What OS are you running this on? These lines often point to networking
issues.

Re: [slim] Empty albums in virtual library

2018-08-20 Thread afriend

Hey DJanGo:

like I said, toggling the setting how the compilations should be grouped
doesn't change anything (even after clean LMS reinstall!). It was one of
the first things I looked at because it seems like a natural candidate.
And it's not just limited to my plugin. I can reproduce this with the
advanced search GUI as well: search for all tracks that include AAA in
comment tag, save that as a library view, create artist menu for that
view with the extended browse mode plugin. Et voilĂ : same empty albums
problem that I get with my 'plugin'
What's buggin me is that I don't have this problem with LMS in my VM. So
there must be some difference I'm overlookin (I really hope it's not
OS related)

I am running debian.

- Browse Artists = use *single*, configurable list
- Composer, Conductor, Band/Orchestra *un*checked
- List compilation albums [Bas group[/B]
- Treat TPE2 MP3 Tag as *Band*
- No error message(s) in the server.log

If these settings (after a cleanup & rescan) doesnt help - post your
plugin.pm

[slim] Empty albums in virtual library

2018-08-20 Thread afriend

Hi.

When I create a virtual library (view) with an *artists* menu (on the
top level), some artists in that menu have - -in addition to the correct
albums- - *empty albums* listed (= when you click on them, it says
empty).
They shouldn't even be listed in this library view because while they do
contain tracks by these artists, these tracks do not meet the selection
criteria of the library view.
These -empty- albums are all compilation albums.

Here's what I've tried/found out so far:
- It doesn't matter how I create the library view (plugin or advanced
search UI).
- I've erase every(!) trace of LMS on my server and reinstalled
everything from scratch, rescan, redo all the settings... problem is
still there (macOS 10.13.6, latest LMS 7.9 build)
- in the *Settings > My Music* my settings are:

- Browse Artists = use *single*, configurable list
- Composer, Conductor, Band/Orchestra *un*checked
- List compilation albums *under each artist* (switching this to the
alternative settings has no effect regarding the empty album problem)
- Treat TPE2 MP3 Tag as *Album Artist*
- No error message(s) in the server.log

And now here's where it gets interesting/weird: I've installed LMS with
a part of my music files in a virtual machine (macOS 10.12.6). I've
tried to use the exact same settings.
But in the virtual machine there are no empty albums! The problem does
not exist there.

I'm running out of idea on where to look, which setting etc.
Any ideas/suggestions as to what might cause this? (things that I
haven't tired yet)

Thank you.

Re: [slim] Virtual Libraries - help beginner please

2018-08-20 Thread afriend

So I gave up on the idea of having a menu group for the menu I've
created. It's too difficult for me. If somebody digs up this thread at
some time and get this working, please post your code here.

One final (I hope) question *regarding the _genre_ menu I've created for
-compilations-*.
The menu levels are like this:

COMPIS BY GENRE[/B] (TOP LEVEL NAME) *> GENRES* (WHERE YOU SELECT A
GENRE) *> ARTISTS* (IT SHOWS YOU ALL ARTISTS IN THIS GENRE, YOU SELECT
-ALL ALBUMS-) *> ALL ALBUMS

[B]How can I eliminate the artists menu level and make it go straight
from -genres- to -all albums- from this genre?* (preferably ordering
albums by name)

Re: [slim] Why is LMS using such an old SQLite version?

2018-08-20 Thread Michael Herger

My library is 30k tracks (on a NAS) and the bottleneck is I/O for sure,
the SATA died and wiped out the disks, so I rebuilt it with Win7 booting
from a USB drive.

You're running LMS from a different computer than where the files are
saved? This kind of I/O might be the bottleneck during the scan. But I
could imagine that when TrackStat is doing its job, it's LMS server side
only, no access to the files. I might be wrong. But please double check,
because your machine seems more than powerful enough to process 30k
tracks. Check the resource monitor while TrackStat is running. Monitor
disk, network, cpu and memory usage.

It has 8x (i7) CPU cores and 16Gb RAM so is strong

Did you check LMS' memory settings for the database?

hi Michael

That would be great if you could supply me the source.

My library is 30k tracks (on a NAS) and the bottleneck is I/O for sure,
the SATA died and wiped out the disks, so I rebuilt it with Win7 booting
from a USB drive. It has 8x (i7) CPU cores and 16Gb RAM so is strong
enough. I can't change the OS due to other software, it works fine day
to day but definitely chewing on the db rebuild when Trackstat does a
massive update query after a full rescan. So I would like to see if I
can play around with the database side of things and happy to share
anything useful I find.

Thanks in advance
