Re: [slim] Announcing SqueezePad - the first dedicated iPad App to controll your SqueezeBoxen !

2011-03-14 Thread andyman99

I upgraded to 4.3 over the weekend. Noticed that the ipad went into
sleepmode after about 30 mins of playing music. This happened twice.
Also the elapsed playing time of the tracks was not progressing
smoothly but sticking at 1 time and then jumping to catch up. Just
wondering if anyone else has seen this?

Are you using the 'prevent sleep while playing' option in the settings
screen of SqueezePad?
The update I sent out yesterday to Apple also includes a fix which
makes/made the iPad drop the network-connection after 30min for some
users.

Didn't see yet, that the progress time would not advance. On rare
occassions a jump is normal (i.e. a SqueezeBox stopping to buffer).
You only get the exact progress about every 5 seconds from the server
(sometimes even longer delays) - one needs to fill the
seconds/animations inbetween on your own.
When the next status-update comes one needs to adjust to the correct
value, this can lead to 'jumps' in the progress time. The same happens
on every other Squeezebox too by the way.

Yes I am using the prevent sleep option.

Also the elapsed time was continually sticking and for tens of
seconds.

I had been swaping between 2 players which I rarely do, so apart from
the IOS upgrade thats the only difference I can think of.

I will play again tonight and see if I can get it to happen again.

Thanks for response

[slim] Squeezebox Classic: Optical out always on?

2011-03-14 Thread aaron

Hi all,

after reading for years in the forums and getting lots of useful hints,
I've got a question, I couldn't find an answer - so I finally registered
and start my very first thread :-)

After renewing my A/V Receiver, I'm finally able to connect my
squeezebox classic via optical out to the receiver. The problem I'm
facing is, that the receiver doesn't stay in sleep mode, as the
squeezebox's optical out is always active (and the receiver is
configured to wake up if a signal arrives)...

I already set the option to disable the outputs of the squeezebox when
it is turned of, but this doesn't seem to affect the optical one.

Anybody has similar problems and maybe a workaround? I'm using the very
last version of squeezebox server.

Thanks,
Aaron

Welcome to the forum!

Out of interest, what A/V receiver did you get that has automatic power

Re: [slim] What to buy

2011-03-14 Thread dormant

Thanks for the suggestions.

One problem is that the Touch does not have ethernet bridging. This was
a very convenient feature of the SB2 as I sometimes move my media centre
computer to near the SB2, where there is no wiring available.

I could buy a separate wireless bridge, but it's another box.

Any reason why I shouldn't buy the Duo instead of the Touch?

i'd go with a separate $15 switch and the TOUCH myself. Many folks
around here that have the test equipment indicate that both the analog
and the digital out of the TOUCH is much better than the duet receiver
(closer to the Transporter!). Also the Touch does native 24/96 files.
The duet can be a pain setting up (and resetting up) as you have no
screen on the unit itself, just some blinking lights. I have a duet
(now in the back of the closet) and it worked fine, but I replaced it
with a TOUCH. My wife does use the duet controller however.

Thanks. Sounds like a plan to me.

I've just got the hassle of ordering/buying now. I usually buy from BH
as they seem to deal with international orders the best - plus it allows
me to spurge out on photo stuff. Unfortunately BH don't sell the Touch.
I don't seem to be able to order from Logitech's web site as they won't
let me live in Trinidad.

I'll have a browse.

I seem to be able to reproduce this. I have 2 duets, all works fine
using the main sbr. If I switch the 2nd sbr on it continues to behave
correctly. However if I then switch the 1st sbr off that's when I see
the behaviour I reported in the previous post. The track elapsed time
seems to only update every so often, frequently 60secs intervals and
after about 20 mins the iPad goes to sleep. Not a big deal as I won't
switch the 1st one off now I know what's causing it, but thought you
might like to know.

Re: [slim] [ANNOUNCE] SqueezeCommander 0.9 for Android

2011-03-14 Thread esa

Dear,
It could be a nice solution.
My proposal, is to create a little BOX based on a PIC controller from
Microchips.
- This box can generate all IR code (based on LIRC :
http://www.lirc.org/).
- This box connected to the network can receive control command from
Android Phone to generate specific IR Code.
- This BOX must be placed near elements that must be controlled : this
box can control multiple device.

I make electronics, I start programming for Android and very difficult
for me to understand JAVA.

A other approach, in case of uPNP device, is to create code to play
music and control device trough uPNP.
For example, I have a NOXON 2 device and maybe possible to send music
from squeezeserver to it ?

Regards

tamanaco;617257 Wrote:
 A bit off topic

I have been using SqueezeCommander for a while and I'm very happy with
it. Thank you very much. Little improvements are needed here and there,
but nothing related to the scope of its existing (defined) functionality
that I'd complain about. My issue is that I need another device (remote)
just to turn my receiver on/off and to adjust some of its settings. I
understand that SqueezeCommander is not a Universal remote, but if
one could add just the function to power on/off receivers it would be
 perfect for me.

Looking around I noticed that right now with an iPhone one can have a
remote for the SB (iPeng) and a Universal IR remote unified in a single
device. I don't think I'll ever get an iPhone... so I'd like a similar
solution for my Android phone, but I have been unable to find it.
Looking around I found the following 3 solutions to control AV systems
via IR using an iPhone which requires the purchase of a wireless IR
blaster. I could not find anything similar to these for Android.

 http://us.gear4.com/product/_/93/unityremote/?cid=31
 http://www.slashgear.com/peel-fruit-turns-iphone-into-show-suggesting-universal-remote-08118392/
 http://www.slashgear.com/griffin-beacon-makes-your-iphone-4-a-universal-remote-07124546/

My question to the SqueezeCommander developer is... How difficult would
it be for SqueezeCommander to accommodate the necessary wireless
interface to communicate with one of these wireless IR blasters?

One way would be to have an agreement with the makers of one of these
blasters and license the interface from then and incorporate into
SqueezeCommander. It will probably cost too much money to justify it,
but one can only wish. Take a look at the video about the UnityRemote
in the link above... I'd like to something similar to this for my
Android phone, but with the functionality of SqueezeCommander.

The other way... probably not legal... is to capture and replicate the
wireless signals from one of these apps. I know that recording the IR
signal from any of these blasters to the components is easy (most
Universal remotes have a record function) but how difficult would it be
to record the wireless signal from one of these apps to the IR blasters?
I doubt they're secured (encrypted). Just having an app that replicates
the signals that are required to turn several receivers on/off from my
Android phone would be enough for me. Having SqueezeCommander do it
within its interface would be perfect.

Just a thought... I know that my iPhone-loving friend, who also owns a
SB3 because I recommended it.. is thinking of buying the UnityRemote...
I hate to have him show me another thing that he can easily do with
 his device.

My other hope is that gears4 is also developing a UnityRemote app for
 Android.

 Back on topic...

No, it doesn't.

Anybody some idea regarding my original question? :-)

Re: [slim] [ANNOUNCE] SqueezeCommander 0.9 for Android

2011-03-14 Thread esa

Dear,

First, to say I really like SqueezeCommander.
I found very useful the functionalities regarding Alarm (possible to
set different volume setting, easy to change time,...)and Sleep.

But, I maybe found a issue regarding Alarm Clock.
To wake up :
- I create a First alarm using a playlist each Monday.
- A second alarm for the other weekdays using the current playlist.
So , all the week, I can wake up with the next song in the list.

But, some time , I don't wake up with the playlist and I ear the stupid
buzzer. I also realize that the playlist was empty.

In fact, I understand that this happens when I Modify the second ALARM
using the current playlist (for example, changing the volume or time).
After modifying the alarm setting and save it, the next time it will
work it will erase the playlist.

This is not the case, with a alarm using a specific playlist.

This is very easy to check :
- create a playlist.
- create a alarm using the current playlist.
- try it
- modify the alarm setting using the MODIFY option : change volume
setting or time.
- wait until next working.

Can you confirm this issue ?

Regards
Eric

Re: [slim] MOG Coming for Sonos

2011-03-14 Thread garym

Please vote on enhancement to bring MOG to squeezebox.

http://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=17061

A nice enhancement would be an APP with the ability to stream from MOG.
And
Sonos has recently announced the addition of MOG so I'd certainly like
to see this at Squeezebox as well.

My response from MOG requesting that they consider working with
Logitech:

Hi,

Possibly in the future, but I don't think we're working on anything
right now.

Re: [slim] Announcing SqueezePad - the first dedicated iPad App to controll your SqueezeBoxen !

2011-03-14 Thread bluegaspode

Hi andyman, tried to follow your explanation but cannot reproduce it.
I'm using Squeezebox-Server 7.5.3, and iOS 4.3 (8F190)

I used two Squeezeboxes (1 Receiver, 1 Radio) and did the following

- with SqueezePad started a song on Receiver
- with SqueezePad switched over to Radio
- with SqueezePad started another song on Radio
- with SqueezePad switched back to Receiver
- with SqueezePad used the 'Turn Receiver Off' menu item
- with SqueezePad switched back to Radio
- looked at progressbar in SqueezePad: everything normal

Is this what you did with your two Receivers? Or did you use any other
path in the menus or any other remote?
What Squeezbox-Server version are you running?

As to the 'turn off after 20minutes' problem - if you send me your
iPad-ID (use this App:
http://itunes.apple.com/app/ad-hoc-helper/id285691333?mt=8) to
support(at)squeezepad.com I can provide you with a preview on 1.7.3.
Then you can test if the problem vanishes.

[slim] Firewall problems on Mac after installing 7.5.3

2011-03-14 Thread shlea

Hi,

SqueezeCenter will not discover my Squeezebox receiver anymore after
installing 7.5.3 (in fact not with 7.5.2 either). I have discovered
that if I turn off the firewall on my MacBook Pro (OSX 10.6.6) it works
okay.

Can anyone help me with this? I assume that it should be possible to
add some program to the exceptions list in the firewall, but I don't
know which program or where to find it. SqueezeCenter is not installed
as a program as such, but as a System preferences plug-in.

Thanks!

Svein-Helge

Re: [slim] [ANNOUNCE] SqueezeCommander 0.9 for Android

2011-03-14 Thread Dukeisaac

My setup:

Local server on a NAS running SqueezeBox Server 7.6.0 and 3 SB Classic
connected via wireless.

Squeeze Commander (SC) see the players if they are connected to
MySqueezeBox.com (MSB) and I'm able to access all the MSB functions.
SC does not see my local server. Tapping and holding either one of the
players does not give me the choice to switch Music Source. The only
choice being MSB.

I've tried to define my local server manually by putting its IP address
192.168.1.106 and Port 9000, but SC comes back with an error message
(Unable to connect to...)

What am I doing wrong?
