Re: [slim] Control your SqueezeBox or Transporter with Foobar2000

2011-03-05 Thread stuffedspacedog

OK, here you go. Download the zip file. Unzip the files to your FB2K
directory which should be c:\program files\foobar2000.

Right click on the file that says "FooSQIP.exe - Shortcut" and select
"properties".

In the "Target" field you will see an IP address of 127.0.0.1 - change
that to the IP address of your vortexbox, make sure that the IP address
has quote marks on both sides, e.g. "192.168.0.1".

Good luck!

Re: [slim] SB release 7.5.3: Unreliable. Anyone else?

2011-03-05 Thread paulster

The plug-ins I was running were all Logitech ones.

I think the truth is 7.5.3 is actually the problem, not the plugins.

For instance we've already established definitively that the FAAD AAC
conversion executable shipped with 7.5.3 causes a processor race.

I had the same issue (Ubuntu 10.10), which appeared with the 7.5.3
upgrade.

Maybe my wheater-plugin, which tried to poll wunderground.com without
success, caused the problem.

It could be a coincidence that the wunderground.com problems appeared
at the same time as the 7.5.3 upgrade.

Re: [slim] Need help pointing towards itunes

2011-03-05 Thread aubuti

Forget about Windows for now. How are you browsing your library with
SBS? Under My Music, are you using Albums, Artists, Genres, Years, or
Music Folder? "Music Folder" is the only one that cares what your
filenames are -- everything else is based on the tags in your files.

As for your different bitrate folders, do you have the same tracks at
different bitrates? If so, the best solution for SBS is to keep the low
bitrate versions completely out of the music library path. For example,
I have three main music folders: (1) lossless, (2) lossy MP3 versions
of the lossless tracks, and (3) tracks that I only have in MP3. I have
my folders and SBS set so that it only sees (1) and (3). But when I
make copies for my portable player, I use only (2) and (3).

Btw, within Windows the leading zeros are needed because that is the
strict sort order for most software. If you have 1, 2, 3, ., 10,
11, 12 then a strict sorting based on the characters is 1, 10, 11, 12,
2, 3, . But if your tags are correct it won't matter (except for
Browse Music Folder).

[slim] Rdioio Broken?

2011-03-05 Thread minimeh

Hi,

I'm running Squeezebox Server Version: 7.5.3 - r31792. I have a Radioio
premium account that is all good and have been using it through my SB3
for years. I can log into Radioio's web site and access the account
without any problems.

However, starting today it seems, when I try to play any channel from
Radioio, I get an immediate error that says "Error No Items Found In
Playlist".

Also starting today, when I access the Radioio app either from the web
interface or via my SB3, I usually get only my account as an entry, no
radio channels. When I repeatedly try, sometimes the entire radio
channel list does come back, but then trying to play any channel
results in the error.

It looks like Radioio is having some troubles, but I was wondering if
anybody else is seeing this? Or, maybe I have messed something up and
somebody has a good pointer to straighten it out?

Thanks!

[slim] From out of the blue - dodgy wireless reception?

2011-03-05 Thread Nick_G

My Squeezebox Touch keeps dropping the connection on internet radio
streams tonight - it'll play for anything between 1 and 5 minutes and
then stop and go to the top-level menu. Sometimes it's reduced to just
2 items: Internet Radio and Settings. To me this suggests iffy wireless
reception.

It's never been this bad before though and I've had it over a month.
Why should it suddenly start playing up now?

I'll try it again in the morning and see if it's any better.

Any help on this much appreciated.

Thanks,
Nick

Contrary to the touch you can't select the Transporter product and

2011-03-05 Thread pippin

I believe Andy is aware of it. It's a change in the comms that seems to
cause it.
All menu updates are only being sent to one arbitrary (the first?)
controller (the server packages messages for all channel up into one
multi-message packet)
SP is affected, too.
Maybe iPeng is affected most heavily since it only listens to status
updates and doesn't request a menu as a request (I believe that feature
was nonexistent when I first built this for iPeng).

It's simply a server bug.

Update: I do think it's a bigger problem (on Logitechs side).

Though I'm able to render menus again in my local version, menu updates
don't work anymore (on SqueezeBoxes and in SqueezePad).

You can try yourself: just try to turn on/off a Squeezebox with a
Touch: the menu item "turn Player On/Off" isn't updating anymore. This
bug is what causes the problems in SqueezePad and iPeng.

Will try to localize the version of Squeezebox-Server that introduced
the bug to create a bug report.

The latest 7.6 and 7.5 versions changed the way menus are handled in
the last couple of days.
So right now the menus don't work at all with a nightly version of the
server.

Also iPeng is heavily affected (it doesn't show any playersettings, nor
custombrowse menus, nor Apps).

I'm working on it right now - but until Apple then releases the version
at least one or two weeks will pass.

Please use the stable version 7.5.3, or - if available - a
Squeezebox-Server Nightly version from one or two weeks ago (don't know
exactly when it started, but first reports arrived only this week).
Running 7.6 or 7.5 nightlies can break SqueezePad any day (even if it
worked quite good so far).

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Re: [slim] Announcing SqueezePad - the first dedicated iPad App to controll your SqueezeBoxen !

2011-03-05 Thread gharris999

I'm having some trouble with SqueezePad when switching between local SBS
servers. When I go into the gear-icon settings page and select a
different Local Squeezebox Server URL using the "Search" button, I get
the new server, but back on SqueezePad's 'home' screen I only end up
with a 'Settings' menu entry for the selected player. I.e. no
'Artists', 'Albums', 'Genres', etc.

Repeatedly hitting the 'Home' button doesn't seem to help. Going back
to settings and performing a 'Clear Cache' doesn't seem to help either.

The SBS I'm switching FROM is SBS 7.6 running the latest trunk svn code
on ubuntu server 10.04 and the SBS I'm switching TO is also SBS 7.6
running from a recent svn trunk update on Ubuntu 10.10.

SqueezePad does show me all the players attached to the 'switch to' SBS
in the drop-down player list. But the all behave the same...no music
content available on the SqueezePad home screen.

The 'switch to' SBS otherwise works fine with all other interfaces:
webUI, player UIs, iPeng, etc. Only SqueezePad is exhibiting this
problem.

I do have playback enabled for this SqueezePad, if that might somehow
be related to this issue.

Re: [slim] What Is Your Favorite Music Service?

2011-03-05 Thread alexander_binder

I'm using Pandora, realy happy with it. And paying for it.

It is the only music service I have found that dosen't make strange
mixes when you speicify a song. Not like Last.fm, Napster or SlackerI
have tried.

Example, when you chose Stairway to Heaven or Nothing Else Matters from
Metallica and want to enjoy some "softer" music it will not jump to the
heavy metals songs but continue in that style.

Regards,

Alex

Re: [slim] Need help pointing towards itunes

2011-03-05 Thread aubuti

Not sure I can help you here. If your tags are correct then they should
appear fine whether they are in iTunes or viewed in SBS without iTunes
integration. Note that SBS does not use the filenames for browsing by
albums, artists, genres, years, etc. The only time SBS uses the file
and folder names is if you browse "Music Folder" -- other than that the
sort order you see in Windows is completely irrelevant to SBS.

Re: [slim] Need help pointing towards itunes

2011-03-05 Thread fortitude.five

Thanks for the response, Aubuti. The reason that I want to point to
iTunes is because of the better organization/tagging. I have lots of
music that is ripped with DB Poweramp or downloaded from online web
stores that will be ordered correctly in iTunes, but not when sitting
in a Windows directory. Also would like the artwork and any other info
to populate from one central place into SB.

Directory structure where all music is stored is F: Music and then sub
directories of Lossless, 24 bit, mp3, etc. Would like to keep this
sorting ability to group albums by bitrate even if I use itunes. I
guess I could do this with huge playlists so that answers that
question.

Maybe my main issue is knowing how to get SB to read correct track
order out of a windows file? Is there a trick to that?

Re: [slim] Napster Irritations

2011-03-05 Thread aubuti

Napster has numerous problems with the API for both its web client and
for Squeezeboxes. It started last year when Napster updated their API,
which as far as I know, is still incomplete. The various album quirks
you mention (multiple listings for the same album, no direct way to
save an album to your Napster library, etc) are among the more annoying
problems. There are various open bugs at bugs.slimdevices.com , as well
as threads here.

There are some things that Logitech can do, but almost everything
really comes down to Napster getting itself sorted out. And to make it
even more complicated, the interfaces and issues vary from one country
to another.

Re: [slim] Problem with radio station(s)

2011-03-05 Thread Paul Webster

FYI - Foggy Mountain does work fine on a Reciva device (using the
station from their database).
It shows as a 131Kbps AAC stream.
Their web-based stream laucher is very simplistic and for some stream
URLs it does not result in something playing even though it works on
the devices.
RadioTime has the same stream URL.

Re: [slim] Feature request: SqueezeboxCar having a Player and a Squeezebox Server Satellite

A poll associated with this post was created, to vote and see the
results, please visit http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=86053

Question: Would you buy a home integrated Squeezebox car appliance

- Yes
- No

I should have a better look at what I use, as I access music only on NAS
and MSB.com. Touch has nice features!

And in a way the touch would fit on the car console. I could use a
costly 32GB SD card (maximum Touch support) or an USB drive. I also
need to find a proper 12V to 5V 4Amp DC/DC power supply.

I would like that it just works by itself without manually copying the
music library on a USB drive.

pski;615559 Wrote:
> the only missing piece is a cron run of rsync to make the touch have the
> same music files as the home server

It would be great if an USB drive attached to Touch could be made
visible as a network share. By this I could run a cron job from the NAS
making a sync from the master music library.

See also here: 'Touch in a car'

For now I have to make a decision, maybe an iPod Classic with 160GB
disk is a leaner solution, where of course I have to sync it manually
on the workstation too. iPod Touch has unfortunately only 64GB, and so
does iPad.

[slim] Napster Irritations

2011-03-05 Thread Furry

Both the Plugin and the PC client appear somewhat flaky:

Plugin:

1. Whatever I do, I cannot delete albums from My Napster / Albums;
deleting them via the PC client doesn't make any difference to what I
find here.

2. I have an album in My Napster / Albums for which every track (all 29
of them) shows up in the Albums list.

3. Some albums that the PC client does find cannot be found at all
using search from the plugin (however, this may be because they're of
the type described in 2. below).

PC Client:

1. In My Library, there are 'folders' for 'All Tracks', 'View by
Genre', 'View by Artist', but *not* 'View by Album'. This is a pain.
Anyone know how to rectify this (if it's possible)?

2. Only after unsuccessfully trying to add found albums several times,
to my library (using options), did I find, by clicking on the found
album's artwork, that the 'track' was no longer available at the
copyright owner's request. I'd spent some time also searching for it
via the plugin.

No problem then, let me know how I can help.
So basically my phone line will be used as an invisible operator, as it
were. Callers are actually calling you, but the "third party" on my
phone is actually the podcast stream. Correct?
I'm almost certain I have 3-way calling, dunno about the "conferencing"
aspect.
I do travel for biz on occasion so we would have to coordinate
schedules.

Glad you like it - there's a few rough edges which I will look to
updating. If you have contact with them, could you ask them if they
have an official icon which they would be happy for us to include in
this plugin?

I think it will also be possible to implement this as an applet for
Radio/Touch to allow playback of these streams when attached to
MySqueezebox.com, i.e. no local server. Would this be interesting to
anyone?

Re: [slim] Control your SqueezeBox or Transporter with Foobar2000

I suggest changing the IP address at the top of the AutoIt script (you
can do this in Windows Notepad). If you install AutoIt you can test
the script out by doubleclicking the script, then compile it if it
works.

Change "127.0.0.1" to whatever the ip address is of your vortexbox.
Let me know how you can get on.
