Re: [slim] Control your SqueezeBox or Transporter with Foobar2000
My God, I got it to work. And I'm using the latest Foobar 1.3.4, and Squeezebox server/firmware 7.8. I'm using annoyingmouse's script on Page 8 Post 74. The reason the other scripts weren't working for me is because I was running Foobar 2000 using columns ui. (I mean there's no way I'm going to use the default skin...BORING!) I should have read more carefully that the original scripts weren't coded for that. This particular script only works with columns ui selected. Plus you have to... stuffedspacedog wrote: > > You need to open FB2K, go to preferences > display > columns ui. (Not sure why others here weren't getting that). Anyway, I'm not into iphones and such so it's really nice to sit at my PC and play tunes. (The touch screen got so 'old' for me). With a really nice skin for Foobar, this thing rocks! Thanks for this suggestion. It looks much better than the regular web interface. However it is still quite far from a regular "heavy" audio player like Amarok. However it is possible to make a powerful web interface: see Groove Basin (http://demo.groovebasin.com) If only we could interface it with LMS... You could try extGUI4LMS, which handles creating / managing the playlist differently. Re-ordering tracks in the playlist has a small bug, though, so this might be a deal breaker. I tried searching for artists and playing canned Rhapsody playlists that appear on the menus prior to selecting My Library. It loads the playlist or album and the first track of the playlist or album appears on the display but nothing happens. If I press play again, I get a flashing 500 SSL Negotiation Failed message, in small text that scrolls above the track information. I can scroll other tracks on the album or playlist but when I press play the 500 SSL message scrolls above the track information. The same behavior occurs when I try to play from albums or playlists in my library. The difference today is that I can actually get into my library although I can't play anything. Several days ago the 500 SSL message appeared when I chose My Library from the menu... I never could access my library before getting the failure message. Hope this makes sense. ghostrider's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=18959 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=102304 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] Is Raspberry with Squeezelite and Hifiberry the best Squeezebox?
I believe that the Squeezebox server coupled to a Raspberry Pi as a player provides the best value in high end audio and the community should be recommended for this colabrative approach that companies cannot seem to provide. I have a Excito/Bubba NAS which runs the server. It is very cheap to run compared with a traditional PC and also serves as a POP server and general server. I have a subscription to Deezer and also some 8000 tracks of stored music. I also use the system to listen to internet radio - my favorite being Radio Paradise and BBC iPlayer to listen to the 6:30 comedy half hour on radio 4 when I get home in an evening. I like the way it catalogues the music and also using the excellent multi-library plug-in allows my wife to choose only from her music. She does need cover art though which is causing me a slight problem at the moment. The players are a Raspberry B+ with HiFi Berry DAC (picoreplayer) playing into a valve amplifier with mission floor standing speakers. The quality of the DAC is outstanding especially with FLAC music which for its price is comparable to DACs priced in the hundreds to thousands of £. I have squeezelite running on a small factor Ubuntu pc which is in the kitchen. I use squeezepad on the Ipad to control it all - very user friendly. So it all connects very well together. The only real expense being the amp ( around £2000 and the speakers around £1000). I love listening to music and this satisfies it very well. The sync option for multi-rooms is brilliant for a large gathering. I have provided a raspberry pi + hiberry DAC to each of the kids. They don't store music but stream from Spotify ( the modern way). They have mid range amps and speakers. About £500 for each bought secondhand - one a solid state and the other Fatman hybrid. I have installed SqueezePlug on the raspberrys which provides the server and player on the raspberry - they both use Spotify. The ability to use Spotify playlists is a boom for them and they control it all from their iphones. One of the kids girlfriend is Russian and loves the ability to listen to Russian radio stations.
