I listen to MOG everyday with my various Duets and haven't noticed any problems of late. I usually run them through MySqueezebox.com instead of the LMS though. Perhaps that's worth a try? Re: [slim] Slimp3 plays at half speed?
I wouldn't normally resurrect a thread this old, but after nearly 4 years of having my SLIMP3 sitting idle in a cupboard, I dug it out once more managed to identify the cause of it's slow playback speed - figured others may find the info useful. The clue was from this post from Slim Devices' own Sean Adams, back in 2003 which mentioned dry joints as a possible cause. I'd originally looked over my slimp3 not found any obvious problems, but after a closer inspection (with a big magnifying glass), I found that 2 pins on what I guess is a timing oscillator chip were indeed lifted away from the board - I was able to verify this as the cause by temporarily using a small piece of foam to gently push down on the chip to reconnect the pins - hey presto, the playback speed is now correct. I'll solder a more permanent fix later. See the attached image for the location of the lifted pins. 15045 +---+ |Filename: slimp3_dry_joint_note_s.jpg | |Download: http://forums.slimdevices.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=15045| +---+ silentrunning's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=34099 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=70965 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Google Chromecast
I have one coming. Supposedly MediaBrowser 3 (htpc software) will add support for chromecast, and MB3 supports audio file playback. I'm not specifically interested in it for that purpose, but thought it would be worth mentioning since it came up here. Re: [slim] Community Funded Squeezebox Replacement - Would you be interested?
For what that's worth from a lower middle-class music junkie. The beauty of the Squeezeboxes to me, as a non technologically talented person, is their ease of use and high fidelity. I value the service and would put, say $50 a year towards a community maintaining MySqueezebox.com. Re: [slim] Google Chromecast
I've had one in place for about a week. Quick mini-review: The good: Crazy cheap at $35. I got the Netflix code because I bought it right away, so for me it was a net $11. Does what it says on the tin. Streams Netflix and YouTube. Hulu and HBO GO I think are also on board with this, though I use neither. Has a less crippled model for future support by 3rd party developers, unlike e.g. previous Google attempts, AirPlay, etc. Reasonably responsive remote control via mobile devices, once the stream is going. All chromecast-capable devices become remotes for the casted stream, not just the one you casted from. Neat. The bad: U.S. of A. only. :( Kind of abysmally slow getting the initial stream to start. Seems to be worse depending on what mobile device I use to cast the stream to the chromecast. Given how chromecast works (it gets the stream directly from the stream provider, so the mobile device isn't doing any work for those bits), I was a bit surprised by these differences. A 2nd gen iPad was the fastest amongst the 4 devices I tried, and a Nexus 4 was also pretty good. A Nexus S and a first gen Samsung Galaxy Tab were pretty bad. I have crashed a couple different android devices while casting. The stream keeps working, but meanwhile you are doing a hard reboot of your controlling device, which makes for some pretty darn bad user experience, should you need to e.g. pause the stream. Summary: Fits a quirky little niche, one that I had a desire to fill, but if you already have a Roku or something else to put Netflix out of your TV, it's redundant and inferior. cheers, #!/ben Former Logitech Developer: Squeezeplay/SqueezeOS/SqueezeboxController/SqueezeCenter Community Developer: Nokia770Skin (r.i.p.) http://www.last.fm/user/bklaas/ 'KHAAAN!' Re: [slim] OT: Bluesound as a Slimdevice replacement?
At this point the real issue with Bluesound is virtually no streaming services. No Pandora, MOG, Spotify, etc. All there is is TuneIN and Radioio. Until they get the major players, it will not make it on the list to replace my Squeezebox. And if you are happy with how SB works, the VOCO stuff may be more similar to what we have now. olc's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=14942 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=98065 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

After the 3rd party app no longer worked, I gave up using sirius on my squeezebox radio as I needed to have a 128 bit account and I only had a 64 bit account due to having a lifetime subscription with internet.
