[slim] HowTo- Install SqueezeSlave as a Windows Service
Inspired by the beautiful simplicity of iPeng on my shiny new iPhone, I wanted to be able to control the music playing in the kitchen whilst sitting on the lav upstairs. Don't we all? But the wife has a habit of closing things that are running on the computer in the kitchen before she makes here 78 times daily check of the E! Online RSS feed. So the only solution was to install SqueezeSlave and run it as a service. Not being the sharpest tool in the box, I spent many hours on this forum last night trying to figure this out. Thanks to many many helpful posts I got there in the end, and wrote up step-by-step instructions (attached and here too: http://bagawire.blogspot.com/2009/04/how-to-install-squeezeslave-as-service.html). One caveat only, if SqueezeCenter is restarted then the SqueezeSlave service has to be restarted. Two, actually - if the service resides on the same machine as is hosting SqueezeCenter then the service will not start automatically, as it is impatient and will not wait for Squeezecenter to start. Many of you clever lot out there probably know what to do about these things. If you do, then please step in! You don't say what OS you are running on, but to delete the password - stop squeezecenter, find the squeezecenter.pref file, take a backup of the file first, then open up in a text editor, and you should be able to scroll down and manually delete the password. Save, restart squeezecenter, and you should be able to log in just by putting in your user name, and leaving the password blank. To reset other settings, you may need to stop squeezecenter, delete the prefs file entirely - then restart but you will need to set it up all over again (all settings, not just security). -- Siduhe Who am I on 'LAST.FM' (http://www.last.fm/user/siduhe)? -Siduhe Loved Tracks radio got the thumbs up. I don't think the OP can get into the web interface to reset the security settings. Tirion, again, I don't think that file will necessarily show up on a search, because of the location it is stored in. Are you searching for hidden and system files? Sounds like an uninstall may be the best thing to do, but make sure you delete all traces of SC including your prefs and logs, otherwise you will still have the problem when you reinstall. -- Siduhe Who am I on 'LAST.FM' (http://www.last.fm/user/siduhe)? -Siduhe Loved Tracks radio got the thumbs up. Let the Squeeze remote do the job of running the GUI and SqueezeCenter generate it. Its sole function is to select files and play them. Let someone else do the recording just like Squeezeboxen let other systems ready the content. And, MOST IMPORTANTLY, API to allow PVRs or any other software to integrate to it for driving playback via IP interface just like on Squeezebox. For reasons I can't fathom all the current video players coming out are all monolithic GUI/Players with no API for integration. I appreciate that Sigma wants its driver code help proprietary, but there is no reason not to build an IP interface to permit commands to be given to the block of code doing the playback. -- Eric Carroll Transporter-Pass Labs X2.5-Bel Canto Evo6 Gen II-Paradigm Signature S8 SB3-Bryston 3B SST-Paradigm Reference Studio 60 v.4 SB3-Kingrex T20-Paradigm Reference Studio 20 v.4 Eric Carroll's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=9293 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=62047 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

[slim] QRadio
I find an amaizing lot of radiostations, channels etc through my Duet Controlloer. I did change the icon for the version I re-submitted to the App Store today. I find it a bit ugly now but it has good reactivity and it's clearly distinguishable, although it's still blue :-) Also got a chance to fix the issue for which I had invented an 1.1.1 release target´only yesterday which was that iPeng did flush the album cache when you connected to SN which it was not supposed to do and which is a bit uncomfortable if you've got a large database. Re: [slim] SqueezePlay - Plays only 30 secs or Repeats Song
I have issues with it as well, sound cuts out with around 10 seconds left. That said. Squeezeplay is Beta and development has basically been put on hold, so there is nothing that can be done. I suggest not using it until they have the resources to work on it again. -- Jeff Flowerday Jeff Flowerday's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=15883 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=62004 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
