfish's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10334 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=47053 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

Nope, and I just tried it from a 3rd computer almost completely unrelated to the first two. First two are work-issued laptops. The 3rd is a personal laptop completely uncontaminated by the 1st two. Hi again, Followed the instructions on page 3 in this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=45486&highlight=mouth&page=3 BUT I just moved my "SqueeseCenter" folder found in "application support" instead of deleting it. Then I * downloaded the latest official release, got it installed, verified that the server started as expected. * Stopped it and updated it to latest nightly release and verified that the server started as expected. * Stopped it, replaced the new "SqueezeCenter" folder in Application Support with the original one * Restarted the server - NO SUCCES! * Restarted the server again - SUCCES! Now all plugins and prefs seems to back to what they were before I did not reboot my Mac during the process. Conclusion: It's probably the Cache giving Mac-users a headache. Possible cause: Inproper shutdown of Mac (e.g. Power Failure) Possible solution: Having a script that trashes the SqueezeCenter cache at startup Will now start checking up that everything works..AND add my SqueezeCenter folder to my backup list :-) Hope for a permanent fix for this problem soon. /Sune P.S. If you simply unplug the SB3, your settings will survive. You can unplug, crack it open and remove the wireless card that way. If that works, you'll see the Logitech logo when you power up and you will have time to enter the network settings before it tries to use the existing setup. Just out of curiosity, you did mention trying the brightness button on the remote, but did you check the brightness setting in the web UI in case that says 0, or are you able to get other reactions from the player using the remote? It's always possible that the batteries have gone, thus no reaction to the brightness button. -kdf -- kdf kdf's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=7 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=47015 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] Playing cd's
> > Am I right in saying that it is the difference between > > output-endianess=little - $FILE$ - > > which occurs in the log > > and > > output-endianess=little $FILE$ - > Yes - the conf file provides templates for command to be executed by SC. The "$FILE$" string is replaced by the name of the file/url to be played before trying to execute the command - in this case something like "dev=IODVDServices -track 2". In the original conf file the line looked like "output-endianess=little --quiet $FILE$ -" and I asked to remove the "--quiet" so that the error message from cdda2wav could be displayed. cdda2wav expects an output file name to be the last item on the command. If a "-" is provided then cdda2wav thinks stdout is output. Our problem is the extra "-" is before the "dev=" which specifies which CDROM drive to use and so cdda2wav doesn't "see" the device specification and so it complains about missing drive etc. I'm worried that conf file might have a funny character sequence such as 'L', 'I', 'T', 'T', 'L', 'E', space, space, dash, backspace, space which would mean that the dash is not "seen" when a file is displayed on a screen yet it is in the file. Re: [slim] SB3 Display Dead. What now?
I had an SB3 that appeared to be dead like you describe. When I sent it to SD for a repair, they discovered that the fault was with the wireless card. So, if you expect that your warranty has expired, you might try opening the unit up and removing the wireless card and seeing if the display comes back. Stranger things have happened. Re: [slim] Playing cd's
It's definitely in a custom-convert.conf file - from you post #84 - in the log where the matching rule is found - this is before any of my code changes it. Code: [08-04-30 09:28:10.6245] Slim::Player::TranscodingHelper::getConvertCommand (302) Matched Format: flc Type: cdplay Command: [cdda2wav] -S 4 --output-format raw -gui output-endianess=little - $FILE$ - | [flac] -cs --totally-silent --endian=little --channels=2 --sign=signed --bps=16 --sample-rate=44100 --compression-level-0 - To confirm CDplayer is using the custom-convert.conf file - I suggest changing some of the files text and do another log. for example. Change Code: cdplay flc * * [cdda2wav] -S 4 --output-format raw -gui output-endianess=little $FILE$ - | [flac] -cs --totally-silent --endian=little --channels=2 --sign=signed --bps=16 --sample-rate=44100 --compression-level-0 - to Code: cdplay flc * * [cdda2wav] -S 4 -gui --output-format raw output-endianess=little $FILE$ - | [flac] -cs --totally-silent --endian=little --channels=2 --sign=signed --bps=16 --sample-rate=44100 --compression-level-0 - If the change is not in the log file - then there is a hidden conf file. Re: [slim] Playing cd's
Looking back at previous logs The following has "--quiet" and no extra "-" - it makes me think the issue is still in the conf file. However the remainder of the log still showed that the device problem seemed to be presetn so the script with unmount may still be necessary. Code: [08-04-26 22:19:54.5235] Plugins::CDplayer::CDPLAY::new (107) About to execute: '"/usr/local/bin/cdda2wav" -S 4 --output-format raw -gui output-endianess=little --quiet dev=IODVDServices -track 1 - | "/Users/danco/Library/PreferencePanes/SqueezeCenter.prefPane/Contents/server/Bin/darwin/flac" -cs --totally-silent --endian=little --channels=2 --sign=signed --bps=16 --sample-rate=44100 --compression-level-0 -' I'd still like to find the source of this stray "-" as it may be confusing things. When SC is starting - I think SC reads all the custom-convert.conf files it can find in any subdirectory of server/Plugins and server/Slim/Plugin. So if you have a backup of CDplayer's custom-convert.conf somewhere in the Plugins tree - SC could be reading that - and in the case of more than one set of rules for "cdplay", the last set of rules for "cdplay" processed will be the ones that are used. Can you check for other copies of custom-convert.conf which have cdplay rules. -- bpa bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=42106 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

[slim] Rescan New/Changed: Don't remove offline music entries
Hi I have a number of remote networked music folders pointed to by shortcuts. The machines in question are not necessarily on line when the auto rescan is performed, causing SC to remove said entries from the database. Can SC be made (optionally) to keep any entries referring to missing music files on the assumption that they are only missing temporarily? During rescan New/Changed mode only. This would avoid unnecessary rescans and music going AWOL. A worthwhile change I think. Can you double check the custom-convert.conf file - I can't be sure but it looks like a a dash (aka "-") has been inserted) between "little" and "dev=". > > output-endianess=little *-* dev=IODVDServices > Perhaps left over from removing "--quiet". This may be causing the device problem - in which case the script is not necessary. To check. 1. Remove "-" 2. rename cdda2wavreal back to cdda2wav 3. rename CDplayer/Bin/cdda2wav to cdd2wavscript (anything will do just not cdda2wav) 4. REstart SC and test If dash was not present or If above doesn't work then rename everything back again to get the script working and modify script to get more info. I also wanted to disable the wireless card (I only use LAN), but I found no indication that it can bring the display back. I'm afraid of a reset that will not allow me to reconfigure.
