Re: [slim] Jailbreak my squeezebox?
I'm not sure I understand what you like to accomplish ? Are you having a Touch with a USB drive but want to be able to use it without having an Internet connection/mysqueezebox.com account, or ? In that case, I don't think the mysqueezebox.com account is required during playback, it think it's only needed during initial setup. If you like to hack the Touch, you just need to activate the "Settings/Advanced/Remote Login" menu and then login to it via ssh from a computer and change any logic you like to change. This will of course require you do have development skills and so for no one has bothered to do any change related to the mysqueezebox.com connection requirement. But as I said, I think it should work without mysqueezebox.com connection after the initial setup as long as you only want to listen to locally stored music on an USB drive. -- erland Erland Isaksson ('My homepage' (http://erland.isaksson.info)) (Developer of 'many plugins/applets' (http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/User:Erland). Re: [slim] Jailbreak my squeezebox?
Sorry ... false alarm - sort of. I think I got it working. First I de-registered the Touch from the website and reconnected it to WiFi. Then I killed and restarted the Squeezebox app on the ipHone about ten times but it wouldn't find the Touch. Then on the "Choose Player" screen I pressed the retry button about 30 times. At various times it either told me there was no squeezebox on the network or presented an empty list. But I knew from my network analyser that both the iphOne and the Touch were visible on the network so I just kept on pressing retry, retry, retry. Eventually the Squeezebox appeared in the "Choose Player" list on the iphoNe and I was able to connect. -- Dontz Dontz's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=47378 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=88805 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

If the HD is > derived from CD is it worth having? I'm not a hi-res expert, but my understanding is that most recordings are mastered at higher resolution than 16/44.1 (CD quality). They are then converted to 16/44.1 because that's what the CD standard is. And that's why it's harder to buy the hi-res stuff, because there's a much smaller market for it (it won't play on a CD player). It's also possible that some purported hi-res tracks are really low-res material that has been upsampled. By most accounts, this is a complete rip-off, although there are some who contend that taking the same data and upsampling it sounds better. If you want to experiment a bit you can transcode tracks to different resolutions using SOX, and see if you hear a difference from upsampling CD-quality tracks or downsampling hi-res tracks to CD-quality. -- aubuti aubuti's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2074 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=88756 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Been playing spotify. Yes you can tell the the difference between encodings on songs. Some sound very clean while others can be a little muddled. It seems like it skips a song with the "not available in your region". But if there are a few in a row it stops. That needs to be improved. You should not have to go to the remote to push a button to get it going again, very frustrating. which product did you buy ? If it is the duet aka controller + reciever ? if so the reciever is very primitive ( a slim device ) it can do nothing without a server. This server can be Mysqueezebox.com or a local squeezebozserver . I notice that you are able to post here, so you have a computer a network and internet conection. so at no aditional cost you can either register at mysqueezebox.com and use it from there or instal the squeezeboxserver on your computer. There is no need to build a seperate server pc use what you already have. are you planning to use local files ? Then you have to use a local server. Re: [slim] Spotify (U.S.) Problems
I'm not having a good Spotify experience either. I tried using it on my Touch and I get some sort of network error. It doesn't work at all on my iPod Touch. The only place it works is on my laptop. Unless things change in the next month, I won't be renewing. I'm having good luck with Napster so far - I may just stick with that. -- maggior Rich - Setup: 2 SB3s, 4 Booms, 1 Duet, 1 Receiver, 1 Touch, iPeng on iPod Touch. Re: [slim] iPeng update: Let your Squeezebox get Social
Hi Pippin, thanks gor getting back to me. I am sure I am doing something wrong as: 1)I can't find the YouTube search option in the Global Search. Where is it?;) 2)How can I paste a YouTube link into the plugin? 3)I pasted a YouTube link into the "Tune In" URL but it didn't work. I would appreciate your kind help Pippin! Got it. I deleted the unwanted fav's on the web server. Also, the album covers look good on the web server but mixed up on PB. -- jswhale jswhale's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=47827 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=88180 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] iPeng update: Let your Squeezebox get Social
Well, then there will be a YouTube search option in the Global Search and a browse feature under Radios (SBS < 7.6) or "My Apps" (SBS 7.6). If you have a specific YouTube link you can paste it either into the plugin or into the "Tune In" URL. If somebody sends you a link through Facebook or Twitter, it will work if you use iPeng's facebook or Twitter "Apps". -- pippin --- see iPeng, the Squeezebox iPhone remote and *New: iPeng for iPad*, at penguinlovesmusic.com pippin's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13777 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=88724 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] Problem listening to stream
KROCK (New York) is not even listed with numerous stream aggregators. This means they have chosen to limit their stream to very few listener options, possibly limited to only their online embedded player so you can see their ads. As bpa suggests you need a direct stream url, email the station and ask for it. -- toby10 toby10's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12553 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=88809 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Problem listening to stream
If you are using mysb.com then the initial connection to the station will be from the mysb.com server whic may not be in the same country as your squeezebox. There used to be a workaround (IIRC adding #noslim=1 to radio URL) but you'll need to get the radio URL and not a playlist URL. -- bpa bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=88809 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Has anyone else got this to work? I think I need to re-phrase that description. iPeng does not allow using AirPlay devices as players like a Squeezebox, that would require an AirPlay key which Apple is not giving away. What this feature does is it adds a control for the AirPlay route to the iPeng Player if you use iPeng's playback. In this case you can use the normal AirPlay from the iThingy to your AirPlay device. This did work before but you had to use the task bar control now there is one in the player control. -- pippin --- see iPeng, the Squeezebox iPhone remote and *New: iPeng for iPad*, at penguinlovesmusic.com pippin's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13777 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=88724 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Did you press the "Ok" link at the bottom of that message? You don't happen to have a current beta on that device (I remember they dont work for you anymore?) What's the state it shows in the App Gallery setting? Re: [slim] NAS -- Basic Guidance Appreciated
We run SBS on one of our laptops. We use WOL and it works fine. Most times the laptop is on anyway and if not we just need to push powerbutton on Booms to wake laptop/server. Duet controller is a little more tricky in the current firmware, it does wake server but doesn't pick up on it unless you return to main menu. But that's about it. There are many advantages in using existing pc. Low cost, high performance, space saving, familiar OS. The only disadvantage I can think of (apart from a 3 second wake-up time) is that windows update from time to time will restart pc. But you could just change settings so it will always ask first. -- Letten Sboxes: Duet, Classic, Radio, 2 Boom's Server: HP Laptop, Core i5-540M, 4Gb DDR3, WOL (Wake-on-lan), 1.7watt suspended, Windows 7, SBS 7.5.3 Router: Linksys WRT54G wireless Letten's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=16718 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=88501 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

It's this > database I'm assuming is corrupt (p.s. I know nothing about the PB > filesystem). The album covers are managed by the squeezebox server. Unless you see different covers in the webinterface there is nothing I can do. There is no database on the playbook for this app. All your playlists and favourites and so on are part of the squeezebox server (that's the whole idea behind it). So you can manage everything with different devices. Create a favourite in the webinterface and use it on your playbook and so on. I will try to fix that favourites can't be deleted as soon as possible. -- friedit friedit's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=44812 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=88180 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
