I will add another HDD and I'll need to get the extra mounting bracket from mini-itx. I'm now just waiting for the USB keyboard to arrive before I can start getting it up and running. I did decide to go for an external USB DVDrom too as I thought it could be used for ripping CDs or DVDs straight to the unit. This DIY PC will be always on and connected directly to my router. From what I've read and been advised, Vortexbox and Squeezebox Server will be accessed via a web browser on my main PC. Nice one, thanks, I selected the 60w power supply but will ask their advice if 80w is more suitable. I also intend to plunge for a 500gb drive as this will be plenty for now but as you say the case is in theory able to accommodate 2 hard disks with the extra mounting plate. I rip with dbpoweramp at the mo and intend doing so but then direct the ripped files to be sent the drive on the mini pc via the router...hopefully! -- wonder boy wonder boy's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=15950 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=81683 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] Squeezeslave stops playing after changing tracks
When I first read your post I thought you might be using an older version which has a similiar issue but 0.9-133 should work okay with 7.5.1. I've been able to reproduce your problem on one linux system, but on another it operates normally. I'm currently working on fixing the issue, but won't likely have anything to test for a week or two. In the mean time you could try the latest development version from 'here' (http://squeezeslave.googlecode.com/files/squeezeslave-0.9-173-lnx26.tar.gz). I don't expect it to fix the problem but want to be sure. Please try it out and report back. Re: [slim] Basic Squeezbox Facts.....?
Okay well lets be clear. I am not talking about the buying of new CDs and turning them into FLAC and selling the originals on... it is a bit of a hassle. From now I will buy FLACs from Napster or some such alternative What we are talking about is the turning my present CDs (from the last 20 years) into FLACs and selling them. Is it illegal? Probably. But then it is legal to hang a Welshman in Worcester if you find him within the old walls and it is after midnight not all law is particularly sensible or adherred to. I feel no moral compunction to adhere to the law of destroying Radiohead's OK Computer after I have changed into a FLAC... I will sell it for £2-4 at a carboot and if that makes me a criminal then so be it. -- loosetooth loosetooth's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=40286 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=81713 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

I ripped most of my CDs quite some time ago now and put them onto a WD My Book external HDD. Then I bought the Squeezebox Duet but found that it was a pain having to turn on the PC whenever I wanted to listen to music. Also, Squeezebox Server does affect the performance of my PC if I'm doing others things and listening to music at the same time. Hopefully the mini PC will sort out those issues. -- zozo4 zozo4's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=39445 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=81683 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Apple's Airplay coming soon...
This is going to be a major challlenge to Logitech Squeeze devices. I suggest that Logitech meet this challenge by updating the firmware in all their Squeeze devices to add the Apple's AirPlay feature. This way, the Squeeze devices have the best of both worlds - they keep their existing infrastructure and add to it. -- mortslim mortslim's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=11039 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=81670 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

I don't know how much of a thread it will be to the SB ecosystem, but Apple's solutions are usually rather well designed and easy to use.
