You must have missed it with the flood of posts that have been pouring in!!! To quote myself again, this is what I said in regards to the Classical Music issue: "The bulk of my collection is Classical music in FLAC format and as you can guess I've run into some problems browsing. I NEED to be able browse by composer (within the Classical genre would be nice, too). Also, let's say I have a piano concerto by Mozart and under the Artist tag I have "Alfred Brendel; Sir Neville Marriner; Academy of St. Martin-in-the-Fields". Under the Now Playing, only one of those artists will be displayed in the now playing listing. Anyway to rotate the three in the display? Because like I said, without being able to view more info, it gets confusing. Another problem I've run into is with the display of long tracknames. This is fine for a rock album or something, but for Classical, this is a bit of a headache. Back to the Piano Concerto example, if I have an album with the complete piano concertos of Mozart, I will end up with something like: "Piano Concerto No... 1. Allegro moderato Piano Concerto No... 2. Adagio sostenuto Piano Concerto No... 3. Allegro" and so on... Thus, it makes it impossible for me to figure out what number Piano Concerto I am choosing!!!" -- ch1525 ch1525's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17838 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=55514 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

Sounds dumb but try rebooting whichever machine SC and MIP is running on (they are running on the same box, aren't they?). Re: [slim] Integrating MusicIP and SqueezeCentre
Steve - nope - no further progress. I tried installing 7.3 last night to see if that made any difference but unfortunately not. I still have the same problem when trying to play songs - ie: the squeezebox can't play them. Meanwhile I have been trying to follow Philip's advice to leave the library path filled in "to retrieve music via SqueezeCenter's scanner, and use MusicIP just for identifying mixable tracks" (which 7.3 does allow you to do - though couldn't find this option in the 7.2.1 MusicIP plugin). Unfortunately the damn thing now won't read my G drive so I can't fill in the correct drive. I think I might have to uninstall everything and start again - but the thought of that fills me with gloom and I think I might just forget about MusicIP except for mixing iPod playlists. Re: [slim] Squeezebox 2 - wireless (partially) stopped working
Weird. In general the fact that the DHCP is working so it gets an IP shows two things, that the physical wireless link is working and that it's connected to the network OK (i.e. the passkey etc is correct). I'd try a few things if you haven't already: 1) Factory reset (see the wiki http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/Hardware_Reset_commands) 2) Verify that the IP it gets is genuine (i.e. that it is within the correct range for your network). Also verify that the router lists the lease in it's web interface. It's possible that the SB isn't really associating and is using a failback address whilst looking as if DHCP is working. 3) Call support :) -- radish radish's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=77 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=55660 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

[slim] Squeezebox 2 - wireless (partially) stopped working
My squeezebox 2 suddenly stopped being able to find the slimserver on my PC over wireless; however, over ethernet connection it works fine. If I connect via wireless, it sees the router, gets an IP address, but then can't auto-detect the slimserver. When I type in my PC's IP address, it says that it's configured, but then turns off. When I turn it on it says it cannot connect the slimserver, yada yada. Doesn't the fact that it gets an IP address mean that the wireless is basically working? If so, what could be causing this issue? Given that LAN -> LAN on the router works, it doesn't seem like wireless -> LAN would be causing issues; and, I've had it working fine on this router for years. -- flavor8 flavor8's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12280 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=55660 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss

[slim] How to make 'stopped' radio station to 'autorestart' ?
Hi, I'm enjoying my SB3 for a few week and eventually convinced my wife to start loving it as well... Unfortunately her favorite radio station sporadically stops playing. The screen of the SB3 shows 'stopped' so I believe something happened to the stream. Isn't it easy to figure out that the stream stopped 'not because I stopped on the stop button' and therefore have the SB3 restart the stream automagically ? My wife wouldn't have the time to notice the hiccup and I could finally trow away my dust taking FMradio wasting space on the shelf. Maybe a plugin does this already ? In SqueezeCenter the option "Year with Album" is set to true/yes/positive (visible). First, the collection was not that big and the year of album was displayed. I.e. under the artist: "Albumname" "(Year)" "Artist" After a rescan (delete currect collection, start all over again), the albumyear was not visible anymore _on the duet controller_. [slim] Playlist bug when player power is interrupted
I have an SB2 that I use when I'm exercising. It's connected to a 2-channel amp that draws a lot of power, so I power the whole thing down from a power strip after I'm done. Lately I've noticed that the Now Playing display reverts to the PREVIOUS track when I power it up again. Let's say my playlist consists of A, B, C. I play A, I start to play B, then I power down - usually stopping first but sometimes just pressing the power button (player set to stop on power down). I then cut power to the player. When I power the player up again the Now Playing display is stuck at A, the previous track and one I've already played. Shouldn't it be on B? Oh and it doesn't necessarily stop at the first item in the playlist (A), if I stopped on C it would start at B on power on. System details: SqueezeCenter Version: 7.2.1 - 23771 @ Thu Nov 6 02:09:32 PST 2008 - Debian - EN - utf8 Perl Version: 5.10.0 x86_64-linux-gnu-thread-multi MySQL Version: 5.0.67-0ubuntu6 Platform Architecture: x86_64-linux I'm not sure of the SB2 firmware version, it's powered down at the moment :-) - I seem to recall 113. I don't believe it matters, this seems like a server-side issue. Is this a bug? I searched existing bug reports and couldn't find anything similar. What debug flags should I set? [slim] Selecting music and creating playlists on Classic
Hi, I watched some video demos on this, but they were not very informative. I'm heavily considering a Classic, but the one thing holding me up is the question of whether a Classic will be a step backwards in terms of ease of music selection and playlist creation vs. my current set-up. Currently, I use Foobar and send spdif over coax from my PC to my DAC. With this set-up, I'm able to scroll through hundreds of albums and set up a playlist on-the-fly as fast as I can drag and drop. Because so much info is visible on the PC monitor, this is a super quick and convenient process. What's scrolling and playlist creation like on the Classic? From what I've seen, you can only view one album at a time, so it seems like scrolling through a large library to create a playlist would be much more time consuming. Is this accurate? I guess I could use Foobar to create a playlist, save it to where SqueezeCenter is pointed, then select that playlist with the Classic's remote. Is there a better way? Thanks in advance for any input. Re: [slim] iPeng Application 1.0 now on the App Store
I understand that when iPhone apps start they get to display a static splash screen, so that the user gets to see something before the app proper is running. iPeng's splash screen shows a volume bar and the transport buttons. I really think you should remove the controls from the splash screen. They aren't functional and all they do is annoy me as I try to change the volume before there is a real control there. At the very least I think you should change the image so the controls as shown as disabled. -- andynormancx Yes, it will. Yes, all of them. Yes, SoftSqueeze as well. What ? It's the "normal" Apple way. In the Playlist, click the button in the title bar (it doesn't say "edit" for lack of space, on a German iPod that translates into "Bearbeiten"...). Then you get into edit mode and you can move around the tracks with the handles that show up on the right. BUG ALERT: Don't move the first track! It will crash iPeng. No kidding, I'm very unhappy with the scrolling behavior on the Player screen (although you will only notice with many players or several servers) and for this reason the left/right scrolling as it is now will very likely go away in one of the next versions and be replaced by buttons + "real" swipe or something... -- pippin --- see iPeng at penguinlovesmusic.com pippin's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13777 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=55514 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] iPeng Application 1.0 now on the App Store
Dear Pippin, Just wanted to say that I more or less gave up on the web app, as it was too slow for the way I used it. Thus, I have been looking much forward to the actual app (I bought my iPod Touch in spring 2008, specifically because of iPeng). I bought it, installed it and I am so far happy. There was a bit of weird stuff going on initially, but after having updated by SqueezeCenter to 7.2.1 and then flushed the cache on my 'Pod, everything seems to work. As for the user interface, there are a few non-intuitive things that you could perhaps elaborate on, on your help section. These includes: - The "play / + / play-next" marker in the top line on pages where you select songs. - The fact that playlists are not instantly updated (I understand it needs to come from the server...but normally you would see them instantly) - The shuffle-vs-normal-play thing discussed earlier in this thread - How to reorganise your playlist (I haven't figured this one out yet...) But in general - happy happy happy. My iPod is now a beautiful and very capable remote for my pretty SqueezeBox. Instead of the ugly thing from Slim/Logitech. Overall - definately worth the price so far :-) Sune P.S. I cannot make my MusicIP Mix work from the App...is it supported? If so, there's probably just a pref somewhere in my SqueezeCenter I need to fix). P.P.S. Happy to see that the white dots made it to the App :-) Works really nice now! -- Sune Sune's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=8823 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=55514 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] iPeng Application 1.0 now on the App Store
Looks like a bug :-( I first suspected an empty "ignoredarticels" string (in SqueezeCenter: Settings->Music Library->Ignored Articles) but here it looks robust against that. So it's probably like you suspect, one of your albums containing an empty title or artist string Which is a BIT strange since typically SC creates something if it can't find anything. I'll fix it, but as long as you don't find that album (or the ignoredarticels thing miraculously helps) I'm afraid you will have to wait for that update :-( Oh, one more thing you COULD try: You say, you can run iPeng for 20s, could you try to exit it regularly after 15 of those and restart? -- pippin --- see iPeng at penguinlovesmusic.com pippin's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13777 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=55514 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
