Re: [slim] Wanted Transporter (U.K.)
It's hard to find a DAC that sounds better than a Transporter. I have tried, as I wanted to switch to a USB setup. After unsuccessfully trying a few different DAC's I became the proud owner of a RME ADI-2 FS, but it didn't sound nearly as good (level matched) so I reluctantly sold it. After that I called off the search. So looks like I'll be keeping the Transporter for the foreseeable future. [slim] Joggler problem
I tried a couple of different OS's on my new Joggler tonight. Then tried to install squeezeplay with the following method ... I followed these instructions ... 1. Download Reflash system for Openpeak here ==> https://birdslikewires.net/openframe-flash 2. Download Ubuntu 18.X and install image on reflash stick ==> https://birdslikewires.net/debian-for-openframe 3. Write image to Openpeak. Wait until image is written and Openpeak shuts down. 4. Log in Username: of Password: joggler 5. Update build sudo apt update sudo apt upgrade Note: I answered 'N' (default) to 2 requests, because answering yes, on a previous attempt, broke things. 6. Update the 'of-' scripts sudo of-update 7. go to cd /usr/local/sbin 8. Install squeezeplay of-install squeezplay Everything was going well, but I now have a system that's in an infinite rebooting loop. I see the O2 logo. Then the squeezeplay boot screen. Then, after a couple of minutes, it flashes black and goes back to the O2 boot screen. Any idea what's going on? Re: [slim] Squeezebox Classic (SB3) Repair Considerations
These Wi-Fi boards are harder to get. At eBay, I found two offerings which are both from China. Might be problematic but I'm not sure. This the link to one of them: https://ebay.us/PdmjPl AR2413 is the chip that needs to be on the card because it's the only one the Squeezebox firmware supports. It is also important that you use the MiniPCI variant, avoid the ones for MiniPCI-e / MiniPCI-x and/or "half size". They are incompatible. There are only very few different models with AR2413 and classic MiniPCI. Compared to the PC world, MiniPCI is the analogy of PCI whereas MiniPCI-e or -x is for PCI-express so it's more modern and electrically a different design. I think that MiniPCI Wi-Fi boards may have been used in older notebooks, too. So it's rather generic, not something specifically designed for Squeezeboxes. I have only ever seen three different ones that fit. Sorry, could only find two in my collection right now: 32590 32591 A peek under the hood reveals that the PCB layout is mostly identical in both. Main differences are in the power supply sections. The blue one features a useful silk screen whereas the green one seems to be from Apple  32592 A closeup of the chip in question: 32593 Which also sorts out the myth about AR2431 and AR2413. It's clearly AR2413 as we can see here. I confused this myself in my blog and just went and corrected it. Pity! But it really needs to pop the shields and look closely. I guess the stickers on the backof the cards are more helpful than what is in the front-side silk screen for finding anything similar on the market. I remember purchasing a pack of 10 of these blue cards for around 20 EUR. But that was years ago. For comparison, here is a MiniPCI-x half-length card that _won't_fit_ even if the chip used is the same: 32589 The size of these cards is only about 1/3 to 1/4 of the one we need, and the card-edge connector is totally different. If you can get a hold of the blue model, that's definitely the newer one and a better design in my opinion. For instance, it does not need that hefty voltage regulator that the old card has which spreads a lot of heat, i.e. is wasting energy. Hope this helped a bit. Please keep us informed how your story goes on. Yes, it has happened with both local content and internet streams. When you say playlist, if I play an album, it's just a folder of FLAC files, there's no M3U or PLS file or whatever. I've listened to local files and a stream for >2h so far today with no occurrence of the problem, so I am leaning towards network issues here. troffasky's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=70248 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=113452 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Slimp3 going loopy...
A quick look at log. I don't have a SlimP3 so all I am going on is other users & developers experiences 1. The MP3 error message is associated with internet streaming and pls. It needs to be checked out. 2. There are odd messages logging about problems accessing settings. Not normal. This indicates something odd in network. Somebody from 81.2.114.23 is trying to access your LMS. Have you opened up LMS ports to internet ? 3. Syncing with an SliMP3 is problematic. IIRC SlimP3 sync protocol is slightly diferent to newer SB player so compromises are made. Because of buffer size mismatch, At best make the SliMP3 the master. When testing network problems, do not test with synced players. What do you mean "pasted" ? You edited the log file ? Sometime missing message have the clue, so context & lead up is important. A complete unedited log file is usually the most useful. You can zip log file and attach vary long ones. The message below is specifically related to SliMP3 which uses UDP - there is somehting broken. Playlist is also part of "pls" processing which relates back to point 1. Code: [20-12-19 01:44:40.1567] Slim::Networking::IO::Select::__ANON__ (130) Error: Select task failed calling Slim::Networking::UDP::readUDP: Can't call method "playlist" on an undefined value at /usr/share/perl5/Slim/Player/Playlist.pm line 178. ; fh=IO::Socket::INET=GLOB(0x5594b56ceb90) Can you show this looping problem with playing individual local tracks ? or is it only playlist and/or internet related ? bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=113452 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Slimp3 going loopy...
player.source is already at Info level. I just pasted the end of where it started playing and all where it looped 13 minutes later. 32585 Attached is the log for that day and some of the next. Later on I connected a squeezelite player and tried to replicate the issue. It's possible that I'd left the stream playing and it dropped at 0144 the next day, but I don't know as I was fast asleep. The player is DHCP. I have changed its DHCP address to a static lease so that it can be monitored more easily. Unfortunately I am not sure when the issue began, so difficult to correlate it with anything, but I would say in the last 6 months. The main changes would be the weekly OS updates. Smokeping shows 0.2% packet loss over past 10h. Bit high for a LAN but it's on a powerline extender. Although I haven't had the looping issue since adding it to Smokeping. If I get some time I am going to artificially introduce some network problems to see if looping then dying is what Slimp3 does in such conditions. +---+ |Filename: 2020-12-18-server.log| |Download: http://forums.slimdevices.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=32585| +---+ troffasky's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=70248 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=113452 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] Wanted Transporter (U.K.)
Dont have broken one, changing setup to allow me to take advantage of clock locking my dac as opposed to much inferior spdif. I seriously doubt a rpi feeding my dac via spdif would beat a transporter clock locked to my dac. Thats whole point of me wanting transporter as I want to clock lock to dac master clock. Only 2 ways being clock is 128fs is transporter or m2tech evo 2 usb-spdif (however they aint cheap and it means me having either computer or similar to plug it in to on rack as well (where as transporter doesnt). I also suspect as good as the m2tech device is it would be hard pressed beating the actual measured jitter of transporter when clock locked. Lastly ebay does have em from USA in silver and SE which is my least preferred option and inc delivery they are over £400 iirc (by time I get charged import duty, vat and couriers admin charge Ill probs be a quite a chunk higher then U.K. s/h prices :) Many thanks for ideas but not really what I am after as none will allow a 128fs master clock.
