Re: [slim] Do people still buy digital music? New business idea; would love feedback
Thanks again Mnyb! Love your feedback. I hope that the differentiating factors of BoxSett will be: 1. Any format of music (FLAC being an option for those who want it) 2. Great albums curated by awesome labels 3. New audience (for artists and labels) 4. New artists without feeling overwhelmed by selection (for listeners) 5. Great price 6. Non-profit element Its not for everyone, but I hope that it is for enough people. Eventually, I would like to have a subscription option, but I think people are a bit tired of those for the moment. Thanks again! Matt Mnyb wrote: I was a member of BW music club for a couple of years . A vaguely similar idea ( with some obvius differences maybe a case study for you ) . I also gets a newsletter called 14 tracks , thier blunder is not to offer Flac files . Some 14 track offerings are really interesting but only aviable as MP3 . I would not pay for lossy compressed files ( broken product IMO ). emmbeegee's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=34339 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=102931 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Yep, that is exactly right. I talked to one label already and they seemed to really understand this, so I am encouraged by that. Mnyb wrote: That would be great if you manage to do that . You are right! You do have to start somewhere. And where better than these forums full of good innovative thinkers and people willing to try out something new! toby10 wrote: That is how I took the initial post, yes. Just gauging interest in the idea and asking for help (volunteers) to help manage/run it. Their Facebook page was created just 45 days ago and has two likes. Yes to many subscriptions then you get flooded with music options again . Looking forward to see what irregular offerings this initiative will provide . Any idea on how often a boxsett will apear , but on the other hand a user don't have to buy all the sets . Preview samples would be an idea (30 s of each song or like boomkat does it an anyiyng beep every 30 seconds , but the full song as preview ) Why I quit bw music club , never had the time to digest all the music they provided me with , even if never downloaded most of thier classical offerings , but still to many albums I rarely listen to . I really want full albums rather than samplers. Samplers are know to be free. I want full albums at an almost free price. Mnyb wrote: Yes you supply your email and when the first boxsett is prepared you Will probably be given some download options. I did sign up . Now let's see if anything comes out of it :) It could work , some labels still do stuff like sampler discs , bundle a bunch of those and you have a boxsett . emmbeegee's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=34339 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=102931 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
